  • Most important Senatorial speech of the last 20 years. RIP.

  • So whats the thesis statement? :P

  • So sad that Byrd has to end his career and life in what he knew was a very low point for The US. He knew from the very beginning what a disaster this would be. What a waste of lives and time and money. Oh well. The US is still a young country. Maybe one day it will learn.

  • hes amazing! loved the speech. i never understood fully why we're in war

  • a FRAUDULENT war ...so many lost...thank you Robert Byrd and may you rest in peace.

  • If you are in favor of this speak, you are also a Terrorist, Communist, Marxist, Radical, Satanist, Nonreligious, Unpatriotic, Insane, Pacifist, Elitist, Socialist, Extremist, Fanatic, Pro Choice, Pro Gay, Pro Gun Control, Pro Darwinism, Etc…. You get the picture… God doesn’t like you very much.

  • @MyMindTank I support the Afghan war 110%....We went to war in Afghanistan because the Talban were harboring Al-Quada operatives who in Semtember 11 2001 destroyed the Twin Towers in New York....

Iraq had nothing too do with this attack..... we went to war claiming they had WMD's....they did not.... its not like the Iraq war is not justifible...what we are doing there is 100% good... but we had no reason to go to war..

I am the most Patriotic american loveing gung hole man..but ur a idiot!

  • @TheGefro Please my friend, watch these documentaries: Loose Change 2nd Edition (Full); Zeitgeist: The Movie; Zeitgeist: Addendum; Zeitgeist: Moving Forward. They will change your life...

  • @MyMindTank alright i'll watch them and get back to you....

  • @MyMindTank alright i'll watch them and get back to you....

  • @TheGefro Great! Thanks my friend...

  • Only the indoctrinated would refute this speech. Only the brainwashed would refute that 9/11 was an inside job. Only noncritical thinkers would refute that Capitalism works for society. Only the weak-minded would refute that money is a false incentive that conditions humans to compete. Only the easily persuaded would believe that politicians change things and we live in a country of Democracy. Only the slave would refute that war isn't natural, and peace can't come from understanding.

  • Yeah, Iraqis really miss Saddam 1974 -- Dawa Killings 1980 -- Fayli Deportations and Killings 1983 -- Barzani Abductions 1988 -- Al-Anfal Campaign 1988 -- Halabja Gassing 1990s -- Marsh Arabs Devastated 1990 -- Invasion of Kuwait 1991 -- Kurdish and Shiite Rebellions 1999 -- Al-Sadr Assassination Tyranny and Oppression, that's all Iraq has known till now
  • I don't blame this guy on his ignorance, he must've had alzheimers and didn't remember 9/11. I don't know about the rest of you people.

  • @phantom1000A Haha you idiot... Iraq had nothing too do with 9,11 that was Al-quada..who was hideing out in Afghanistan.....protected by the evil regime the ''Taliban'' (Reason for going to war in Afghaistan) we didnt go to war in iraq because of 9,11.... jeez i love america but believe me when i say this people like you make america look bad! Educate yourself!

  • Ok, this guy was previously in the KKK, he filibustered against the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and supported the war in Vietnam and y'all are actually praising him?

This guy is nothing but a career politician.

    Do your research folks...

  • @ruvvjub

At Least byrd regrets it, at least he was against the iraq war from the beginning.

  • this guy iz amazing ud be BARBERIC!!!! not to like him

  • what an intelligent man. RIP byrd

  • A lot of people like to bring up the fact that in his past Robert Byrd was quite the racist bigot. I have no respect for racists and bigots. But what made Robert Byrd different was that he showed contempt for his previously held viewpoints and his actions. He regretted them and he openly expressed this regret. It takes a real man to admit their mistakes like Senator Byrd had done. So I have much respect for this man.

  • @derekxnl well said, if on;y more Americans were so enlightened...

  • A truly proud moment in American politics. I wish more people listened. Thank you for your service Senator, rest in peace.

  • Byrd was a bum, Today Iraq is free due to the courage of our troops and Pres. George W. Bsh.

  • @zagat44 yeah and you're a delusional/ mentally retarded fucking morn...

  • @zagat44 That is not why we invaded Iraq. It was because of the misinformation(and lies) about WMD. If we invaded solely to liberate the people the American public would never have supported the was. Bush got support for the war by misleading Americans into believing Iraq was tied to 9/11.

  • @dillondwight absolutely, and nothing to do with oil, of course !!

  • Here is a man who was raised from a very young age to be racist. Even though he knew racism was incorrect he slipped up and let his enviroment get the better of him. This doesn not mean he was a bad man, we all mess up sometimes.

