One of my colleagues who formerly worked at NG in Bethpage, NY, tells me that NG makes tail sections for many Boeing aircrafts - such as the Strke Fighter, I believe. BTW, I'm a naval architect at AMSEC LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding - one of NG's other activities.

Since these avionics components are not unique to these aircraft, and can be easily switched out for other versions, it seems to be quite a bit of a stretch to call these Northrop planes. After all, just because I run Yokahama tires on my car, that doesn't make it a Yokahama Mustang.

Ummm.. Northrop Grumman builds the whole section from the cockpit back of the F-18 (with the exception of the wings and a few other pieces)

Well actually it's from the aft end of the cockpit. I've seen the assembly line, and I've seen where the section from NG comes in from the trucks and is integrated with the rest of the airplane at the Boeing assembly building in Hazelwood, MO. :)

Sorry dude, but just because one company is responsible for the air frame, doesn't make them responsible for the entire aircraft. NG provides for the F-22 the the BACN as well as the AN/APG77 radar system.

F18's, F35, B2 and F23's not the F22.

Northrop has it's hand a lot and may not necessarily be the prime contractor on most of what you see.

For example, Lockheed is the prime on the F35. Northrop partnered with them as did BAE (British Aerospace)

Yeah, I remember when we first came here from England to work on that plane. It was Early 80's and I was only about 5 yrs old. My dad worked for BAE at the time in England and Northrop hired him. The F-20 was a brilliant plane. Only one remains in the LA flight museum.
