Jesus himself was against a lot of the practices of the Pharisees and Sadducees at the time, this does not make him evil. He also commented about people who claim to be Jews but are not. At the time many Edomites had converted to Judaism but were not Israelites. Also the Jews at the time hated the Samaritans who were some of the other 11 tribes of Israel.

A few jews owned shares in some of the major trading houses and one or two of the minor trading houses were owned by jews. So jews did participate in the trade but only on a very minor scale compared to the english and the dutch.