  • That's what's up.

  • Good job fuck faces up in the office fucking up america look nothing has happened in iraq so far besides mutherfucking non sence what pieces of shit bush, chainy, and all the cunt in the government who screwed up our country and obama is fucking it up even more... what happend to that can do spirt that made america so great

  • USA is not # 1

  • It´s time to stop it!!

Watch the amazing IRAQ music video on my channel!

    One love!!!

  • @stopdiwar Translate your video into English?

  • Ron Paul in 2012!

  • eww...Elizabeth Dole

  • all the wisdom people are old :( sucks, this country will go to hell in couple of years, Ron Paul is the hope for America, but i don't think that the US will be awaken any time soon :(

  • Oh yes the last thing is What a fine Sothern Gentalman and how much he has changed from his youth. as we all have

  • Oh my this gentalman was a brilliant and eliquant speaker. Sad that his thoughts and speach was missed until he passed. I wish I had a chance to meet him and dig into his wonderful thought.

As a CANADIAN I wish some of our own politicos would have the same BRASS BALLS SEN Robert Byrd has. I have watched him for years and hate him or love him he could have made a GREAT PRESIDENT for the USA.

  • @tinroofbusted If you're Canadian, why are the politics of the United States of any concern to you? Your politicians made their own choice to join in the Iraq conflict. Why do you feel it is your need to denounce the decisions of the American government if they are totally unresponsible for Canada's actions?

  • @humbleb4god, A great PM of Canada once said " living next to you (the USA ) is like sleeping with an Elephant, we feel every movement and bump in the night. The politics of the US affects my pension and savings and investments. It affects my countrys security, It affects WORLD SECURITY The US is the new World police. This was the US Governments Choice. So Yes I do beleave The politics of the USA is a concern of mine and of the worlds.

  • @humbleb4god Now Dont think Im Anti-America, I am Pro American. I Love the people of your fine country and admire many of your politicos. Yes the Politicians made a choice. It was against the majority of Canadians choice. What I disagree with more is the deaths of all the fine service personel that have died for this foolishness, So-many dead and for what OIL and fighting against Terrorism. Let them kill each other off then we will deal with who is left that will be the real trouble maker

  • God bless Robert Byrd

  • R.I.P.

    A lion of the Senate.

  • In his final years "The Dean of The Senate" became one of few who heroically challeged the tyranny of the Bush/Cheney occupation.

  • @dahoss2x "Lawyers, judges, bankers and others were in the Klan, and so I joined it. I've regretted that. I've apologized for it. There's nothing more I can do, except I speak plainly when I condemn the Klan and its tactics. I've, I think, improved and grown since that time. And I would urge young men not to join the Klan." ~Sen. Robert Byrd in an interview with Terry Gross in Fresh Air Remembers Sen. Robert Byrd

  • it does my heart good to see some people can let his goods out weigh one bad and accecpt an appology

  • You were a wise & noble man Senator Byrd. If only we all could learn from our mistakes and change the course of our lives accordingly.

    Peace be with you.

  • The last speech I heard him give : "For Shame .....For Shame!" when those cretinous asses the Republican party forced that 60-40 vote on Christmas Eve. From his friggin wheelchair at 11:30 p.m.

  • God bless you, Sen. Byrd . . . your wisdom went unheeded. We're sorry. Rest in peace.

  • RIP, Mr. Byrd.

  • I will always have the greatest respect for this man because of this speech. Rest In Peace

  • It's hard to believe that only about 25k people have viewed this. This is one of the best and significant speeches in the history of the United States Senate.

  • It's unfortunate he had to die. And just after passing health care reform!

Perhaps that's something he'll be remembered for. If only the reforms had a real effect and made a public option. People forget tax credits and such easily (just look at how people today ignored the $360 billion in tax cuts in the Stimulus Package). If only the bill created a government insurance program, rather than just giving funds to purchase private insurance. Though the regulations were good.

  • This was so right on!! Didn't he give this speech in the early morning hours? This was only shown on CSPAN as I recall. Where were the media? Oh yea, they had flashy logos about going to war and Fox was cheering Bush on, disgraceful. If only the american people hadn't been so brainwashed and dumbed down.

  • God Bless Senator Byrd, and God Bless West Virginia.

  • We weakened our alliances, our economy and, worst of all, our sacred honor. We're poorer for this war in so many ways. There may be a long-term payoff from having a somewhat democratic government in the heart of this oil-rich region, but I think we'd have been better off investing $1 trillion in alternative energy and new energy innovations like Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors (LFTR), Travelling Wave, Fusion and electric-powered mass transit.

