  • Natural styles, or relaxed, as long as the hair is well cared for. I love my black features, but sometimes a relaxer is just easier to care for. Some people with so called natural hair are self-haters, too!

  • yess i love my hair verryy verry much!!

  • 3:08, gotta do it, so cute

  • GOOD HAIR IS HEALTHY HAIR. Please be considerate and do not bring racism in to the BLACK CULTURE. IT IS DISGRACEFUL.

  • I love the hair displayed at 2:49. How do you get that style? Twist outs? I just did the BC and I want my hair to look like that!!! Any idea what color that is?

  • 1:18 style is beautiful!!! Looking forward to trying it one day :)

  • how do u do dat thing on top of ur head at 3:44? also r tha curlz at tha very end of tha video twist outs?

  • does any1 kno how 2 do the style at 1:09 or wat its called

  • yeah i think all you have to do is put your hair in two strand twists and then wet your hair and sleep with it like that for a night or two and then undo them. you can spray some freezing spray or somthing so they can last longer but i think it might damage your hair so its your chioce, i accidentally found out how to do it lol

  • why cant i see the video

    someone want to chat To

  • Does anyone know how to achieve the look at 1:09

  • beautiful

  • Cantu hair products work real well for natural hair styles..im going back to natural and cantu doesn't dry it out..

  • 2:59 is fwine!

  • anyone know how to achieve the look Jill Scot had at 0:18

  • i love erykah badu's hair it so luscious and thick

  • I LUV MY NAPPY HAIR!!! W00T

  • i've got n afro! Its very nice! But i don't know what kind of hair producs 2 use! Help please!

  • Oh, that depends on your hair. You might need something diffrent than the next sistah. I know that I can't use what my friend uses on her hair on mine cause my hair will feel weird. Just experiment but avoid products with alchohol in it. Also, try shea butter. That is a start. ^^V

  • My hair is soft and curly! I use pink producs, i like the result but i want something better! And i wanna know how 2 flat my hair without the hot iron cumb! Help please!

  • My hair is soft and curly! I use the pink line but i need something better. I wanna know how 2 flat my hair without the scary hot cumb iron? And what producs 2 use 2 flat it? Thanks in advance!

  • Well I'm not black, I'm puertorican...and my hair is as thick and curly as the next girl. I used to get it relaxed but about 2 months ago i stopped and I'm loving it. It looks healthier now than it did then..

  • so you r black

  • I LOVE the styles in your video. what artist is that i have to get the single?

  • lupe fiasco daydreamin

  • i wear a natural fro but i keep it picked can't be to nappy u now

  • Jill Scott is so pretty and her hair is always beautiful! I get perms but I have rocked cute afros b4. It doesn't matter 2 me wut way u wear ur hair. Its just up 2 the person. But perms and natural hair are still beautiful

  • 4:17 through 4:27 are pretty hairstyles

  • I have my hair natural in an afro and sometimes I wear wraps but I want to do different styles with it and dont know what kinds of hair clips and such to use to hold them in place. Any suggestions?

  • I am not sure what your looking for but--just make sure whatever type of clips you use to style your hair--it doesnt pull

  • What inspired me to go natural was a more feminine version of the hairstyle in 3:24. It fit her perfectly. She wore that hawk like nobody's business, and the girl could dress. I've been hooked ever since. Thank you mystery muse.

Since, I've tried twists, braids, and am currently sporting a side parted fro. Too cute.

  • Hair styles are an accessory to your daily "outfit" so I say where them all well. Black hair is "versatile". Where it how you prefer. I am a natural nappy chic, for 3 yrs.

  • the girl at 2:55 is beautiful!! totally my type =)

  • Did you make that style on 1:50? That is really cute if you did let me know how.

  • Nice video, and I love these natural styles. Natural hair is the most beautiful.

  • ive always wanted to go natural. But the transition is the hardest part. On top of that i like wraps so much.

  • I agree with you. You cannot do wraps with long puffy ass hair and that's why i am scared to go natural.

  • yes u can. get a dominican doobie they only $7 they can put a doobie in any kind of hair! they work miracles

  • transitioning IS VERY HARD! not starting! but being in a transition! the ends get ruff to comb! u can comb ur natural hair! but the relaxed hair is HORRIBLE! just continue to get braids or sew ins!

