@waynerp While the United States does do a lot of things it shouldn't do (unnecessary military intervention, meddling economic policy, etc.) the amount of fuel we use doesn't mean the amount of fuel we use makes us evil. Yes, we could do better, but we are the largest industrial economy in the world, having a larger percentage of global GDP than all of the European Union, while they have 200 million more people than us. Why doesn't the EU start outputting more, hmm?

@waynerp I do agree with you that people driving around wasteful vehicles unnecessarily is stupid, but at least some of them need that for their jobs or they can't afford the most fuel efficient thing out there and just drive whatever they have. Also, in some places people need four wheel drive automobiles and some SUVs are cheaper than the smaller, more fuel efficient 4 wheel drive automobiles. Don't use blanket statements decrying "the yanks."

Also, we loaned a lot of money to Western Europe to help rebuild infrastructure, etc. (Look up the Marshall Plan. The clue is, this is a sad response after General Motors was bailed out. This vehicle clearly need more work to it with top speeds of 35 per hour and a battery that will only last for a total of 35 miles. Let's not forget safety. integrating this on the road with other vehicles namely the other GM gas guzzlers that block out the horizon is just asking for lawsuits.

The more I look at this early prototype PUMA based on its URBAN application, the better I think the idea actually is.

The average car only has one occupant at any given time. You can park 6 PUMAs in the space of ONE regular car and get 2 PUMAs side by side in each car lane putting a HUGE dent in congestion commute times, fuel use & pollution.

Only $0.35 cents to go 35 miles at 35-mph!

This may be the answer once this early prototype is "fleshed-out" with full body, doors, etc.

Nice concept and a good idea for people who have other cars. Segway's cost $6k, these will cost $12k.

Cool & fun for students commuting to college or high school.

Seqways and Pumas are a perfect fit for rail travel, but most trains don't allow Segways.

These could fit on a boat and open up travel opportunities where the hassle or expense to rent a car is not justified.

I often travel by boat and see myself, exploring not just harbors and marinas, but nearby towns.