Given the choice, I'd rather bet on ourselves.

  • Rest in peace, Senator Byrd. You were right.

  • RIP Byrd.

  • Byrd made some big mistakes during his careers, but he learned from them. Joining the KKK was surely one of them and people do stupid stuff when they are young. The great men such as Byrd learn from those mistakes and use it to the benefit of others.

    A great man for sure.

  • Like a wise, old sage. If only we listened to him.

RIP Bobby Byrd. Your fellow West Virginians will always remember you.

  • R.I.P., hero.

  • Maybe his finest hour. R.I.P

  • All this crap about the klan is crap. You don't find it impressive that a young man who joined the klan when he didn't know NUTHIN , then had the courage tyo renounce it when he got smarter? Senator Byrd served the poor. He argued passionately for the rights of the poor, black and white, domestic and foreign and that is exactly why those who despise him do despise him.

  • @grandmachristine42 White man in the South? You're expected to be in the Klan during the time he grew up. Bizarre in our age, common then

  • thy red skull speacks truth

  • open your eye's this was all to do with fixing oil prices and an oil pipeline through afganistan

  • Quelqu'un peut me le traduire en francais svp ? =(

  • And don't tell me this war is a success. My sister just came back last year from Iraq and she knows too its a no win war. Thankfully were pulling out now, albeit too slowly. We should be out of Afghanistan too, that is another no win zone.

  • We are so caught up with that we make irrational decisions. These usually cost us ridiculous tax burdens that we won't be able to repay. It really sucks. And its because of people like you, who can't make a rational argument and really try to get to the bottom of an issue, behind the lies and special interests.

  • You're praise of Reagan seems not to stem from empirical evidence of his greatness, but from an emotional trigger. Ah well, just makes you look stupider.

  • @hotamali You cannot be helped.. You are a DUMBASS, NOT a Republican. Go back to your rock and crawl under it for a year or two, until Ron Paul dies of old age.

  • @dahoss2x And yet again you fail to address my argument and resort to Ad hominem attacks. You really sound like a 12 year old, I'm sorry. And for the record I never said I was a republican, you seem to think since I support Paul I am one.

  • @hotamali I give up trying to reason with you, if you cannot even give Reagan some of the credit that he deserves.

  • @dahoss2x Yes, he deserves credit, but doesn't need to be held up as the greatest man ever all the time by right wingers. He had flaws and alot of people don't know that he made some bad choices. But it wasn't his fault. He only was going along with the idea that the United States can be an interventionist in world affairs. He really shouldn't have been trying to check the flow of communism to other countries, while we couldn't contain our own country's drug problem.

  • @dahoss2x The War on Drugs was, is and will continue to be a failure. Costing taxpayers billions of dollars each year and funding drug cartels in South America. Our politicians are too ideological, democrats and republicans, too caught up with ideological reason to say.. Go to war against the Soviet union and China through the surrogates Vietnam and Korea, and eventually lose gaining nothing. Or when we go to war in 2003 on an ideological mindset of bring peace and democracy to the middle east.

  • @hotamali We WON the Iraq war, despite the cowardice cries from the left and your Ron Paul. We did however fight that war on their terms, do to the fact that the left insisted on a ground war with limited civilian casualties. I too believe the war on drugs is a waste of time and money... not to mention prison space and the cost of incarcerating drug abusers. So we can at least agree on that.

  • @dahoss2x way to forse democricy on good people and spread depleated uranium all around there country. You guys invaded an inoccent country and Karma will come back to you on this.

  • @1freedomfighter11 Please take a basic spelling class.

  • @dahoss2x

    What did we win?

  • As well as his ramping up of the War on drugs, which killed countless more and further empowered South American drug cartels. And that Nancy Reagan with "Just Say No". Yeah, like thats gonna work on a heroin addict. Also, No matter what you say Reagan was good for it doesn't make up for how he funded AND trained terrorists Contras in the South America that killed innocent civilians, in the name of "stopping a communist regime".Nothing gave us the right to help insurgents attack a sovereign state

  • The state of the soviet economy was in decline years before Reagan took office. Sure he may have been a nice cheerleader, but he did nothing to directly collapse the soviet Union. And thats really what no one understands. The USSR would have fallen MAYBE a year or a few later if Reagan wasn't president.

