  • GOOD! The embargo is not going to be lifted until the Cuban Communist government change their policy.

  • If the embargo were to be lifted the totalitarian regime of Fidel Castro could run in the US, all types of investments and scams, stealing and scamming like always they have done everywhere and with everyone, they have done any business.

This is a predatory regime with a octogenarian dictator, a criminal and a thief and a terrorist regime condemned by the UN.

  • YOU HARDLY SEE IN THE AMERICANS NEWS CRITIZED OF OTHER COUNTRIES IN LATIN AMERICA LIKE THEY DO WITH CUBA, IN LATIN AMERICAN CHILDRENS DIE BY THOUSANDS,THAT DO NOT HAPPEN IN CUBA,IN LATIN AMERICAN THEY SUPPOSTLY HAVE FREEDOM SPEECH BUT NOTHING HAPPEN POORS ARE MORE POOR AND RICHS WELL THEY GO TO LAS VEGAS TO SPENDS THEIR MONEY

CUBAN HAVE THE CRUEL AMERICAN EMBARGO,MY QUESTION IS WHAT IS THEIR EXCUSE Mr.RAY WALSER,BECUSE I DONT SEE PROSPERITY IN LATIN AMERICA IN MORE 150 YEARS OF US INTERVENTION

  • WHY THE EMBARGO IS IN PLACE?SOUTH FLORIDA IS A BIG VACATION SPOT FOR AMERICANS, IF THE EMBARGO IS LIFTED MANY OF THIS AMERICAN WILL GO TO CUBA INSTEAD OF FLORIDA(a lot of the resorts spot in south florida are own by cubanamerican)

if the embargo is lifted the farming production of florida will be challenge by CUBAN product AND MORE THEN ANYTHING WILL BE PROVE THAT A SOCIALIST SOCIETY CAN BE GOOD FOR THE PEOPLE WITH FREE MEDICAL CARE,ETC,AMERICAN PROPAGANDA IN LATIN AMERICA WILL BE DAMAGED.

  • ignorant fool Cuba is not the only poor Latin American country

  • Cuba is highly educated, there is no reason for poverty. Other poor countries have a high percentage of people who can't read or write. Just the embargo alone makes Cuba one of the poorest societies in the world. Viva Capitalism! Fuck the Embargo that only benefits a few old-time Cuban Americans in the US

  • Cuba has just as much validity in demanding changes in US policy as we do of them

  • I hope the embargo is lifted as are all the other stupid things that the Miami Fascist Cuban junta and the mostly corrupt S.Florida Cuban politicians have shoved down Americas throat . Moderate Cubans long for the day we no longer see another Cuban in power in Miami as tired of seperatists fascists

  • It won't make a difference if the embargo is lifted except to prove that the embargo had nothing to do with the misery that the cuban citizens are suffering under the current regime. The rest of the world is trading and investing in Cuba but the citizens don't have access to these goods because they need US dollars to "purchase" access to US dollars are not given to the citizens.

  • When I was in Cuba lately, I seen a man being arrested for selling bananas on the street. Another man who was selling fish he'd caught was also arrested. The communist government their is insane. Any lift in the Embargo would only have goods going to those registered in the communist party there, the average citizens would get nothing. The embargo should not be lifted until the people are declared "FREE" by Castro.

  • Good for you man. One thing is that you work hard and another is the reality.

  • 20 billion barrels of oil in Cuba.

Deals have already been made with foreign oil-companies but not with USA (embargo).

I can imagine that the most used word is some US politicians minds is "fuck..."

But not all is lost! Maybe. Just maybe Cuba didn't give all nuclear weapons back to USSR...

  • Poor Americans. For more than 45 years have been helping both the cuban regime and exiles to survive without working.

These cubans are a bunch of welfare recipients. History and statistics support my claims.

  • God, you Republicans are so stubborn! Who gives a shit what Raul Castro does? Do you think he'll really reform Cuba that much? Don't get your hopes up. Why not help the Cuban people, esp. farmers and small businessmen, by opening up trade?? The embargo is obsolete! It's a relic of a dead era. It's no longer necessary. I don't know why you guys still support it. There's no expert reason to keep it in place. You guys must think we're all idiots.

