@DonDuracell What do you mean by the quality of the VHS? Do you mean the unmastered look or the ink lines matching the paint? They both look good even today.
"Over at Warner Brothers the animators took a slightly different approach to their characters".
Yeah, that difference was actually being funny. And when Speilberg said this was for Walt, why didn't he mention Chuck Jones or Tex Avery? They had way more influence over the characters of this film than Walt did. And they actually made cartoons that were funny. Steam boat willy was never funny, its like watching people stand around existing for 10 minutes. They don't actually DO anything in em.
Thanx for this, I haven't seen this doc on WFRR before too bad this one isn't on the new dvd. Does anyone know if touchstone studios still owns all the costumes? I really to know what happened to Judge Doom's costume, especially the sword cane and those awesome spectacles. :) All i know is that the steamroller is at the backlot with alot of the other ACME Factory props such as the ACME Stay-Put Adhesive, but i really want to know what happened to Dooms costume and cane. Can anyone fill me in?
@Mysterious0Bob if you went in to Avatar expecting to see an amazing plot and storyline, then i guess you set yourself up for disappointment from the beginning. I'm pretty sure they'd be amazed with how much just 20 years did for special effects technology advancement.
To those who don't know, that one scene in the movie where Eddie Vailiant drives into the tunnel to head to Toon Town, that tunnel was also used in Back to the Future Part II (the scene where Marty McFly rides his hoverboard through the tunnel while Biff Tannen chases after him). Look carefully!
I KNEW they were related! I went to that tunnel a few days ago! And I remember awhile back when I was watching Who Framed Roger Rabbit, the tunnel scene, I just started listening to the background music and I could have SWORN it was the same music from Back to the Future!
Notable fact: This film mark the second time that Christopher Lloyd (who played Judge Doom) and Robert Zemeckis collaborated together. The first time they did was Back to the Future and will later do in BTTF part II and BTTF part III, but before BTTF, they also did "Go to the Head of the Class" which is from the TV series "Amazing Stories" before Roger Rabbit was made.
The filmmakers also tried Popeye (along with Bluto and Olive Oyl) to appear in the film, but Paramount Pictures refused to give the rights. Though both Paramount and Disney did made the live action film in 1980. Little did the copyright holders know that Roger Rabbit would go on to be a smash hit.
This is fantastic! Quite a rare find. My channels on YouTube & DailyMotion post stuff like this (the rare stuff is usually on DailyMotion). With your permission, I was wondering if I could post this on one of my channels?
I haven't seen this documentary since I was 8 years old, when "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" was premiered in big screens. Thank you very much for bringing back a lot of memories: I really love Roger Rabbit and watching back all those scenes and how they were made is great =3
Possibly Bob Hoskins' best performance. Acting to nothing is very complex, but he really makes you think he's talking to these animated characters.

¿porque no metieron este documental en los extras del DVD?, por lo menos esperemos que lo metan en una edición en Blu-Ray.

I wish this appeared on the Roger Rabbit DVD. Also Tom and Jerry were suppose to be in the film, but the filmmakers couldn't get permission from MGM.
tscastro114 2 years ago 4
Ironically, MGM co-owned Disney to form Disney-MGM Studios (now called Hollywood Studios) in Florida in the late 1980s.
