I'm old enough to have experienced Camel in consert at "Club 7", Oslo, Norway in the eighties. Hymn to her is Andrew Latimer and Camel's best composition ever. Colin Bass' singing is more than good enough. Thanks!
Anyone agree with me that this sounds quite like Dutch band Focus? Focus is my favorite prog rockband and also has a lot of great melodies and experimentation. So I like this song because of the melody.
@royalsteven Camel and Focus have something in common;both bands have a truely unique sound.Prog rock bands, but very different.Thijs van Leer and Andy Latimer are the "Beethovens" of our time, amongst others of course.
Many thanks to the person who posted this video! Camel is every bit as fantastic in person as shown in this example.
I had the rare privilege to see this tour before Andy Latimer fell ill with myelofibrosis. Please pray for his ongoing recovery from bone marrow surgery that we may once again see him on stage and in the studio.
And please buy some of his albums in solidarity. Support the band!
One of the most under rated bands ever and never got the media attention they deserved. Andy is again so under rated as a guitar player. One of my top players ever.
Andy our prayers are with God for you that you come to know him before you leave us. We pray that He gives you more time with us so you can bless us with the gift he gave you.
Can't believe the inmense talent they have. I love the intro of this song...But my favorite has to be Ice. Well,I'm a sucker for songs like Echoes, Air Born, Curiosity and Fingertips. If only people at my age (15) would listen to this beauty....People need to know more about this stuff. It's genius, it's emotional, it's inspiring... It's everything. Thank you Camel, for giving us this adventure through your marvelous music. Prog forever!
I lived my world for/with Camel when I was a teen and then some years until now. God Bless the original members, just a smile or a smirk made my day back then. We are just blessed that Andy stayed and kept his music alive. It never changed as long as Andy remained true. I love you so much and wishes for stronger guitar strings soon. you made an addition to Heaven for us that won't fit. Love, Louise
I've loved this band since I was first introduced to them while in college in the mid-70's. One of my greatest regrets was not ever having seen them live. It breaks my heart that I probably will never get the chance. Prayers to Andy, and a hearty "thank you" for all the amazing music.
Well, if I'm not mistaken, Lady Fantasy was only an encore, a special treat for the once who attended the show... And also, Lady Fantasy just isn't the same without a Hammond Organ. I just don't feel that the synths and Lady Fantasy works well together...
I think this is the best version of this song! To hear it how it's supposed to be, buy the fantastic concert (Coming of Age) on CD or DVD from camelproductions..com.
Something is wrong with the sound quality here, and the concert is not from 2004 but from the concert in The Billboard Live Club in Hollywood US on March 13th 1997, wich eventually lead to the livepiece Coming of Age, from where this clip is taken from.

They're nothing short of magnificent. Underrated certainly, but this type of 'musical' pop/rock tends only to appeal to a minority. This stuff lasts.