  • Reagan came in to the office of President with some very specific goals cutting the size of the federal government, getting the government out of the back pockets of the American people, reducing the tax burden on American citizens, and bringing about an end to the evil empire of the Soviet Union. From day one, Reagan worked feverishly and systematically towards coming up with solutions to each and every one of the aforementioned problems and in doing so, rejuvenated the American spirit

  • @dahoss2x saying Reagan ended the cold war is nonsense. For one, the system was bound to fail from the start, it was only sustainable for so long.the main reason it fell in the early 90's was not because of Reagan, in the late 80's due to new technological communication devices, phone, faxes, teletype, computers, etc. enabled democratic communication amongst more and more people.

  • @dahoss2x No wait a minute I"m an American too. He cheered the rightwing; he disgusted the rest of us.

  • Also, to say that supporters of Paul are republican in name only is wrong. Traditional Republican ideal are in line with what Paul says, as in non-interventionalist foreign policy, advocation of free market politics and libertarianism. The assholes that have hijacked the party these days are authoritarian nutjobs who think they can impose their moral justice on the rest of us.

  • @hotamali You are wrong again. Ronbots only wish they were Reagan Republicans.

  • @dahoss2x Reagan was over-rated. He is falsley credited with ending the Cold War and trickle down economics is nonsense, economic growth would have occured anyway. Not to mention that whole Iran Contra fiasco.

I'd reall love to hear an argument from you instead of just shouting "RONBOT DURRRRRRRR" You are obviously a social conservative, which usually equates your intellectual level with that of a small rodent.

  • @hotamali Your stupidity regarding Ronald Reagan only proves my point that you are no Republican. Ronbots such as yourself try to show intelligence when they are cowardly liberals attempting to destroy the GOP. I think Ron is almost as old as Grand Poobah Byrd... You are an ignoramus.

  • @dahoss2x Ok, so how am I wrong about Reagan? Why was he so great?

  • @hotamali First of all, Reagan restored the disaster that was the Carter economy(20%inflation, 20& interest rates, record unemployment). Secondly, he restored our status as world Superpower by standing up to the Soviets when the Polish Solidarity movement was in its infancy by organizing an economic blockade of the Soviets for their imposition of marshall law on Poland. He also demanded the return of our hostages from Iran and got them hours into his Presidency when carter would not.

  • @hotamali Reagan also successfully toppled communist regimes in Latin, Central and South Americas respectfully. While his tax reforms restored the US economy making his domestic policy legendary, this pales in comparison to his foreign policy accomplishments. He funded the development of a missle defense system, when ALL of the Democrats faught it with claims of "star wars".

  • @hotamali Reagan boldly stood at the Brandenburg gate and told Gorbachev to "open this gate, tear down this wall". He won the Cold War without ever firing a single shot. For these and many other things he will forever be remembered as one of the greatest Presidents in US history... Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

  • @dahoss2x that wouyld be some very bad dope.

  • @hotamali Reagan also coined the term "evil empire' for the Soviet union and their iron curtain strategy of oppression of Eastern Europe... Peace through strength was his motto, and indeed this worked to perfection as the Soviets could not keep up with our military and continue to feed their people, and control Europe both.

  • @hotamali Excuse me, when was that Republican tradition of noninterventionism? Not in Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Chili, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Grenada, Cuba, Venezuela, Columbia, Guatemala., Angola, etc etc. Of course most of the Dems weren't either. . . .we may have had 3 noninjterventionist Repukes and maybe 80 such Dems not enough for peace.

  • Too bad people weren't listening to Sen Byrd way back in 2002 and 2003. Maybe he learned something over his long life.

  • Democrat Byrd is a former Grand POOBAH of the West Virginia chapter of the.... Ku Klux Klan. This is no great man, but instead a cowardise racist who lectures about "our image around the globe"? What a fool.

  • @dahoss2x people should have listened to Sen Byrd. His speech ought to be replayed over and over in high school history classes.

  • @Trekkerjon You are an idiot. What about his Ku Klux Klan speeches? Should those be played over and over in history classes also? This racist moron is a hooded clown. I wonder how many blacks this KKK member has lynched with his own ropes? Murder has no statute of limitations... In case you did not know.

  • @dahoss2x

The real 'fool' is the one that is unable to appreciate that a mind CAN HOLD, is designed to hold multiple positions, especially when some of those positions are separated by much time and much experiencing.

  • @nirbija You make no sense at all. Not only are you illiterate, you obviously have no idea what the Ku Klux Klan is, or was when Byrd was burning crosses. Now, go get an education you fool.

