  • Sad that he uses the wrong notes at 1:32 and 1:39. Other than that, a great performance.

  • @jerdhambone true

  • i love hearing everybody's different interpretation of the song. anyone know why he plays after 2:24 faster than every other version i have heard?

  • as i listen to this piece i feel as if i'm walking walking into the depths of hell itself.

He is truly a master at this piece.

  • what can i say? best interpretation ever

  • hmmm, the one thing id argue against from this performance is the quickness with which he fluctuated tempos between sections, i think you should ease into your new tempo "only as fast as a conductor could slow down or speed up his orchestra"

  • Icarus makes an impressive connection with this piece. The dynamics are all there, lyricism, it's amazing.

  • BY FAR the best version of this i've seen yet. Ah! I want to learn this by the end of summer. that is my goal.

  • @1freakmusic He plays undoubtedly well, he really does. Check out Lola Astanova's rendition of this piece, you'll like hers as well.

  • Excellent interpretation...I for one appreciate the drama and feeling put into it. I've been playing for about a month now an he plays this quit a bit differently than I do...and it looks a lot easier his way, lol.

  • @SPLEclipse Depends on if you follow notes or midi.

  • i wish i had long finger like you.

  • Why do you omit the C# on the right hand at 2:56???

  • Gives me the creeps

  • "Ok, so how many cameras were actually on you?"

    - Chandler Bing

  • I heared this piece in the exorcism of Emily Rose, and I really wanted to play it. Sadly Im afraid I can't play the part starting at 1.44.

really a shame that I'm a too bad player to play pieces like this :(

but I'll at least try to play it up to 1.44 :)

thanks for the clear video! should help me play it.

  • @Bazch hey, you can do anything you put your mind to.

  • It sucks !

  • this was too perfect lol

  • Thank you for playing my favorite piece. Beautiful

  • Thank you for playing this it is my favorite piece. Beaautiful.

  • ooohh goosebumps!!

  • amazing piece, one of my favourite rachmaninoff preludes. the middle "agitato" section is very complicated and the final part with 4 staves at FFF is simply amazing and very powerful

  • thanks for all the compliments, guys, but it is not me that performs this. I found this video on Icarus' personal website, Icarus3.com

  • @Wh0rse icarus has the marfan's syndrome?

  • i think is more beautiful play this piece with a quality piano =)

  • very, very nice. I had my doubts at the beginning but that only lasted like 10 seconds because you were going faster than I, and other musicians I have heard before typically go at the beginning. Fantastic job. Three thumbs up. Two from me and the third from your prematurely dead sister.

  • really smart!

  • This Version it's too slooooooow!

  • @GiangioBangio actually he's playing it a little faster than the actual tempo, it's definitely not too slow

  • @cherrytreethatsme63 In my opinion it's too slow but it's great however >,<

  • I played piando long time ago. I played this piece actually and after heard you, I want to tray to play it again.

You do it so well. Congratulations

  • i can play this by ear. i like music you dont have to sight read, what a pleasure. rach's best piece, well and his piano concerto. but he doesnt go off on tangents here.

  • it's very good. Work more on the agitato, your right hand is not regular enough in the speed. Cheers

  • Simply stunning.

  • Very good!!! I enjoy it!

  • Beautiful, I can play this song, you play it well :)

  • i think i just got a hard on. perfect interpretation in my view.

  • somebody help me! on the 3rd measure for left hand, after the low A's there's the chords that have a natural and sharp signs next to them. what do i do?!

  • @ForeverLenore The right hand is natural and the left hand has sharps. None of the notes are the same, so just play it like it looks.

  • Wow man!... Im learning that right now to... its being hard for me too... i dont have good note reading...=/... but at least my hands can play it well xD

  • @ronnieandrew1 Same My friend same.

  • Jealous, I am.

  • Learning this right now. hard ass mofo

  • I'd prefer if the overhead video was as if I was playing. This feels upside-down. $.02

  • i'm 18 and yet i cant play that song ,that isnt good if i wanna be a good pianist

  • im 16 and i have started to learn this piece. I hope i will because i believe that im going to learn it.. try more and im sure you will learn it too because its not a VERY VERY hard piece. good luck**

  • yeah tx i hope so im gonna continue practice it anbd when i can play so good i will upload it for you can see it

  • This is a 'piece'. A song is where someone sings :)

  • It's not as hard as it seems I'm eighteen and I just started playing and this is the the second piece i am learning. The agitato part is a bit difficult at first but I'm getting used to it.

  • 1:33 and 1:44is the wrong chord!!!!

that was the only part that i found to be horrible.

  • yes, i heard it too :(

  • I love the dedication

  • splendide remarquable je suis bluffé

  • i, personally, absolutely love this piece. ppl should play it with power and desperation. very nice. maybe a bit more dramatic.

  • sffff just means subito fortissississimo. basically means suddenly really really really loud. nothing to do with the tempo. speed is all interpretation for piano pieces. its harder for an symphony to bend the rules though because its 1 man conducting 100+ people when piano playing is just you and yourself. he played the piece quite well in my oppinion

  • Well you, being an up your own arse music major, should know that tempo directions and dynamic directions usually go hand in hand. I am just a mere musician who has no qualifications and i know for sure that it is a common mistake to speed up with a louder dynamic and to slow down with a softer dynamic. This is what this guy did...he got too excited is all.

  • how can you be up your own arse if your a music major? you make now sense

  • Nice!

  • nice vid i lov that song

  • this is NOT a song.

    songs have words.

    you love this piece.

  • Cept for Mendelssohn's set of songs.

  • nawice tune!

  • i was a music major for 2 years and played trombone for 7 and ill still say song till this day. then again i wasn't an anal prick like most of the other music majors xD. if you think about it "song" in this day and age is just generally used for any music. i still call all solos and piano pieces. "piece" but if its a symphonic piece ill say song every now and then.

  • best version i´ve ever heard of this piece. i play the piano too, and now i got really motivated to try this one on. =) thank you for your beautiful video

  • you're welcome, and thank you

  • @suhaeroland you are idiot !!!

  • @suhaeroland dude that waz 2 fast in the middle im 13 and im playin that for upcomig 3rd year scholarship

    he kinda messed it up

  • At first I thought, "Oh God, he's going to fast," but I was pleasantly surprised. :]

  • Yes, he didn't fast, he ate something right after the end.

  • HAHA yea i get it lol. NICE ONE :D

  • HAHA!! LOL! puniliscious

  • @alexkonow "That's what she said"

Lol, I agree though, pleasantly surprising :D