  • Wow! a poster with a functional mind! My hope for this country is not lost!

  • The embargo is in place due to x pats and reformed and relocated businesses from Cuba. All are political lobbiest. No candidate wants to touch this political hot potato. Not with the insuing land and business suits. The Castro generation has not died out. Freakin law suits up the wazoo over land, buisinesses and copyrights. The end of the embargo will be a mealstrom of lawsuits!

  • WHy us has to deacide how the cubans should rule their own island? they have a better healt service

  • If the U.S. were to flood Cuba with foreign investment and privatization, then it wouldnt be their land anymore, it would be the land of the foreign investors. Castro has brought equality to Cuba, and we should do the same here.

  • What are you talking about? Cuba has been a part of the world market excluding the US since 1961. The US is the only economy that does not deal with Cuba including ALL of our allies. You should research Cuba`s advancement in medicine.

  • Look up: Hospital Clinico Quirurgico. That is the kind of service Cuban citizens gain. So how is that an "advancement"?

  • I agree with you. However well being is a premium. Health is something nobody should ever have to worry about regardless of economic stature!

  • I've read too many things from and about the Heritage Foundation to trust anything they publish. This is just the same old anti-communism stuff and yet everything you buy in the US these days is made in the People's Republic of China, a communist country. It doesn't make sense to me. What's Cuba gonna be a new Haiti?

  • iammyownreporter dot com

That website is packed with facts, surveys, and experiences from a an unbiased American journalist who has visited the Island several times recently.

After all how can we "free" US citizens learn about the Island if we are not allowed to go there ?

  • "In the first three or four months of the year, from January to March or April, the government actually arrested more than 400 youths for not having committed any crime whatsoever but simply for acting out."

  • HAVANA — For economist and former Cuban air force pilot Vladimiro Roca, bringing about democratic change in his country remains an uphill battle.

"Unfortunately, or disgracefully, since 2004 until 2005 things have changed for the worse," Roca told Vermont Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie, when the Vermonter visited Roca's home in Havana during a trade mission this month.

  • Trust the far left to be hypocritical. When the US had an embargo against the South African Regime for practicing Apartheid, a system that denied millions of its citizens political and economic freedom, they cheered. As for Cuba, which is under a communist regime, then the embargo is a failure.

  • It's not hypocritical. This embargo is proving to not be doing anything to stop the regime or spread of communism in Cuba. On the other hand, the embargo against South Africa was a key factor in their decision to end apartheid. It really hurt the regime. And we lifted that embargo after they got rid of apartheid.

  • Its not the right time dude. Change is coming internally but very slowly. I'm hearing more news of Cubans protesting the regime, wearing wristbands, protesting on the streets, drawing graffiti ect. To end the embargo now will be undoing all of those small changes.

  • There are no positive changes. Never has been and never were. Cuba used to accept us dollars. They don`t now. We only have a select bunch of companies that are able to supply Cuba with fresh meat. That only has to do with expiration dates and demand. Cuba`s agriculture is almost 100% organic. We have a demand for that. We need to trade and open travel. Our trade with China is a double standard. We either support communism or we don`t! Cuba is not special.

  • May I suggest you look up: Damas de Blanco, Yoani Sanchez, and Gorki Aguila. Those are, however small, positive changes. Opening trade now will only reinforce the regime, just like in China.

  • We are talking about Cuba. Not a superpower. No I don`t like communism. But do not deny my rights to travel whether the country I intend to visit is a shithole or a Mecca. I need to determine that, not anyone else.

  • The "Cuban x-pats" are actually lobbying, like I think I mentioned, to life the travel restrictions.

  • That is a good analogy but Cuba is a different animal. Cuba is responsible for stolen privately owned land, businesses and so on. We`re looking at decades of international law suits should their regime fail or be overthrown. It should! With the time passed, finding legitimate heirs is a problem. We need to supress lobbiest who are further extending this political disaster. We need to move on. CHINA is a double standard and is crippling our economy. Cuba does not have that power.

