  • The most honest game advertisement is one from angry video game nerd :DDD

  • This is, My FAVORITE Video Game of ALL-TIME!!! I so Love it!! And thanks to Game Genie, I've Been BLESSED to beat this Game many times! :)! NES will always be My FAVORITE Video Game Console System indeed too! Blessings ALWAYS Folks! :)!

  • AVGN brought me here

  • This sound like Amnesia for an older generation

  • i was good enough once i learned the key trick lol

  • I was good enough PWNGE

  • Wow, they're actually advertising the very thing that makes this game suck ass!

  • This game was a piece of shit.

  • there were two health meter expansions in this game, both located in white buildings that containg a maze, the expansion, and naught else. The white building with the first expansion appears early on and has an entrance in plain sight, but the second can only be approached by traveling through a false wall of trees or bushes on the west side of the building, approaching from the north. There is no other way in that I know.

  • Hmm, this commercial seems to be using footage of what might've been the Beta version, as the family portrait at :02 is no where to be found in game (however, their faces are seen inside the houses, and Pugsley's pose is recycled for the ending), and the level layouts look a little different, especially at :15. Does that machine have a note with Japanese lettering on it?

It would've been a great game if it was a little more streamlined, like to make the enemies spawn less frequently, for one.

  • @LuwiigiMaster The family portrait is in the game. It's where you get the 2nd health upgrade.

  • @SivakD Oh, that's right! Fester could have up to 4 HP instead of just 2. Never got to find the second one, though, so thanks!

  • Back in the old days, there were two types of challenging games- the hard games that made you sweat and games like Ninja Gaiden and Battle of Olympus. These games, along with Fester's Quest, had no problem whatsoever beating the holy fuck out of you and reducing you to a profanity spewing mass of hate.

If I ever find the guys responsible for this game's difficulty, I will scream "I AM A MAN" and cock punch the, Repeatedly.

  • Wow, Look at the life, I thought in Fester's Quest you can only have 2 life blocks, and in the commerical you had three life blocks then four! Wow, what that happen? Is that a cheat? My friend is playing Fester's Quest, right now, cause I never beat it, got all da way into the ufo, but got my ass kicked. Now, he's playing it and he's even trying to kick some ass!

  • @PierreDeMinuit i think you that in order to earn extra hit points, you have to work your way through the game and earn them, but unlike the gun and whip (which is upgraded throughout the game with power-ups), i think it's done after destroying a boss.

  • @figment1988 Pretty much yeah, the only way to get heatlh upgrades is to beat the bosses (and also, make sure that you find Gomez)

  • @PierreDeMinuit the health power ups are hidden through the game. the first one you can get before the first boss, and the second one is hidden really good, so i forget where it is.

  • @PierreDeMinuit someone may have already told u but the health upgrades are hidden in the game, i kno the first one is in the first 3d maze building thing by walking into the right wall, im not sure where the second is.

  • Yeah, at least they were being honest. Still, at school, for one month, it was deed the coolest game. Probably just because it was on a commercial. Later, the commercial for the Back To The Future game came out, and....

  • WOW THIS COMMERCIAL SUMS IT ALL UP

  • I'm guessing sensitivity wasn't in the advertising department's vocabulary growing up.

  • Hey man, at least they warned you if you fuck up, you start over.

  • Commercial: Fester's Quest is one tough video game.

    Me: You got that right.

  • They forgot to add bullets disappearing in walls as Fester conveniently stood right at the center at the sewer part.

  • It's good I don't car off all I rather play than dokkie It's better than gohnorrea But I screwed the poem. Sucks me ass FUCK It isn't bad Fuck 3DO Will burn Your ASS! , I made a poem like AVGN, my honest thoughts of the game maybe it's not ryming
  • I beat this game.

It's true that it's one tough video game, but it is beatable at least.

  • Its crappy and its cooky A stupid piece of poopy I'd rather eat my dookie It makes me wanna pee Suckin some ass (fuck) Suckin some balls (fuck!) Suckin some balls Suckin some balls Suckin some ass (fuck!) Makes me wanna see a Assload of diahrrea Its worse than gohnorrea I'm gonna take that pee (watch the AVGN episode of this if you dont get it)
  • @Katakuna51 "It makes me wanna pee"??!

  • I'll beat that everybody got canned after this ad aired. I mean, REALLY... why did they mention the whole starting over bit in the ad??? That was really BALLSY!

  • Well this game if you are pratise a ot it can be stupidly easy.

  • 0:00-0:09,UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE CENTURY

  • Well, at least they're honest :/

  • THUMBS UP if your here becuse of AVGN

  • Wow, they weren't shitting around with this ad for Fester's Quest.

