well, i respect your opinion and thoughts on this issue.
but i believe that if we lived in a completely safe environment, we won't be able to know the other side of the coin and therefore don't recognize God's blessings. But if we live both the grace and hardships we will be thankful and appreciative.
I don't believe in faith healing and i believe in making use of the abilities which god gave us. If god wanted to heal us just cause we are faithful, why did he permit our sickness
If he created us in his image as a parent gives birth to a child, and watches over us as a parent watches over a child, why would he need to create sickness only to harm us? Just so we can "appreciate" what we have more? That's akin to a parent beating their child after they eat just so they can appreciate the fact they have access to a meal every night.
God is not like a parent according to my understanding. I really believe that the one who created the sky, the planets, creatures, and everything else in an amazing power and accuracy, has wisdom behind every action that he does.
Your analogy is not fair and it compares god to parents and god's reality is ambiguous to us.
@glool Maybe I'm just missing something, but I see no reason to want to believe in God because he is abusive and unjust, a god who eternally tortures those who lead moral lives solely for not believing in him, and rewards serial killers and terrorists with heaven as long as they apologize. However, just because I don't want to believe in him doesn't mean I wouldn't if he showed he existed. However, there is no such evidence and therefore no reason for me to consider it a possibility.

@lonewolf604 God gave us free will. Why? He created us so there would be something to love him. However love is only through free will. No free will would be robots incapable of love. Although there are Nuclear Weapons the only two to kill people stopped a war that was going to kill millions more.

If people want me to accept that extraordinary claim, then i'm not going to be niave or gullable and accept it on their word, or ancient tales from books and scriptures re-written several times by man over thousands of years. I'm going to be reasonable and logical and request evidence before i'll beleive that claim.