  • Nice video but half the sisters in it are sporting (fabulous) wigs. I do appreciate the 'real' people in the natural hair forums & vids, though!

  • there weren't that many wigs. and even so, you do need transitioning styles too.

  • what the fuck? go die please.

  • crétin aliéné(e)

Va cramer ta tete si ça te plait!

    I let you translate this

  • my hair is natural. when i want it straight i use a flat iron. i have kinky soft hair and love it. more ways to play with it.

  • ??well your stupid.. because the videos was about there napss.. so they did settle for napps idiot.. u are at stupidity at the highest level :P

  • I wear my hair natural too but I need to learn how to style it more creatively.

  • lockedwithpatience just for the record all my friends r white!! all i said was do not lower urselves to the level of racists!! because there r some ppl who r saying that those who relax their hair want to be white: now that is racist!! i hope i made myself clear!!

  • it's your buisness if you want a perm, but i must say this. in my own experience i got hurt and stopped perming because of the constant flat ironing and upkeep and it was a strain on the back. plus i wanted to see the texture of my hair. i have found that for me having natural hair is actually easier to maintain.

  • ebonyprincess,

it IS about wanting to be something other than who you are. What is easy about a perm? It's often dry, you can't get it wet, and it looks extremely horrible when it is not pressed and curled. So instead of either locking it, picking it out, or even braiding it just once a week you would rather press nad curl every morning, or avoid getting it wet. Would you use BLEACHING CREAM? For some folks it's very hard having other than white colored skin.

    and please don't be racist!

  • honey i'm not racist u r the ones who r talking about wanting to be white only because one relaxes her hair!! there r white women who actuallly relax their hair u know!! anyway it all depends on the texture of one's hair!! i keep braids because i actually have a lot of studying to do so i can't keep my afro!! just trying to make u understand something that's all... i'm sick of hearing this wanting to be white thing! we r all equal and have the right to do wht we think is best for us!!

  • As a former relaxed woman, I understand what you're saying. I had the same outlook you have. I didn't get a perm or wear a perm because it made me look white...it was about tme. But I'll be a liar if I said that it didn't cross my mind during job interviews, if I didn't have a touch up, whether or not my employers were looking at my new growth and thinking "Damn, she needs a relaxer...what's that nappy shit on her head." IT wasn't about conforming to be white, for me...

  • It was about conforming to the standards of appearance in America that got me (as an adult). I'm still a little worried (and I've been natural for the better part of a year now)about my interview after I recieve my degree, whether I should sport braids or walk into it with my afro, or locs, because of how Americans view black women's hair. Some look at our afros and feel like we're trying to rebel...then compare us to Panters and shit. The more vids I watch like this makes me lean...

  • more toward showing up at my future job interview with my crown of glory adorning my head. I'll take care of the particulars later. If I'm not hired and I see it's because my hair is nappy, I'll sue the company. Period.

  • I hear you girl, I had problems (not with interviews, but after being on a job) and I got slack from black people. I am so sick and tired of the self-hatred that has penetrated people's psyche

  • me too baby! my co-worker told me "why would you wanna do that? you aint got no good hair... you ain't mixed!" I was very offended!

  • I hear you! good hair is hair that grows from out of your scalp!!

  • I hear you.

But fortunately for me, no one I know gave me flack for going natural. I received compliments from every family member with the exception of one. I receive compliments from many black women, which surprised me, b/c I was expecting mockery.

Ironically, I receive compliments from whites as well. A white man told me that I looked "authentically true to my heritage." Interesting thing to say.

But I didn't do it for the compliments - it was time to accept what God gave me.

  • Well I am in college. My hair was shoulder length and permed. I kept my hair in braids to "save time" but I finally cut out the perm and I LOVE my hair natural. I don't have to get up every morning to flat iron it and trust I don't miss the burning hair smell. You can do what you want to do with your hair but ANYONE can look good with their natural hair if they know how take care of it.

  • some ideas how to take care of it?

  • LOTS AND LOTS of conditioning.

  • You need to calm the hell down. I was not even referring to you when I mentioned the ignorance. I was talking about those dumb ass people. Btw, I don't speak Spanish lol... Try coming at me with Deutch oder... la francaise.

  • ok sorry a misunderstanding!! btw that was italian... not spanish!! lol:D my french is not god at all... i speak better spanish

  • LOL!!! I always have a problem with those two ugh!