  • cool

  • The engine was recycled from the overhead shooting parts of Meta Fight / Blaster Master.

  • More like "FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU Quest"

  • festers quest the game sucks big time

  • OH MY GOD. They did this shit on purpose. TO MAKE THE GAME "BETTER". This is now officially THE most hated game of my childhood. There's "hard" and then there's "you've got to be kidding". This was the latter.

  • the game is actually pretty fun. fucking hard, but a good time

  • I hate this game with a passion. Shall it burn in Hell alongside Zelda II.

  • @TwelveTwelve84 zelda ll kicked ass, it was just different

  • I mean't to say hard games don't make the game suck.

  • I don't understand why people didn't like this game. I love it. I understand its extremely hard but hard games don't make the game's hard.

  • One tough videogames..meaning those annoying green blobs.

  • "if you make just ONE MISTAKE, you start all over again!"

Nice way of pitching the product guys!, Aren't you aware that there is a "Continue" option? Where do you put in passwords?

  • so they make a crappy save system seem like a main point of the game? what kind of marketing is that?

  • more like, one tough piece of shit

  • I love this game.

  • This commercial probably makes you NOT want to get the game.

  • "If you make one mistake, you start all over again"

Yeah, they are not lying, it's the pure truth told in 29 secs.

  • Thi game sucks unless you have enough patience and/or tie to kill, not that bad when you think it that way.

  • Pretty much the case. Once you know where everything is,and the boss patterns, the game becomes pretty easy TBH.

  • the commerical is basically telling u the game is horrible its one tough game with horrifiying mazes.. yeeeeeeeeesh! if i was gonna make a game ad i would say its teh best, lol

  • Haha! Did they think that people would literally buy a game that's advertised as "really hard"?

  • What dumbass decided to advertise all of the negative stuff about this game?

  • XD THE COMMERCIAL SAYS IT ALL die once and its restart the game

  • One of the main reasons it sucks ass.

  • That was the thing back then for alot of games.

    Particularly the shitty ones.

  • Lol, the commercial says it all.

  • wow, what a terrible commercial. "If you make one mistake, you start all over again"... why would they advertise this?

  • This game was terrible. Well, the commercial certainly wasn't lying when it said the game was "tough."

  • Sucks same hairy monkey balls

  • even in the commercial the voiceover tells you its one tough video game lol

  • hahaha sucks ass xD

  • lol the hand at the end made that ''don't look in hole''

  • Never saw this ad, but I'm surprised they showed a clip of the final level. How many people do you think even saw that (I have, but didn't beat it 'til I was 14)?

  • 'if you make one single mistake, you start all over again'

    ...

im just going to guess their addvertising department sucks balls.

  • What the hell? They said "You'll start all over again" in the ADVERTISING? That's just... well, at least they were honest :D

  • It is one tought video game! Omg.

  • "This is one tough video game!"

That's an understatement. This game is WAY too hard! The enemies keep respawning and the gun barely works!

  • ...

    pointless. fucking. comment.

  • The idea of starting at the very beginning of the game when you die is a really bad idea, you only have to watch AVGN and he'll tell you exactly why this game is terrible. XD

  • the funny thing is that it outlines some of the things that are bad in the game

  • The graphics were spooky alright. The 3rd boss's colours gave me a fucking headache.

  • 'if you make one single mistake, you start all over again' lol that doesnt really make me want to buy the game.

  • Same here even though I own the game ^^; why did they think that was good advertisment?

  • any game that has one life with no continues should not have even been released. They are just asking people to use game genie if that is the case.

  • i'd rather piss out a cactus then play this game

  • Yet another fan of the AVGN ;-)

  • hahah when it says "if you make one single mistake you start ALL OVER AGAIN" even the commercial says the game sucks

  • wow the commercial just saying "this game sucks dont buy it"

  • LOL 1:19 "spooky graphics"

  • there is a difference between challenging and broken.

  • Well this game is even worse than AVGN's oppinion -.-

  • What a shitload of diarrhoea

  • I think it's a shitload of fuck

  • I think you should shut your ass!! lol

  • Not bad, just hard!

  • "This is one tough video game" You bet your ass!

  • udders, hun.

  • atleast they were honest, its a tough game

    well said

  • What the fuck? They actually advertise that if you make a mistake you start all over again? What braindead idiot thought that would be a good way to advertise it?

  • @VengefulRonin The kind appealing to the Hardcore instead of the Casual...

  • whoa what a commercial who would want to buy it after this commercial and after it says u make one mistake u start over again

  • LOL!! at least the commercial wasn't ripping you off since it said ,"IT'S ONE TOUGH VIDEO GAME!!!"

