  • Superb performance

  • he is good!!

  • brutalitarian

  • Awesome job love the passion!

  • like a boss

  • This piece gives me a happy

  • is dancing

  • That's amazing. I don't know the piece well enough to detect wrong notes in your performance, but don't sacrifice accuracy for speed.

  • haha. he looks like he's having so much fun. great piece. great performance.

  • I love how Katny is able to manipulate it at will, to any interpretation he likes. Quite difficult to do (in my opinion) with a piece like this. When I'm learning this piece I use this video as a reference, hahaha

  • I like it, very well done, it seems a difficult piece, Where I can get this sheet music? Thank you, I would like to play it as well as you.

  • Can anyone tell me how I can get the sheet music for that?! O:

That is such an amazing piece. I would love to play it for my A-level work.

  • @DizzyIzzieDave Buy it.

  • very good. you should learn stevens grip. you know you want to...

  • @oxysean

haha you seriously think this 3rd place winner playing sixteenths at 140 doesnt know stevens grip?

    haha.

burton has better control, this is a loud and damanding piece. its my solo as of now and im playing it stevens. lots of octave sets and the 32nd roll in the break is easier to ripple roll. just preferences for this piece, they all are different

  • @hhaleybluee I agree with what you're saying, but i feel the need to point out that Sammut plays Stevens

  • @oxysean I would be willing to bet that he knows stevens better than you do.

  • burton and traditional are very different.

  • not a bad performance overall. I think it is a little too fast at times, maybe its a bad recording, but some of the notes are lost at the parts that were too fast. Also the 1 mallet seems a bit quiet at times, perhaps this is due to Burton grip. When I played this piece, I played it Stevens but that's me.

I'll never forget when I first heard this piece in a performance by She-e Wu for a master class. Its an awesome piece.

  • this is the best version of this I have ever heard or can find. Amazing job.

  • the piece is inspired by a tango, but the tempo he is going is the tempo Sammut wanted.

  • wayyyy to fast, its a tango, people are meant to dance to a tango, other wise good.

  • no, its meant to show off badass marimba skills, the audience is all sitting in chairs, not dancing

  • @john3047X

bahaha my favorite reply in a long time.

  • @Phantom1722

its not a tango just because it has tango in the name. its a classical piece, you dont tango to a marimba solo transposed from piazzolla. eric sammut transposed it to make a solo, not a dance beat. notice how he got 3RD PLACE as well. and its written with sixteenths to suggested 120. not too fast, btw.

  • @Phantom1722 this is not a Tango, is a improvisation by Sammut on one of the themes in Piazzolla´s piece. The Rythms are more closer to latin and african music but not tango at all.

  • Inspirational.

  • you just changed my life!

  • chodzę z nim do szkoły

  • dude... amazing

  • Gratulacje!!!

  • no i wymiótł, ale wiadomo, Polak ;] pozdro

  • good job, congratulations...

  • świetnie, Arek ;*

    pozdrawiam! ;)
