  • Thank you for a very informative video. I have terribly hooded eyes and I am definitely going to try this..!!

  • You are beautiful and extremely talented! I will be trying this look :-)

  • that look might look ok on a dark skinned person for night time but I would never wear it

  • Please do an updated version of this tutorial using someone with hooded eyes. Those of us who have them would greatly appreciate it :)

  • i agree with a few of the others, i think this would have been better if you applied this look on someone who actually had hooded eyes so we could see what it actually looks like at the end.

  • @lizrocks23 Thanks for ur two cents even though no one was talking to you. Obviously I was clicked on this video thinking that she would at least do makeup on someone with hooded eyelids and had I know she wasn't I wouldn't have clicked on it! Im not even subscribed to her. This video is pointless for people with hooded eyelids and you would know if u had them!

  • u don't have hooded eyes.... so this is stupid

  • @MegaTrix88

She doesnt. This is a video series that demonstrates looks for all types of eyes so obviously she isnt going to have each eye type. Its to help out people who do have hooded eyes. If you dont like it dont watch it.

  • This video made me realize that I have hooded eyes, ahh! I always thought it was weird you could never see shadow on my lid!

  • is a hooded lid a bad thing?

  • Can't you show how to do it on a person with hooded eyes? Please. :)

  • Love your vids!!

  • luv u marlena..

  • this is so pretty for any eye shape!

  • This would be a much better tutorial using someone with hooded lids! Still a great tutorial as always but those of us with hooded lids would appreciate it :)

  • Would you ever consider doing a makeup tutorial on alternative beauty?

  • I'm only 14 and I have terrible hooded eyes. When I'm looking straight the skin almost touches my upper lashline. I hate it so much. :(

  • I am so happy that you did this!!!! Thank you gorgeous! Much luv!

  • Can You Please Do A Tutorial For Sad Eyes? :) I Think That's What They're Called lol I Can't Seem To Find Much Tutorials For My Eye Shape. :/

  • Round eyes

  • Im going to go try this, just found out that hooded eyes are what I have too. Thank you MakeupGeekTV.

  • thumbs up if she should do an updated video for hooded eyes

  • HA!! The end was great and the make-up you did was simply applied. Great job!

  • Omg what are the chances that this is the first video I clicked into, and that's the ONE Kat Von D palette I own hahah

  • You're a beautiful girl, but you don't really have hooded eyes. For those who really have hooded eyes, try watching Asian make-up channels.. If you have hooded eyes all of what is shown in this vid, would look like eyeliner and some eyeshadow. You wouldnt see anything, except for when your eyes are closed. We hooded eyed people really have limited eyespace.

  • I have really hooded eyes so I'm gla u did this tutorial

  • iits kool how an eye can change with makeup & stuff. -__-

  • Oh man I have hooded eyes too and 2 make things difficult 4 me, my brows are low(which they arent even arched, just a slight curve) so theres barely anything 4 me to put on : /

  • thankkkk yooooouuuu :D

  • I was born with hooded eyes..:/

  • Love the look!

Love that you used KVD cosmetics!

Love love love love! my mom has hooded eyes & i always do her makeup & i went with my gut feeling & freely did it & i cant believe how similar & correct i was for hooded eyes :3

  • @savviiful do you know theres hundreds of videos on that look on youtube

  • you sound like rukia from bleach

  • First off I just want to say that I've been watching your video's for a couple years now and I absolutely love what you do. What I want to know is if you can you do another Makeup Tutorial for Hooded Eyes...But use a person with hooded eyelids? It would be great if you could do a couple of looks on your model (work, day, night, celebrity, etc...) THANKS!

  • sometimes I dont understand. Putting light on the ridiculously tiny amount of lid exposed and dark on top faded up and out, emphasizes the tiny bit of lid showing, wich looks ridiculous, because the contrast makes it looks tiny compared to the browbone now dark. Also, westerners with hooded eyes often have deep set eyes, and putting too much dark on the browbone of a deep set, hooded eye looks... strange. Its would look even worse if the eye was small, deep set AND hooded.