  • @dahoss2x

Does the fact that byrd was wrong EARLIER in being part of the devilish kkk, means that byrd must be wrong LATER about the UNPROVOKED and hellish Iraq war of the bush devil?

I doubt you know what the word 'illiterate' means; but we are sure that you represent well the word 'fool'; and that is why you toss it around with such reckless abandon.

  • @nirbija First of all, He should never have been ELECTED as a member of the Senate. Secondly, he was WRONG AGAIN, because the Iraq war was a valid and just action based upon the best intelligence we had. Also, Sadaam Hussein is dead NOW. And the people of Iraq have freely ELECTED politicians for the first time ever! I suppose YOU would rather have a dictator who invades Kuwait and funds TERRORISM while systematically eliminating his political opposition via EXECUTION! Dumbass.

  • @dahoss2x

using that logic we should invade every country that has a corrupt government in order to set up a democratic way of life. Who cares if we force democracy on them as long as they get to freely elect whoever we let them am I right?

  • @kyleb1337 Lest you forget, Sadaam Hussein and Iraq invaded Kuwait. The USA rescued them, as we have numerous Nations during the last one-hundred years. After 9-11-01 he acted on the intelligence that WMD's were present. Congress, including the majority of Democrats voted FOR the war. Ronbots like yourself are fraudulent RINO'S. Using your

  • @dahoss2x LOL. You're joking right? This has to be satire.

  • @hotamali Ronbots are RINOS(Republicans in name only). Besides, He is almost 100 years old!

  • @dahoss2x "Ronbots are RINOS(Republicans in name only). " What is that some fucking cryptic metaphor? English motherfucker, do you speak it?

  • @hotamali Disregard that, I suck cocks.

  • @hotamali Stupid COCKSUCKER you are a Ronbot.

  • @dahoss2x It's a meme moron.

  • @dahoss2x OK, so they're not REAL Republicans. But they"re not far enough away from them to be right yet.

  • @dahoss

Why do we get the distinct impression that opposition to byrd being elected US Senator has nothing to do with his membership in kkk, & that it had more to do with the fact that he backslid from the kkk?

In fact, we wouldn't be at all surprised if you are posting from behind YOUR kkk white sheet. lol

The UNPROVOKED invasion & mass murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi children, women, old people, etc have proven to be a FAILURE by intelligent minds!

    You just can't be taught

  • @nirbija Who is we? Speak for yourself you idiot. You are most likely an illegal immigrant from costa rica, a third world shithole dependent upon US tourism for survival, in addition to handouts from OUR country. USA#1

  • @dahoss2x quit playing with yourself

  • @Trekkerjon STOP FUCKING YOUR DOG1

  • He is the conscious of the Senate, possibly the County. My highest respects for this public servant.

  • I'm proud to be a WV and have him as my senator. Looks like he was way ahead on the thinking of the war. He stood alone. Yes proud of this man. Long live Senator Robert Bird!

  • hey kickass video could you check mine out?> if you like then please subscribe =) keep up the good work!

  • very smart,,,only if they had a crystal ball..the war with iraq was stupid

  • What about the "Gulf of Tonkin" Byrd?

  • He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored

  • well said at 5:15 and 5:25

  • A wonderful, erudite speech

  • This isn't bullshit. Senator Byrd is a great man and one of the few leaders of our country with the foresight and wisdom to actually hold a position of power.

  • The Klu Klux Klan. . .

  • @alltheshway PPFFFT A GOOD MAN,This sik fuk was or is involved in a mind control peadophile rings and is NWO SCUM,watch "Mind control out of control MK ULTRA" on google Cathy O'Brian blow the lid of of this corvideo's and listen to uption that goes to the top.

  • Accurately put, this is just a war of choice and now we are trying to build our great nation again to a standard that we have lost.

  • how so? i think he is a credit to the open to change mindset most democrats carry. great man, loves his country.

  • Only an extremist Republican could say that lol.

  • He does great anti-war speeches.

  • wow. It is so true how he says that we will have to rebuild after the war... more so than Iraq. It seems like that is what we are going thru right now in this country. I think because we spent all of our time and energy focusing on the "war" and now starting to come back to focusing on ourselves.

  • He was right on. He was right in all he said. You know I am right! Thank you Sir Senator Byrd! If only more wisdom like his exsisted...we would not be where we are today.

  • Senator Byrd is AWESOME!

