Youre talking about the Isle of Man. The Isle of Man is independent. Well, virtually so anyway. They have had their own parliament for 1000 years and in that whole time they have never sent any MPs to Westminster. They depend on UK for very little other than a defence policy. The Isle of Man is not a full part of UK but rather a 'dependency', like Channel Isles, Gibraltar, Falklands. Ask any Manx man or woman and they will tell you they are perfectly happy with the existing arrangement.

That would really depend what part of the country your living in. I joined just before the general election last year so I was very busy canvassing at that time but since then I havent been doing much as I live in a rural area of Donegal. But if you live in Dublin or Belfast or somewhere like that im sure you would be much more active. If you joined now I think your primary focus would be campaigning against the Lisbon treaty which is coming up in June.
