Here's the issue, here in Canada where this happened only seargants are alowed to carry tasers and this is probably why there was no taser used. Tazers and pepper spray have a limited range. If the suspect was on drugs he may not have even felt the effects until after he was on top of the officer stabbing him. At which point the other officers would be unable to discharge their weapons due to the close proximity of the officer. I would have just shot him. But they excercised great restraint preventing the loss of life... even an obvious waste of one.

Here's the issue, here in Canada where this happened only seargants are alowed to carry tasers and this is probably why there was no taser used. A taser would have worked in this situation because the suspect was showing signs of active resistance and was holding a knife the other option was to shoot him. had an officer of tased him then morrons would still post this video calling it police brutality, no one stops to think that these cops have families and their #1 job is to go home at night.

Only thing they could have done differently here is shooting and killing the perp. It takes the average officer 30 feet of space between you and the aggressor weilding a knife just to fire your weapon semi accurately in self defense. They all deserve commendations for their efforts and going above and beyond the call of duty. Anyone that wants to be critical of their actions I suggest you go up against a man, woman, or child with a knife and see what kind of damage it can inflict.

As much as the car was unnecessary and despite my hatred for cops, this was not police brutality. It would have been had they beaten him after he surrendered, but the cops show restraint in that; but who knows what went on at the station where there were no cameras.

Tazers and pepper spray have a limited range. If the suspect was on drugs he may not have even felt the effects until after he was on top of the officer stabbing him. At which point the other officers would be unable to discharge their weapons due to the close proximity of the officer. I would have just shot him. But they excercised great restraint preventing the loss of life... even an obvious waste of one.

You are correct, this is from Toronto and in Canada not all police officers/departments have tazers. I think the officers played it smart keeping their own personal safety in mind. Getting bumped by a car is not as bad as getting shot. If you look at the use of force continuum, police would have had all the right to use deadly force, instead they used a different tactic that caused less harm to the subject involved.