  • well that's you honey!! obviuosly we have different ways of seeing things!! i don't have permed hair!! i keep braids and not because i want to be white but because it makes life easier for me!! All i said was stop turning this into a racial issue... we r talking hair here!!

  • I never said you wanted to be white. White women are not the only ones with straight hair. I hate it when we are automatically accused of wanting to be white if we straighten our hair... Like we as HUMAN BEINGS are not even allowed to straighten our hair simply because we are the most unique women on the planet. the level of ignorance in this world is over the top!

  • i wasn't referng to you!! there are ppl who wrote that it's because they want to be white... anyway im pretty much aware of the fact that not only white ppl hav staight hair and also that some white women do straigten their hair!!

  • wow you sound really ignorant! having a perm is about not embracing your natural hair texture we just call it like we see it>

  • ma x favore basta cn qst discorsi di merda!! u r ignotant because u didn't get what i meant!! u see we r all different.. different individuals, different societies, different lifestyles therefore different needs now all i said was im not able to take care of my afro so i keep braids!! . and please as an intelligent individual be at least civil! u r more ignorant if u don't know that some white women do perm their hair.. so stop this racism discussion coz it's a bit boring!im proud of who i am!!

  • What the fuck are you taking about. Of course is easy to manage kinky natural hair. The reason why some black people can't handle kinky their kinky hair or their children's kinky hair is because they don't put conditioner or a spray when it fucking dry. You can't not colm kinky hair when it dry. It's going to be hard to colm, and the hair is going to break which causes hair damage.

  • Can u say DENIAL?

  • Oh please. Give me a fucking break. Its as easy as you make it. I've been natural all my life, my hair is as kinky as the next persons and I am full on black. Everyone looks good with natural hair bcs there are more natural hairstyles than one. Ppl might not want to be white but they sure as hell are not proud of their hair!

  • well i am not tryn to speak for everyone..but i believe hair is a part of self-esteem..I love my self-hair and all and i am proud of it..very proud..My hair is very kinky and not very easy to comb wet or dry but i love it..it a part of me..and i agree there might be some people out there that dont want to be white but are not proud of there hair..im not one of those ppl.i love this kinky nappy hair-its all mine.I am proud of Every part of me..i cant nor will i change that..

  • It is so refreshing to see black women loving their hair! Our natural hair is so amazing and i am so happy i made the decision to go natural! Beautiful video and i can't wait til my hair gets long enought to rock some of these styles!

  • what song is this?

  • Daydream by Lupe Fiasco and Jill Scott

  • thank GOD!

I didn't think there were anymore Sistaz that wore their hair natural.

This is a sight for sore eyes. Waaay too many sistaz are trying to look like something they aren't. Be proud of who you are.

There are few thingz more attractive about a Sista than seeing that she knows her roots, and takes pride in who she is. No sense in an African trying to represent the European idea of beauty.

    I hope this catches on!

  • Gorgeous!

  • This is how black women should look, natural and beautiful!

  • Why do so many black queens feel the need to strighten their hair and try to look white. I love your true natural African look.

  • @Kenyanafro only speaking for myself but i've been natural for a year & a straighten my hair to make it look natural because I don't know what kinds of styles to put my hair in. Natural hair care products can run high so maybe that's why it's easier for some to "try & look white"

  • 4:20! beautiful

  • 1:08 is cute, but then again, all are nice styles!

  • I've been natural for all of my life so far and I am so happy that I didn't put any chemicals in my hair ! = D

  • good for you!!! if I ever have a child...I'ma go out my way to make sure she love her hair the way it is...and NO perms!! I decided to stop...Black hair is beautiful..we fail to realize that..IT FULL, ITS THICK,ITS LOVELY, and its strong lol (it has to be wid all the crap we do to it LOL)

  • love as in music and style or attracted to? I have never heard anyone say they were but thats cool either way. He's definetly a deep brotha but he's someone I would love to kick it with as homies.

  • 3:28; 3:38; and 3:48 are really amazing

  • What song is this?

  • Daydream by Lupe Fiasco featuring Jill Scott

  • i went natural without cutting it off...my hair is long,i just transitioned from realaxers and weaves TO braids and lots of strenthning and conditioning products!...it took me 3 yrs though, its now going on 5 yrs without a relaxer(just a "press out" once a year)

  • tight work might i say. i really enjoyed this video.

  • tight work might i say. i really enjoyed this video.

