@GuidoNijhof1 Cost is hard to judge as it depends on what you consider, actual materials used, or purchases required to have materials on hand. :) For purchases you would need 5 Hirst Arts molds ($34/each), a sheet of hardboard ($5), three different flocks (~$20), a sheet of insulation board ($13), several bags of different foliage (~$20), plaster to cast into the molds ($5-$50), plus paints, washes, glues, etc. Of course many projects can be made from the left over materials.
if you get back around to doing more jungle pieces,I've seen these trees in Africa that some grow up to 40 or 50 meters tall,it'd be awesome to see you recreate something like that scaled down for gaming boards
Like the new table format....let's us get a real good look at your products and what you showed us is really amazing...love the crypts...I have always been a big fan of the amazon jungle motifs and that is an awesom ziggurat....your vids are always inspiring...thanks for posting up your new additions and going into detail on your thought process for what you design...Jim.
@graefx The ruined fieldstone wall mold has blocks that are 'incomplete' as well as single stones. You can't easily hand damage the basic fieldstone wall pieces since the interior doesn't have the round stone texture. These pieces are assembled, and then I made a mold from the master so I can cast them as a single piece.
Love the crypt entrance.. For the vines did you use a glue and flock or parsley... Or did you use a wire underneath there too? Also dig the trunks on your trees. Great Variation and added realism..
@jimeronimo The vines are just some super turf glued in place. I was really surprised at how the texture scales leaves so well. I think its the best scale leaf look I have seen. I decided to avoid adding actual trunks/woody vines to save some time.
@Terranscapes Thanks. They look good. I'll look into where I can finds that... DOn't think I've seen that brand before... Thanks for turning me on to it.
@21sanooj There is a smattering of vegetation on the pyramid, but I feel like there isn't enough soil on the pyramid to support lots of growth. I stick a few pieces in the cracks to imply some are starting to get a foothold. :)
gotta love all the vegetation. I think you could go even farther with the moss effect on the temple, getting more in the cracks between some of the stone blocks, kinda like the creeping moss on your other piece. It would be really cool to see something like those temples in Cambodia where the trees have grown out from the stones, but that might create too much clutter for models.
@chicophi220 I debated how much to add, and I did add vines to the sides of the first tier, which you can see through the foliage if you look closely. I was going to have it creep up the sides more but I wasn't sure how realistic it would be. Next time, I will probably work it up higher. :)
I like this format the best, the presence of the table is very helpful but like you said there should be more lighting, excellent crypts by the way, excellent work.
@Kiyosal Thanks. Looking at the video, I know exactly what lighting changes to make. I was in a hurry and thought perhaps I could get away with fewer lights. Not so. In my videos next to the work bench, I lighted the area with 5-6 lights totalling over 1000 watts to get it bright and even. ;)
@Skrakjaw7 I score the foam with a knife and run a pen down the score marks. Not too difficult, just takes some time and care to keep the lines straight.
how much did it cost to make that kind of cemetery?? ? I really want to make something like that to but I really dont know were to start...

@Jason11190 Wow, thats pretty big. Something like 18 - 20" tall to scale. :)
Terranscapes 11 months ago
@Terranscapes but it would make and incredible center piece for a jungle board wouldn't it?

With the ruined walls, do the Hirst Art mold have the damage, or do you damage solid walls and make a mold of that?

i love the crypts i could see them being a good defendable objective or if you have 2 a tunnel system to flank enemies. plus they look amazing :)

@cocomoloko cool idea. Also, with two facing each other, it forms a movement channel on the tabletop that is interesting.

Are those conifers made from scratch? If so, you need to make a tutorial! :D
HollowVampire 11 months ago
@HollowVampire No, they are pre-made. They are the best pre-made conifers I have found for less than $2/tree. Very durable as well.
Terranscapes 11 months ago
@Terranscapes Then might I ask where they were bought from? They really look nice and I would love to put those on my gaming board.
HollowVampire 11 months ago
@HollowVampire Scene Scapes is the brand and you can purchase them online.
