  • i got the hks it worked hella great so far

  • my supra had the same problem. i replaced the radiator and it stopped. however i am hearing a little bit of rattle sound when i rev up at low rpm

  • I just bought a mk3,doesnt seem to be overheating or losing coolant only done 88000 km's seems to be ok but now Im worried :(

  • If it's not losing any coolant, you have no need to worry. Is it a turbo? Turbo MK3's (7MGTE) are the engines that tend to blow headgaskets- if it's a naturally asperated (7MGE), you'll probably be okay. :)

Otherwise, just save up the money and get a headgasket job done- get the metal head gasket, and have the shop tighten the bolts about 5-10lbs higher then spec.

  • why i tourqed my head down to 75 lbs and put on a HKS MHG on mine. it was worth it. :D

  • Hells yeah! :D

    What year is yours?

  • 91 :) and i "love" working on it :) replacing the high pressure power steering hose i have to drop the whole rack and lift engine. this will be fun!

  • I finally got my head shaved and back, but i gotta get all my belts replaced and all the crap we broke trying to get everything out.

  • yes sir, very fun when they work right but bhg is its downfall

  • Very true- but if you replace that head gasket and torque it down right, it's very reliable, and still fun. :D

  • How many miles are on your car?

  • Just shy of 250,000.

  • The one that deters me from buying a MK3 Supra. A blown head gasket of course! Are you sure that is the problem?

  • Almost 100%- Not much else causes a problem like this. I'll be taking it up to a friend's place to do a compression test later this week.

I bought my MK3 fully expecting to do a head gasket job on it- I only paid $1,700 for the car originally, and even with all the labor that this head gasket is going to need, in my opinion, it's still well worth it. Try driving an MK3 in good condition some time, and you'll know what I mean. :)

  • if u ever run into a mk3 supra that has overheating problems in some caes u can have excess coolant loss from another problem. but the second coolant touches those rod bearings u got rod knock my friend.