  • Personally, I think that embargoes don't work. They only hurt the people, not the leadership. I recently read that more Iraqi's died under Clinton's term than under Bush. If we dropped the embargo with Cuba and flooded the country with American money, and tourism and investment dollars we could have made Castro irrelevant a long time ago.

  • What horse shit...The good ol boys at the right wing Heretic Foundation still beating the drum for keeping shit the same...make a people suffer for 50 years,...just not quite enough yet?

  • firmitas68-you have way too much hostility. you need to chill. yes, i speak spanish. as a matter of fact my family is cuban and they live in cienfuegos. we have had many political discussions during my time in cuba. anything else?

  • The embargo should have been lifted years ago. Free market.

  • Cuba is not a threat to the US. Have you ever been to Cuba? Why don't you go there and then tell us how much of an enemy they are.

  • Do you speak Spanish. Have heard any recent speeches by Castro. Are you fucking naive?

  • how often do you take sum1 seriously if they talk shit...

  • Free the USA!

Cuba is free from unemployment, outsorcing, and job insecurity.

Cuba is free from health care insurance companies denying access while enriching their CEOs.

47 million Americans are so "free" of medical benefits that in fact they have zero coverage.

Cuba is free from predatory multinational corporations and their "democratically" elected CEOs,

the ones deciding when to outsource our jobs. Cuba is free from corporate controlled media pushing sex, violence and consumerism.

  • very well said, and very true. Cuba really is a more advanced country than the USA

  • Then why do thousands of Cubans attempt to flee that country to the United States every year on floating pieces of wood.

  • The majority come to the US for the same reason we have 11 million illegals from Mexico and other less developed countries, trying to improve their standard of living.

It is not the lack of "freedom" per se, how many of them float toward Democratic Haiti or stay in Democratic Mexico ?

  • I thought Cuba was an economic paradise from the way you described it.

  • I described the LACK of freedom in our USA for the average worker, and I want my country USA to be free TOO !

Cubans might be poorer but they all have some freedoms and guarantees that only the CEOs and rich people here have.

In any event who the heck do we think we are to tell others how to run their country ?

  • Haiti is almost in s bad a shape as Cuba, and Mexico is not much better.

  • Yes it is! It is economic freedom! The sole owner of property in Cuba is the Cuban Government. Moreover, there is severe repression of basic human rights in Cuba as anyone that disagrees with the government policies is arrested. There is no freedom in Cuba. I don't know if you are just ignorant or lying, but your position is repugnant.

  • Saudi Arabia is an US ally. Cuba is a sworn enemy of the US. Cuba has systematically fought US interest, as well as deprived its citizens of economic and political freedom. It is Cuba who has systematically sought confrontation with the US. Cubans brave Caribbean waters to come to the US, rather than US citizens--except left wing lunatics--go to Cuba. I love you leftist: you are against free trade, but in favor lifting the US embargo on a sworn enemy of the US.

  • yess

  • they are not sworn enemies of the US. it is the USA who are against cuba. our political leaders still have a grudge against communism, even when they are much better than the USA in many ways, though it has its downfalls as-well. but all countries do.

as for saudi arabia, think of this why is saudi arabia an ally of the USA when the attacked the world trade center. it is a known fact that most of the hijackers were from saudi arabia. but bush just looked the other way the unintelligent fascist

  • Moron: Listen to any recent speech given by Castro.

Trust me you are the unintelligent fascist.

  • Yeah, the Saudi's are our Allies all right, that's why they kicked out the US military. Everytime we "sold" them billions in defense equipment, there was a corresponding sharp rise in oil prices....Coincidence? I think not. We are the ONLY country to embargo Cuba - so when the commies finally do fall, the US will lose out completely on grabbing market share - basically we screwed ourselves by our own embargo

  • Whhy is there an embargo on Cuba and not on other countries who are not democratic, Saudi Arabia for example? Is the United States still fighting the Cold war and if so why don't they pick on someone their own size like Russia instead of bullying a third world country?