  • you dont have hooded eyes how can you relate to it

i have hooded eyes and i cant wear makeup because of it i try put on liquid eye liner and it doesnt work it comes off on the hood and i have a black mark :L

  • @thekaylabugg Just raise your eyebrows and wait for the liner to dry first. I used to do that all the time.

  • @thekaylabugg I had this problem too, but then found one that didn't, you just need to find a good brand :-)

  • I like this and will be trying it soon....I have had my colors reversed for sure will be trying

  • I like this and will be trying it soon....

  • At least she has done a tutorial on this...nobody else has.

  • How are you supposed to show me how to handle my hooded eye when you don't have one!? Ugh! That's like showing me how to apply makeup for women of color when you have fair skin. You can inspire or explain, but not demonstrate and that's the point of a tutorial!

  • Comment removed

  • You're beautiful & your tutorial is great!!

  • omg can i see a person who actually has hooded eyes??????

  • fuck u

  • This lady cannot relate to hooded eyes, so why is she making a video like she knows what she's talking about? I have hooded eyes and this look does not look good on my eyelid type. I'm sure she's great at doing looks for her eyelid type, but this does not work for us hoodie eyes.

  • I have hooded lids and I can say with absolute certainty that I could not do this look.

  • Hey everyone, it would mean a lot to us if you watched our Pretty Little Liars inspired makeup tutorial since we are new to youtube. Thanks! Please like our video if you find it helpful!

  • I'm 16 and I already have hooded eyes, it sucks and it's hard to make my eyes look right. The shadow(and/or eyeliner) over powers my eyes and makes them look smaller. I have a feeling that doing it this way would give me the same result. :-/

  • @TheLauraknows i know this will probably be marked with spam... but i posted a video for small eyes a few days ago and i have hooded eyes :) maybe you could check it out!

  • any tips on preventing hooded eyes? my mom got hooded eyes with age and i dont want that to be me. lol =^)

  • I'm 15 and have hooded eyes but it's not a problem because I look way better without it (I use makeup for pictures). I just can't wear eyeliner because it never shows up or gets smudged by the "hood". LOL

I really love this tutorial btw.

  • this actually really did help me. thank you so much. i can't remember if i've already commented on this or not. i like this method because it sort of makes my eyes look like they have more width. almost like cat eyes. and i finally get how to do that "outer v" thing. thanks again

  • your awesome

  • is it just me or do her makeup looks all look too alike? the eyes. its all basically the same style, nothing too different just colors usually...

  • Wow you have pretty eyes! People are so mean gosh.

  • @2011suu Stop being mean to people on the internet just because you can't get the courage to do that in real life.

  • @2011suu She's actually lost a lot of weight - too bad you can't lose your crappy personality.

  • @XWarumono you mother fucker shut your mouth im not taking to you put my dog shit in your mouth

  • @2011suu thank you for that. Proved my point beautifully.

  • i just watched a video where she said to do darkest colour next to the eyelashes.. i totally disagreed. i'm happy to see that people can see how to do it right. thanks so much! :)

  • @vinestar21 duh, the darkest color is EYELINER....

  • @watchgoose obviously it wasnt refrence to eyeliner if it had been i wouldnt have made that comment. and i wasnt talking about makeupgeek. i was talking about a different channel where the girl didnt even use eyeliner. so, maybe before you try to make somebody feel dumb you should get all the information. in the end youre the only one who look stupid.

  • @vinestar21 you are just rude, no manners. it shows. Darkest color, eyeliiner, goes next to lashes no matter what..