  • I just scrolled down through the comments ...and to anyone who feels the need to make fun of this man- YOU SERIOUSLY NEED TO FUCK OFF...its disrespectful to our troops & its disrespectful to our country...the "clan" stuff is Way over & he knows he made a mistake

  • Criticizing Senator Byrd is not disrespectful; however, it is disrespectful to this nation to ignore the fact that Byrd was, for a significant part of his career, a prominent segregationist who felt the need to filibuster against the Civil Rights Act. Byrd is the most visible symbol of the South's disgusting past, and I find it repugnant that this sort of human being still serves in Congress today. His continued opposition of black nominees attests that Byrd's change in heart is only political.

  • The point is that he changed his views. He has publicly expressed regret. Unlike most politicians, such as H. Clinton with regard to the Iraq issue, Byrd has showed a capacity for self-criticism. He supported Obama - is that the attitude of a segregationist? Hardly. Get your facts right.

  • I was referring to his opposition of the confirmations of Thurgood Marshall, Clarence Thomas, and Janice Rogers Brown (all African-American judicial nominees). These, by the way, are facts. Byrd supported Obama for political reasons, nothing more.

  • Well said!

  • Byrd has given very valid reason for changing his mind, where many people born in the same era have not.

  • My absolute favorite human being on the planet. ...God bless our troops

  • If only this country had listened to Senator Byrd's wisdom and not followed Bush and Cheney into Iraq.

  • @SoftWolfTread Everyone else was calling him a raving old man, I sat there in front of the TV and said..."wow..this guy nailed it." Look where we are now eh?

  • The best speech was banned !!!!!

    WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY

  • The reason this speech was banned was because the Republicans and Bush didn't want egg on their faces. Back when Byrd made this speech, the Republicans were crucifying anybody who disagreed with Bush and painting them as a traitor who didn't care about the country or the troops. Now the Republicans are the ones who look like pansies.

  • A MUST See: HBO Documentary: Shouting Fire! BEST Documentary I have seen in my 50 years of life. You want to learn about the first amendment, your rights, and the Supreme Court, you might want to check this documentary out! WOW!

  • thanks !!!!!!!!!!

  • Courage at work, a great speech.

  • Too bad he was one of the few (democrat or republican) who had the guts to stand up against Bush. Hillary Cuntin and John Edwards valued their shitty political careers more than the country's well-being.

  • Sen. Byrd was a clan member. But he has shown time and time again with his politics and his actions that he has repented and no longer harbor those views. The proof is in the pudding.

  • how old are you............15 ?

  • 15 or not they like history

  • but if he were a republican oh then he would be trashed but he is a democrat so its ok for him to be a former klan member

  • The hypocrisy from the Republicans is staggering. Listen to them harp about Byrd and the KKK, or Ted Kennedy and Chappaquiddick. But George W. Bush going AWOL for a whole year from the National Guard or getting a DUI, oh, well, you can't hold those against him, it was all so long ago.

Ted Kennedy drove a car into a ditch. Bush drove the economy into one.

  • FUCK George W. Bush. He was a Bastard. I am glad he has disappeared. Hopefully he'll burn in hell.

  • I wonder what font he uses. I'm guessing 50, based on how often he changes pages

  • call him racist, but be respectful, do not call him pig. He raises his voice in time of great need.

  • I LOVE WHAT HE SPEAKS HE IS A GOOD MAN.

  • I watched this here in Australia, and it reignited my dwindling respect for the US.

  • robert byrd is a racist pig i cant beilive tht ppl look at a former kkk member as a hero

  • People can't evolve?

  • People change. I did things years ago I wouldn't even think of doing today. Are you the type that sees peoples beliefs as 'permanent'? The ideals you have once are somehow burned on your soul forever?

People evolve, and Byrd did just that. In fact he championed MANY civil liberty bills that more than reversed whatever trouble he himself caused.

He payed his dues and he did more than just 'repent', he actively changed and redeemed himself.

  • No doubt: Robert Byrd is a former member of the Ku Klux Klan. BUT he was against the Iraq War. That something I would have NEVER expected from such a racist pig like him... TIMES ARE CHANGING!

  • FORMER!!! Do you believe in redemption or forgiveness? Look the two words up, and appreciate what this great man has done for this country!

  • AlmirCCR; I remember seeing/hearing his Senate Floor Speech live Wednesday, February 12, 2003. I can't believe it was actually "banned" how is such censorship tolerated?

It's on dailymotion still to this day, anyone having a digital copy should definitely post it back here on youtube to see if it will be removed again.

such behavior cannot be tolerated! Many people have different points of view, some I agree with some I don't but they ALL have a right to be heard, and us to hear them.