  • so does baby cows

  • Notice they only show footage from the first level...

  • no, the final dungeon was snuck in there as well

  • Because the game was to hard

  • they new it sucked ass lol

  • I was hoping The AVGN would comment on this commercial. Fester's Quest was 1 of the only video games that had a TV commercial.

  • lol "But if you make just one mistake you start all over again!"

  • Explains the game in one sentance!

  • and they wernt fucking kidding

  • wow they advertize all the game's bad stuff and act like it's good.

  • i love the AVGN but the hate the fans who take for granted everything the nerd says even if they havent played the game.

  • Wow, that's a pretty honest commercial.

  • I wasted a lot of time on this dog turd of a game back in the day..

  • Well, its mildly repetative, but most of all.

    ITS HARD!

  • Maybe I'm the only one, but I think the difficulty of NES games were a great thing about them. Admittedly, this game was a bit too difficult, but that didn't stop me from loving it as a kid. I still think it's a good game, in spite of it's difficulty.

Games now are often too easy, and sometimes with no or lacking difficulty options, and I think even us oldscool players are becoming spoiled on that...Once again, I'm not saying this game wasn't a bit too hard. :P It needed those options too, IMO.

  • Sunsoft must've been smoking some weird shit while developing this piece of shit!!

  • well no lying in advertisement there

  • the only mistake i made was buying the game.

  • yeah, the fact that you only have 2 life bars and start over again makes it a shitty game. James Rolf, thanks for exposing this game for it's horendousness!

  • You do know that you can get health power-ups, which makes it able to get up to 6 bars of health don't you?

  • where? There's only 1 in 1 house and that's all I've found

  • Lol, same here, I NEVER found the others, but in one of the Let's Plays I watched he said you can.

  • Hey, that' not Thing!.. he's a righty.

    Could be a relative.

Anyway, I had this game and I must say I was bit disappointed. It was just not what I thought a Addams game would be like.

Ha ha love these old gamecommercials :D

  • I've owned this game since 1995. I still don't have the patients, or skill to complete it.

  • this commerical says the truth.

  • isn't that the turth. it's almost unplayable.

  • It's the truth alright. It's one hard video game. And if you die, you start from the BEGINNING OF THE GAME! Damn this game was impossible to beat.

  • Whens it coming out?

  • Well, sadly, nobody has the guts to release a video game on a CARTRIDGE anymore, and since this game appears to be on that very same "evil satanic form of media," then that means that it is not coming out any time soon. Which leads to the conclusion that it is already out.

Thank you, and have a nice day.

  • its OLD mate

  • with how honest the commercial is, I'm surprised how many friends owned this game when I was a kid

  • sucky add, sucky game^^

  • at least you have to give Sunsoft some credit for being honest

  • ture

  • I can't believe that this game was my bad the same team that worked on Blaster Master! Even the composer was the same! Or so I hear.

  • did they really think that saying you'd have to start over was a good marketing stratagy?

  • for once i think they were being very honest

  • I guess they where, to bad it still didn't help this game sell any better.

  • even the ad says its shit!

  • Hadn't seen this in year's. Remember it from my childhood. Many thanks for posting, however, too bad the fondness of the memory of the commercial isn't quite the fondness for the video game! lol

  • The start all over again part is a waste of fucking time.

  • thank god for emulators and savestates

  • It's amazing that the game was actually advertised as being a difficult game. No game company does that any more unless it's something like Ninja Gaiden Black.

  • i have this game lol its real frikin hard

  • "This is one tough video game"

    Yeah -- they're not lying

  • lol

  • Is this for real? lol

  • sadly, it is. it's one tough game.

  • Doesn't it have a continue option?

  • i don't think there is. it's kind of like rygar for the NES, you just gotta have the time and the patience to beat fester's quest

  • In the Angry Video Game Nerd's review on Game Trailers, he chooses "continue" and while he starts back at the beginning, he has all his items.

  • hmmm, and they consider going back all the way to the beginning with all your items as a continue? that doesn't make any sense, what if you make it through the second stage, does it happen like that?

  • Well I think it works like the older Zeldas, where you (almost) always continue at the beginning, but you find different items to use as shortcuts to get to the later areas faster, know what I mean?

  • ah, just like in Zelda II. i got it now

  • Except there's one slight difference--in Fester's Quest, you have to start all over although you have the clues and weapons, and in Rygar, you continue from where you left off.

  • This game is HORRIBLE!

  • wow, how weird is that even the commercial admits what a frustrating mess this game is?

  • it is weird and ironic. however i find the overhead sections easy (because i use turbo fire mode), it's the Golgo 13-like maze segments that drives me nuts