  • @watchgoose it doesnt ALWAYS go next to the eyelashes. you dont HAVE to have eyeliner with every makeup look. fyi eyeliner isnt always the darkest.. it comes in more than one shade.. not just black. and not everyone uses it on the lash line.. some use it in the crease. however, in the case that i was referring to there was NO eyeliner in the look this girl was doing. i wasnt disapproving of makeupgeek i was just glad to see some good advice rather than the first video from a DIFFERENT channel.

  • @vinestar21 Eyeliner does go next to the eyelashes, hence the name eyeliner - it LINES the eyes. Eyeliner does not go anywhere else, it would look out of place. And I never said it had to be black. Black looks very stark on anyone.

  • @watchgoose LOL.. if you stepped out of your little box for two seconds you'd see that people DO use it on different areas of the eyes. youre trying to school me on eyeliner. lets break it down. lets see.. eye.. ooh, thats pretty broad that means it can go on the eye. i'm pretty sure i'm not the only one who thinks theres more to the eye than just the lash line! why dont you youtube "cutcrease" there you'll learn that theres more places than just the lash line for EYEliner.

  • @vinestar21 been around a bit longer than you have, honey chile. It was called "liner" for a REASON. Placed anywhere else, it is called SHADOW. I think you just like to argue.

  • @watchgoose doesnt matter how long you've been around. obviously i'm more educated. i'll leave it at that.

  • why nobody is making a turotiral for hooded eyes on somebody who HAS hooded eyes???

  • @Regenbogenbruecke A chinese girl who had hoodie eyes made one and it worked for me. =3

  • @EvilxXxNightmare Did this chinese girl load a video up at youtube? And if yes, could you please send me the link for it or post it here? Thanks! :-)

  • @Regenbogenbruecke Lol I'll look for it again, through all the mess of avs I havesaced, and I will send it to you as soon as I can. =D

  • @Regenbogenbruecke Lol! Seriously! This is a problem.

  • I am 15 and have majorly hooded eyes but I don't think it is a bad thing, it makes you look unique:)

  • I'm thinking of starting a makeup channel because I have hooded eyes and there arent enough looks out there with adaptations for them

  • @PassionatePhalanges well then do it!!! I have hooded eyes that annoy me sometimes, so I'll be your first subbie!!!

  • @Peytonology007 then l'll be the second one!:D

  • @PassionatePhalanges

    PLEASE DO!

  • @PassionatePhalanges You have almost 60 likes. I think that's enough for a channel!

  • @PassionatePhalanges Please do !!!! =)

  • @PassionatePhalanges please do. i have hooded eyes and i wanna see tutorials for makeup on em.

  • @PassionatePhalanges yeah please do (like other fellow gals said) my eyes are too like that :(

  • @PassionatePhalanges Very good idea

  • @PassionatePhalanges please do

  • my eyes are compleeeetely hooded over. i have no lid to put light eyeshadow on to "make it more noticable" ...dont think i wanna bring attention to that /: and hooded lids dont need attention in general because most of the time a lot of the lid isnt visible in the first place.

by the way i am only seventeen and i love art especially artsy makeup so it kinda sucks to have every eye makeup look like CRAP on my eyes :(

  • I like most of your videos but I can't see myself using this technique. I have small almond shaped eyes with puffy hoodiness over the top about the same level as the eye itself. This makes me look similar to an asian looking eye. Rather than hollowing out the eye however, I would like a make up technique which somehow embraces my hoodiness, treating it like a monolid, to bring out the beauty of my natural eye shape, rather than trying to twist it into something it's not.

  • OMG that makes perfect sense girl! I am 27 and have had hooded eyes for as long as i can remember and I have never understood it! I cant believe you made a whole video for us with this you are sooo sweet!!!!

  • i like this look

  • this helped me. SO MUCH. it has completley changed the way my eyes look, and i thank you for that. and thanks for the suggestion regarding the dome shaped brush, it really helped me. i don't know why all of these people are so upset, this helped me A LOT.

  • OMG YOUR FACE HAS GOTTEN SO MUCH SLIMMER SINCE THIS VIDEO! Wow!

