we arn't gonna have much choice but to use these things in the future. why?? because the retards that helped design this thing are the reason we will.
simply put for simple people ,,
the yanks driving their pointless 6 litre suv's and pick ups using fuel at a ridiculous rate. in about 30 years their won't be any oil left, mainly because of the worlds main contributor, yep USA. nice one well done retards.
@waynerp While the United States does do a lot of things it shouldn't do (unnecessary military intervention, meddling economic policy, etc.) the amount of fuel we use doesn't mean the amount of fuel we use makes us evil. Yes, we could do better, but we are the largest industrial economy in the world, having a larger percentage of global GDP than all of the European Union, while they have 200 million more people than us. Why doesn't the EU start outputting more, hmm?
@waynerp I do agree with you that people driving around wasteful vehicles unnecessarily is stupid, but at least some of them need that for their jobs or they can't afford the most fuel efficient thing out there and just drive whatever they have. Also, in some places people need four wheel drive automobiles and some SUVs are cheaper than the smaller, more fuel efficient 4 wheel drive automobiles. Don't use blanket statements decrying "the yanks."
@waynerp You should also remember that the US helped Europe out tremendously in both world wars with arms shipments, as well as military support as they progressed. Also, we loaned a lot of money to Western Europe to help rebuild infrastructure, etc. (Look up the Marshall Plan. Our aid may have not been the main reason the economy recovered, but we still were trying to help). If you dislike some of US policy be specific, don't attack the collective American people.
I think it is cute!!!! I like the Segway and I don't like to stand all the time. This could be used to explore nature on trails and things so you don't scare the animals with a noisy engine. I wouldn't mind having one.
My thoughts are, what if someone walks out in front of you, and you have to slam on your brakes... how quickly is this thing going to stop without tipping over and skidding on it's windshield?
this MIGHT work if everyone had one at the same time... but that's impossible because we're never going to give up cars. and when i say never, i mean NEVER. it would take something drastic like a collapse and rebuilding of the entire world.
I think the design needs just a bit more work, but the concept is awesome. Considering the problems we have with air pollution and fossil fuel consumption, I sincerely hope that this is the wave of the future. I would definitely buy one if the design improves a little.
The clue is, this is a sad response after General Motors was bailed out. This vehicle clearly need more work to it with top speeds of 35 per hour and a battery that will only last for a total of 35 miles. Let's not forget safety. integrating this on the road with other vehicles namely the other GM gas guzzlers that block out the horizon is just asking for lawsuits.
It never ceases to amaze me how petty, critical and short sited people are and can be. Considering our energy demands and our issues with foreign oil and carbon emissions This concept is a good idea, at least someone out there is putting forth ideas and trying to help solve our problems instead of sitting on the sidelines and pointing there fingers and complaining.
Who ever said "that you can't throw pearls before swine" was absolutely correct! - Jeezee!.. get a clue people!
Dumbasses still don't get it. Americans don't want this shit...they want reasonable gasoline and diesel prices. Who is actually going to buy one of these pieces of shit...has anyone noticed how people drive? The only people that would drive one of these has a fucking deathwish. Is this actually suppose to be one of the salvations for GM? Fucking hilarious.
The cost to re charge the battery with home sick electrons is one (cheap).
The cost to replace the battery that contains the home sick electrons may just be entirely opposite (expensive) due to the amount of cycles (charges) the battery is capable of doing.
The more I look at this early prototype PUMA based on its URBAN application, the better I think the idea actually is.
The average car only has one occupant at any given time. You can park 6 PUMAs in the space of ONE regular car and get 2 PUMAs side by side in each car lane putting a HUGE dent in congestion commute times, fuel use & pollution.
Only $0.35 cents to go 35 miles at 35-mph!
This may be the answer once this early prototype is "fleshed-out" with full body, doors, etc.
Great engineering designs, sadly only for the uber rich and not an answer to real problems. Sell PHEV's and EREV's. Don't buy a new car until they offer a plug.

The gov. just took over GM recently, how long you been living under a rock retard. This wheel chair has been a concept way before the market started collapsing. It was Americans who came up with the idea to be more Japanese. And I betcha your Ford will follow...heck, an Asian guy lead the design team of the new Mustang. LOL
If Toyota or Honda were doing this instead of GM, all we'd be hearing about is the vision, innovation, blah blah etc. and "Detroit's further slide into the abyss".
So GM sticks their neck out, and all we hear is how stupid it is.
Because Toyota made this fucking sweet ass chair thing made out of carbon-fiber instead......its sooooooo much fucking better. GM was just wasting time and money trying to keep pace with an automaker with a cavernous pocketbook. They really should be concentrating on NOT mooching off taxpayer's money.
p.s. I can hear the advertising jingle now, they'll have Lenny Kravitz singing,

Nice concept and a good idea for people who have other cars. Segway's cost $6k, these will cost $12k.
Cool & fun for students commuting to college or high school.
Seqways and Pumas are a perfect fit for rail travel, but most trains don't allow Segways.
These could fit on a boat and open up travel opportunities where the hassle or expense to rent a car is not justified.
I often travel by boat and see myself, exploring not just harbors and marinas, but nearby towns.
Thumbs up!