  • 2:14 is amazing!! This is the hairstyle that I am going to do for myself! But what exactly is it called? They're just twists, right?

  • how in love am i with this video....this is awesome!!!

  • very beautiful, but it's not my style wish i could be more bold to go natural

  • I love seeing all the styles accomplished with natural hair that has no chemicals. Black hair is freaking cool!

  • natural manily means without tha use of chemicals..braids nd weaves can b seena s natural because theres no chemicals

  • Wow! How thoughtful and I know the folks in the video want to Thank You! Good Job!

  • A lot of these were either extensions or flat out wigs (particularly in the beginning of the video). What constitutes "natural" hair? Does that include a wig, braids, or extensions as long as long as it "looks" curly or kinky? And if so, why do we call it "natural"? To each their own, but I don't think there's anything "natural" about fake hair. :0l

  • I think the key is that the vid is called natural hair "styles." Maybe the point is that whether you are simulating natural hair or actually have it, it makes a statement that natural hair is beautiful. Before I transitioned and went natural I did the same thing. The fact that my hair was actually relaxed at the time didn't take away from my promotion and admiration of natural hair.

  • i didnt see any weaves or hair extensions, i think only erykah badus afros were wigs, but the rest looked real to mee

  • i really like the styles at 3;45 and 3;50

  • Erykah badu WEARS A WIG

  • The point is that she wears a curly wig and not a straight wig. This means she represents and promotes the beauty of black hair. If she wore a straight wig-this would not be true.

  • I'm french and black and i'm so proud to see more black people in France wants to go back to natural.

    love these hair styles

  • I think the girl at 4:18 is my sister Shavon. If not she looks just like her. creepy! where did you get the pic.

  • Just pic from the net

  • i liked 1:14 , 4:25 best wuns whur 0:49 and 0:28 mine hair is just thick afro doe not curly :) xx good video doe

  • i liked 2:44...the short natural styles are really cute :)

  • thanks

  • i used to have long relaxed hair until recently wen i juss got fed up with it & had to cut. Everyone was dissapointed and thot i had made a mistake. I went bald and luved it. My hair has grown back but its curly. it looks like its bn chemicalised. I want to keep it natural without it looking like iv put sum chemical on it. Wat can i use to help keep it real natural and Afro.

  • my hair is relaxed and really long and thick, everyone always compliments me on it and ask if i'm mixed, but secretly I want to cut it all off and go natural, but I'm afraid people are gonna make me feel like a made a mistake, other black girls always tell me they wish their hair was like mine but I wish my hair was like the girls who had the courage to go natural, some day i might have the courage to go natural, but cudos for u

  • baby gurl, i've learned that people are gonna talk about you no mattter what your hair looks like. so be what you want to be.

"Courage is not the abscence of fear but the realization that there is something greater."

    Translation- DO YOU!!

  • well it does take sum guts, it took me a good long year to actually make ma way to d barbers & as soon as i did i waz like FINALLY d new journey begins & Wen i first saw maself in d mirror i didn av any regrets at all i knew dis was wat i wanted & nw gues wat d same pple whu used to tell me nt to cut ma hair wish to ave d courage like i did. its not curly nymore its proper kinky & am still luving it. i ope u'll eventually find it in yoself to do wat u WANT.

  • I know what you mean.

  • lol im the same way my hair is long and relaxed but ive been dying to go natural since i was 13 years old... Its tough but its about what you want... I did everything to go back natural but I decided to do the big chop on my 21 birthday... Just do what makes you happy

  • You will become a better person if you do what you really want to do. If that means cutting off the hair you don't want to grow back the hair that you DO want, then so be it.

  • That was a beautiful video. What's the name of that song?

  • I believe its Lupe Fiasco and Jill Scott called Daydream, they have a live performance of this song on youtube. I like the video too! (figured i would comment on the video too :)

  • ErykaH Badus was the best!

  • Enjoyed the video. Very inspiring on different hair styles to try.

  • GREAT video!! Natural hair is so beautiful...Im glad I made the trasition :)

  • Beautifully done!

  • all these styles are so beautiful, I love miss Badu's fro!!!

  • Me too

  • All of these women had such beautiful hair. I just wish black women were represented in this type of light more often :-(

  • Nice pic. Keep up the good work:)

  • thanks :-)

  • Such a great video -- love the music!!