  • No offense, but a tutorial on hooded eyes done on someone without hooded eyes is useless. Also, your technique will end up in a smudged hot mess. You'd know that if you had hooded eyes. But you don't.

  • FOR HOODED EYES I THINK IT WOULD LOOK GOOD JUST TO PUT ONE ALLOVER THE EYE SHADOW AND A HIGHTLIGHT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE LID ...

  • doesnt work

  • I look like I get punched in the eye when I wear any shadow darker than a med-brown

  • I feel like hooded lids call more attention to the color of someone's eyes.[: so everyone who says they hate theirs, start looking at things as half full not half empty, gee.

  • u dont even have hooded eyes....

  • u dont even have hooded eyes....

  • You're so pretty and have ideal facial features!....so I was going to say "ughh this is all easy for you to say"......but you come across lovely and professional so I'm just gon say thanks for your tutorials....they're relaxing to watch, even if I'm rubbish at applying your techniques to my unfortunate face... lol.

  • i dont think people realize how annoying it is to have hooded eyes(at least to me)... im 15 and born with it, and i love artistic makeup, but i cant wear it unless i lift my eyebrows:( this makeup makes me look old and also its kinda annoying that you cant wear whatever makeup you like:) please do another tutorial for hooded eyes marlena! this dosent work! xxx

  • i'm 14 ahd i have hooded eyes. fml

  • I have always had bedroom eyes, and now that I am 52 they have become hooded. I am also a woman of color and you are the only one giving advise for all skin tones. I just wanted to thank you for that. and I hope you do more colors for hooded eyes, with wings. I love your adivse. Be well.

  • I have hooded eyes and I like them. I know how to make them look like they have dimension if that makes sense but this us pretty cool :).

  • Have u ever thought of using models...that actually have hooded eyes, small eyes etc?? It would be more helpful, you're awesome regardless :)

  • I have hooded eyes too, I'm 16 :( I only use dark make-up on the outer parts of my eyes cause it makes my eyes look a lot less hooded ^^

  • i have hooded eyes ahh im 12 and i have it, i hate it =[

  • I have "hooded" eyes, I think.... and almost 80 percent of people do! I have been told how awesome my bedroom eyes are! People talk about it like it is a negative thing (as does the woman in this vid) Some people are saying some sad stuff like wanting to hide! You look good! Don't fall for that sh^+

  • I agree as well can you do it on someone with hodded eyes so we can see how it actually look like, but as for dark color, hooded eyes do not look well with them....

  • I have hooded eyes I was born with it and I dont like the dark cause the color makes me look like I have a black eye so PLEASE PLEASE can u do one with brighter colorers thank you

  • Marlina, this look is absolutely gorgeous for you, but the truth is.. the darker colros actually make my hood stand out more. Maybe it's my application? I absolutely love your videos, but if you ever doa remake of this video, could you do it on someone who actually has hooded eyes, please? ♥

  • lol you're not dorky :) this is a great tutorial, thank you!! (:

  • This make up is great for hooded eyes- worked very well on me !

  • I don't know what I did wrong but this made me look like a witch.

  • ...she doesn't even HAVE hooded eyes.

  • You should of done this on someone with hooded eyes. Because i am 17 born with hooded eyes and i don;t think that this tutorial would really work. sorry to say i really love the look as a whole though.

  • would like look work with blacks and grays?

  • Your hair is really nice :)

  • my eyes are hooded beacuse there really big and i dont like it cuz u cant see my eyeshadow

  • my eyes are hooded beacuse there really big

  • I have really bad hooded eyes, and when I put on liquid eyeliner really thin, it takes up all my my eyelid that you can see D: It sucks so much, is there any way to get rid of the hood or something?

