They are from a captive stock. If you want them, you can try purchasing them from gamebird breeders (they go for around $100 per pair...add the shipping and it's over that price. Just make sure you check with your State fish and wildlife department if any license is needed...which I think you might need one. I got my license though.
you raised these quail right? so you are obviously pretty attatched to them. i say you disembowel the cat and leave it in their backyard. last time a cat tormented my rabbits i poisoned it.
Yes, I raise these quail. The thing is I don't know if the cat belongs to a neighbor or if its feral. I know its a cat because sometimes at night when I look out side, I see a cat playing around my backyard. I just wake up in the morning to find out something broke into the enclosure and that some of my quail are missing...with lots of feathers scattered around.
@ntsees thats a shame. i would never want to see my quail in pain... could you possibly run some electric wire around the outside of the enclosure? that way if the thing tries to get in again it gets shocked? i know most cats only get shocked once before theyre done with the idea as it is humiliating to them and stuff. does it happen often enough to invest in an electric wire?
do you raise them from the wild or are they captive stock?
do they roam around your place?
man am i jealous!
if they are wild, i'll move next door, i would love to have some of them around my place.
my absolute favorite quail, EVER!!
kill that cat and don't look back!!!

It doesn't happen often. I've made changes around the enclosure and it seems full proof now but we'll see.

@opo707 When you have lost as many things as I have, you'll understand why something like that is not touching.
