The good thing about warhead was that it included Global Ambient lighting, which made darker places look better, and some new shaders. The optimizations, mostly came from the map size being smaller, with less vegetation needed in the distance.

Graphics aren't represented by technical details. The vehicles in Crysis 1 may have higher resolution textures, but the vehicles in Warhead look far better artistic AND detail wise. More pronounced lighting and colors, more detailed textures coupled with new, better effects make Warhead the better looking game. At least in my eyes. Whoever says the sterile look of Crysis 1 is better than Warhead's is blind in my opinion.

I think warhead actually looks a little better than crysis as well as running smoother. And I can play them both on full spec with modifications to make them even more powerful than they originally were. This includes texture detail, water effects, particle effects and framerate.

Crytek REALLY shouldn't focus more on graphics than the actual fun, because Crytek said that they made the graphics for Crysis 2 high than Crysis one, and now heaps of people are saying that Crysis is much funner than Crysis 2. This is what happens when a company only focuses on graphics. It looks really cool and detailed and epic, but where's the fun?

@MrShnoxdog crysis 2 doesn't look nearly as good as the first one, this is because the second one was made for the xbox 360 and then ported to ps3 and pc. Yes Crysis 2 is easily the best looking game on console but that doesn't compare to the first one, or warhead at that.

@outlettered well dude dont blame consoles, i have a ps3 and a alienware pc, since i got pc i barely touch my ps3, but that dont mean it sux, it has some of the best games i have played, and yeah orignal crysis is coming to consoles,check it on wiki. and crysis 2 looks great but i think crytek got commercial and went COD style, still great graphics but i think warhead and orignal are better, but seriously even my killzone 3 on ps3 looks better than crysis 2.

@MrShnoxdog i think thats beacuse they know most people play through the campaign once and thats it. Crysis is more about having fun with your own creativity in sandbox than having fun in multiplayer or campaign. It might be different in crysis 2 but i know that in crysis 1 way more people made things in sandbox than played multiplayer.

Some SS's on Warhead look alot better than the regular Crysis, some SS's on Crysis look better than the ones on Warhead... I'd say they are the same.. Nevertheless, both have outstanding graphics.

they're almost same. only post-processing and area size is different. original crysis is more realistical and really open world. crysis warhead - shitty eyecandy post-effects (like crysis2), unrealistical and small areas. so, original crysis is easily best.

crysis is more realistic. Crysis warhead is more towards graphics than reality. The lighting on warhead is far better you see. Crysis warhead was optimized more cartoonish than crysis. It's your choice. Crysis = realism warhead = graphics

Yeah, but the Source engine can run on my laptop at about 30 fps at 1280 x 800... the Cry Engine at minimum settings and minimum resolution can barely push out 5 fps.

CrySis war head the graphics have reduced to a lower lever in order to sustain a better and smooth fps and a lot of memo leaks were fixed- in over roll the small reduction in graphics was done to small parts which you weren't notice any way.

In CrySis - (2010 PCrig) is much more beautiful and with the patches its run pretty well.

So if you gonna to choose then choose in what gameplay you would like -

Rambo style or a stealth farcry 1 approach ..

Well Crysis Warhead runs on a tweaked version of the Cryengine2, optimised slightly but not what you could call an full update, though with the advent of Crysis2 and invariably Cryengine3 it's technically easier to say Crysis Warhead runs on Cryengine2.5.

I think crysis looks better overall but warhead does better with lighting, however the first time I played crysis I died a million times because i couldn't stop going "how detailed is this close up". Before I got a gaming pc I thought gears 1 or killzone 2 was amazing graphically, and with crysis as I was parachuting down I thought this looks good. When I crash landed my first thought was consoles can't touch this. I almost sold my 360!

@d1michuser I'm a pc gamer myself, this is exactly why i prefer pc games because pc gets the latest in graphical technology. Most console gamers would be narrow minded to accept that fact, but it's true. With console all games are made to work efficiently for the console, for pc it's the other way around. Plus m/k just is more accurate for me, but it takes too much training for a console gamer to undertake when they are used to a controller by the age of 5. It's all preference in long run.