  • My eyes are beautiful but thier hooded :(

and im 14 so it sucks i wonder what it will look like when im 50 :O :(

and yeah i really want to see how to put on liquid eyeliner cuz mine is invisible and my eyeshadow just ceases even with the best primer. but yeah its what makes me me so yeah

  • @HeheJeeveeLol i have hooded eyes too and my eyeshadow creases all the time too! :( i'm searching for a primer that would solve this issue :(

  • mine are naturally hooded and man, i'm 15!

  • @brinaboner01 Same here, it sucks!

  • I have one hooded eye :/ Luckily, it's not too noticable...only if I point it out or if someone's doing my makeup.

  • Haha I need you as a sister or something. I have hooded eyes and I'm tomboy and epicly fail at doing my make up! When my mom tries she ends up putting my make up in dark colors up to my eyebrows and you can't even tell my eye colorXD Thanks for the vid

  • what are hooded eyes??

  • @sunnysunshine223 Hooded eyes are like this: someone's eyes are open [not wide open, just normal] and looking straight at you [not up or down], and you can't see their actual eyelids. It's mostly or completely hidden by the skin/hood under the eyebrow. You also can't really see the crease/socket. My explanation is pretty awkward, but I know what hooded eyes are because my mom has completely hooded eyes.

  • @Michelleyboo18 ohh okay thx

  • Comment removed

  • this video helped a ton!

i love all of your videos, thankyou so much!

    (:

    and yourr super pretty!

  • My eyes are extremely hooded. I haven't seen worse than my so far. My lashes almost touch my eyebrow. :(

  • @AlwaysWishing1983 same here :/

  • @AlwaysWishing1983 my eyelashes DO touch my eyebrow!

  • @2paranoid2think mine do too

  • I have hooded eyes and I am 26. I appreciate the effort & thought but, you should be putting your method to the test by actually using someone with hooded eyes. I completely disagree with the methods that you are using, they will make hooded eyes look worse. I'd love to be proven wrong........

  • @Katiebeaable Have you even tried her look yet?

  • @Katiebeaable I totally agree with you. All she did was give herself a hooded eye look using makeup, that doesn't help real hooded eyes at all.

  • @Katiebeaable I totally agree with you.

  • @Katiebeaable Dark colour recedes away. Her technique is the correct one. Check out gossmakeupartist, he follows the same formula and he is amazing.

  • @Katiebeaable You are totally right!I have hooded eyes too,and thats the only makeup style, that doesnt flatter hooded eyes at all!

  • @Katiebeaable I have hooded eyes too and your right, she should be doing this on some with a hooded eye to show how the method works, I think it's just hard to imagine because she doesn't have hooded eyes, but doing this method works for me, because the lighter color on the lid makes it stand out more and the darker color on the hood pushes it back and makes it less noticeable...Have you tried it? It's kind of hard to do...

  • @Katiebeaable i have hooded eyes as well, and have been applying my makeup in this way for a long time - and it works just fine. I agree she should have used a model with hooded eyes to illustrate the effect better, but every technique i've researched basically says the same thing she was showing us here. and personally i think its great.

  • @Katiebeaable

it depends, i have eyes that are little bit hooded and it works good for me, maybe if your eyes are really hooded you should use light neutral colors that are matte and not to use really dark colors at all.

  • @Katiebeaable i totally agree with you

  • @Katiebeaable I was looking at another tutorial on someone else's channel, and she made the suggestion that we create a gradient from dark to light moving toward the brow. I however personally find that putting the lighter color on my lid and the darker color on my hood opens my eyes up a lot. I don't know if perhaps it's the color choice that you don't like, but I'll post a picture of one of my looks to let you see what I mean.

  • YES

I've been looking for years on tips for my hooded eyes that aren't so blah. I LOVE how you add a little color and sparkle and not just boring brown. This is the best instruction vid I've ever found. Now finally I can love my eyes for how they are!!!!!

