People who bitch about "tricks" need to stop bitching. A drum solo like this is not only about dexterity and accuracy (although those are very key to the success of the drum solo). These kinds of solos are not just solos, they are performances. A performance needs to be compelling to watch. That's all there is to it: This man's showmanship is admirable and important.

For all yalls informaton the instrumentS (yes there is more than one there) he is playing are called Quints. and just because he is double stroking doesnt mean he int playing fast. he is playing quite fast and the stick tricks are because he is probably at a competition and judges look for that kind of stuff. This guys is very talented.

i play that instrument on drumline. its called a tenor. and you may think hes drumming fast but hes not its called a "double stroke roll" and thats where the stick hits the drum twice with one are stroke down. Its very simple :)

I could never hope to play that anytime soon, but i can double stroke roll, but this is that and so much more. BTW, im super jealous that u r in a drumline. My dream right there! ^_^
