  • Lol, the two people at the end having an exciting discussion about handstroke pull!

  • Good God, I should imagine that the are tricky to handle.

  • Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekk!!!

What are THESE like to ring? They look DODGY!!

Reminds me of some horror stories of Burlington, NJ (22cwt 8.) Now THEY sound interesting!! (If anybody has a video of them, please download it! I'd LOVE to see & hear them!!)

  • @simonbellringer you would not like to ring them the 2 guide frames have holes out of position the holes in the 2nd frame are not in line with the 1st one they are suspended with ropes and sway when you pull the ropes.

  • @simonbellringer I have rung on these, they are awful to ring. Big wheels and ridiculously long length of rope, they don't have much handstroke at all and are pretty rough all round! Not in any hurry to go back...

  • @timmeh1507 Only 2 of them have no handstroke.....

  • I guess I just prefer being as close as possible to the bells for the quickest response. =) lol

  • whats the point of this guideframe when it is so close to the ceiling. it might as well be unguided

  • @belvedere261 It isn't close to the ceiling at all!

  • ,

    oh my god! : |

  • I hate long rope draughs with dodgy rope guides some places ive run were so long they had 3 or 4. I hate em lol I like short a draugh as possible.

  • I learnt to ring on a draught longer than this, so towers like this are no problem.

  • @irkibby fair enough, I can ring em fine i just don't feel comfortable with them I like to feel full control and immediate response more.

Theres a church thats part of a college down south cannot remember for life of me where it is now but it has a ring of 6 and is the highest rope draft ive ever seen.

It was so big too the lowest rope guides were indivdual on each corner piller of the tower and this was smack bang right in the middle of the church.

  • @SrWilson3s Cricklade??

  • @anonmonen Just checked yep thats the one St Sampsons.

  • @SrWilson3s That would be Cricklade!! Rope guides are too high, they are anti clockwise, and have a 665-foot rope draught!! Would like to go back.... in a million years time!!

Crowland in Lincs have a 90-foot draught, didnt ring, but saw the ropes and thought "sh*t!!"At least they have proper guides (4 of them!!) and at a reasonable height!!

  • @SrWilson3s Not at Swindon Village, Cheltenham, Glos, you wont.

The low draught is their downfall - the sallies on 2 & 3 in particular get caught sometimes when coming off the wheel, making them easily missable, especially when your not expecting it.

They do sound good though, and they are in a HEXAGONAL TOWER :)