  • Ok. I have a problem. Is it me or do all make-up videos run by the same laws: whiter color on the lid, something darker above the eyelid, little mascara, some black eyepencil and voila! You're done. I just don't get it. Why do people need such specific info about this; it's so simple. Anyways, I don't use make-up anymore. Used to.

  • Nice videos, but I think when you're doing makeup for small eyes, hooded eyes, etc. you should find a friend with those features to do makeup on. Other than that, great job

  • haha i love the end of this video!! thanks for including the bloopers :-)

  • you need to fix your eyebrows. you have a strange shape.

  • i hate my hooded eyes but love your video!!! haha... i'll do it tomorrow ..

    THANK U !!!

    xD

  • Lol. "Glitta' Glitta'" :)

  • I Just Got The Urban Decay Naked Pallette. I Haven't Used It Yet. I'm 16 & I Hate My Eyes. I Was Born With Hooded Lids & Everyone Talks About Having Hooded Eye Lids Like It's A Bad Thing. I Feel Like I Have To Hide Them. I Don't Feel As Pretty Or Confident As I Could Because Of Them. But Anyways I'm New To Make Up & I Was Hoping You Can Do A Tutorial Using This Pallette For Hooded Lids, Please? (:

  • @BabyBones11 Did you know Madonna, Paris Hilton and Renee Zellweger all have hooded eyes? As do many other beautiful women? Hooded eyes are often called "bedroom eyes" because men find them sultry and sexy. So don't feel bad about having them - feel special that you've got an eyeshape a lot of women would kill for :) I've got hooded eyes too by the way and wouldn't swap them for anything :)

  • Finally! I have been looking for vids on hooded eyes for a while. If you see my vid you'll see what I mean. I haven't really been putting anything on my upper lid because I think that it makes me look like I have bruised eyes but that's just me. Also, my eyeshadow always ends up in my crease but you can't really see it unless I look down or raise my eyebrows. Thanks for the tips. :D

  • thank you so so so much. I have pretty hooded eyes and have been struggling to find good tutorials to suit my eyes...AND NOW I HAVE!!!!! you're a gem =)

  • but i always hear it the other way around... darked color on lid and lighter on hood?

  • Goodness! Your eyelashes are long!!!

  • hi, could u tell me if the urban decay naked eye shadow palette would be suitable for warm tan skin tone. many thanks.

  • Yes...you do not have hooded eyes! I am jealous. I was born with them and it gets worse as you age.

  • I have very hooded eyes - to the extent that when my eyes are open normally and looking straight ahead, you don't see the lid - so the light purple would be invisible. Because of this, I never do make-up on my own hooded eyes this way - although mine may just be extremely so. For me, the best way to hide the hood is to use one colour all over the lid and up past the crease. Perhaps, though, this is just what works best for myself. False eyelashes also work wonders.

  • you are turkey but good , i like u as a make - up teacher!!!!

  • Can you do a tutorial on how to do winged eyeliner on hooded eyes?

  • @TheGChace Look at beautycakez :P she has a tutorial for it

  • only one of my eyes is hooded. what do u suggest i do?

  • hermoso resultado, beautiful make up,...

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ACTUALLY CONSIDERING HOODED EYED GIRLS. Asians especially have hooded eyes. so it totally gave me hope on being able to wear eyeshadows now.coz i tried following some other gurus and i just look a mess.i finally know i have hooded eyes thanks to you. appreciate this loads.

  • I was able to completely understand her technique even though she doesn't have hooded eyes as I do, because her instruction was so detailed and described my eyes exactly. I'm gonna go try this right now! Great video

    taffycat@cox.ent

  • I have pale/fair skin and lighter hair. These colors would make me look beat up. :(

  • @samii19 I'm fair and blonde; I've found that these colors work fine :) I also have semi-hooded eyes.

  • very helpful. i get it now

  • how can you do a tutorial on hooded eyes when you don't have hooded eyes. its like saying i'm going to do a long hair tuturial even though i have super short hair
