it was supposed to be a joke, in that, in the NHL, some of the teams, Phoenix, and Minnesota I believe, play this song after the goal horn, every time the home team scores a goal. Therefore the crowd gets all wild, and they chant.

Here, my joke was, since Aussies probably don't have hockey, or there is less exposure to it, that they feel like there wasn't a goal scored somewhere, and therefore they weren't energetic with that song. Having a goal horn before it really helps.

There are lots of bits from other songs in that song. It was on purpose. Originally it was supposed to be called "Party on the Enterprise". But he couldn't get the rights to the StarTrek sounds. It was supposed to be a bunch of tunes pasted together with the ST sounds holding them together so you get the idea of a big party with musicians playing old favorites and chanting them out in the crowd. ST bits got removed, but all the rest stayed the same.

I assume you would define "rip" loosely as copy, or perhaps you might even say steal. I hope perhaps when you get a little bit older, and a little bit wiser that you might realize that in this postmodern world, everything is basically "ripped" from something already done. Nothing is done anymore that hasn't done. Especially in art and music. We've built it up as high as we can, and we've broken it down as much as we can. Practically everything has been done in some way or another.

then search for "faure pavane" in youtube, and listen to the first hit ( painted picture with trees.)

taking a nice phrase from classicals is not a big deal, rappers do that all the time, but it is good to know who wrote the original.

oh WOW! ok that melody that sounds similar is the rhythm melody, backing up the lead woodwind instruments. IF satch copied it, he changed the rhythm of that backing melody, added intensity(distortion), and also used his own backing track. Satch did enough to make it his own.
