Awesome. You know... I have a playlist that kinda shows the similarities between Cheap Trick and another famous band from the '70's click my name if you want to see it. You won't belive what connections I've found! AND HEY!!! I WAS BORN IN 1994!!!!
90's. Actually, Monster did very well there. With that said.....Cheap Trick could tour Japan 12 months of the year every year and still fill the venues! They are like gods there. And why not? Their music is great!
What the hell is this song about? : ) Ya know...the boys in their younger years did write lyrics that were...say a little
provocative, but this song is pretty late in their career, and I guess it's about a sibling??? The "you're all I wanna do" part always made me wonder. At any rate, I'm a lifelong CT fan and was HOOKED TO THE MAX on this song from the moment I first heard that chorus. I thought it was Cheap Trick on their way back to the top!!! Oh well ; )O
I have this cd. The stand out for me was The Ballad "Tell me Everything" it just had that "If you Want My Love" vibe. Woke Up..." was F++kin' AWESOME too.
Yup, "Monster's" one of Cheap Trick's more underrated albums, but it still radiates with their infectious, funky showmanship! I'm very thankful they decided to shun to studio system after this CD and go indie. "Tell Me Everything" is my "Monster" fav (the guitars are just sublime on it)...that Trick tune actually helped me get thru my first break-up in college!
Thanks for the new CD info below, you're obviously a true blue fan, and the title is a allusion to their hometown. It doesn't matter anymore but I saw Cheap Trick as a COLLEGE sr. at Hancher Aud, in Iowa City, while finishing off my last yr of college April, 1977. "celebrating" thirty yrs. Those were the days, the warmed up for the Kinks, still have the tix stub...John, Santa Clara
This song and CD were huge in Japan when I lived there. Actually, Cheap Trick have a god-like status in Japan and tour there frequently. I have seen them twice in Canada---both were great shows.
billygtexas- I know what you mean. I was living in Portland Oregon in '94. I bought this and this song to me was a "no brainer" for the first single..Anyway I called KUFO in Portland numerous times...and everytime the DJ said the wouldn't play it, because it "doesn't fit our format!"....KUFO is Portland "modern" rock station..apparently Cheap Trick were too old school for them...Very dissapointing, but as a Trickhead I'm used to it.
This song and and (Love Me For A Minute) are my favorite songs from Monster.

>They have defined much of what rock and roll is today.
I would modify that to read "They have defined what rock and roll SHOULD be today."

Don't you ever post this insane drivel on a Cheap Trick post, or any other, but especially not a Cheap Trick one. They are above this.

Monster was a step in the right direction. But it comes no where close to their earlier work or their last three albums/cd's.
But it was nice to hear them starting to get their sea legs back with this cd.
Monster was like them learning to walk again. The follow up, self titles (aka CT97 or Dead And) was them not just walking but running full speed.

Girlfriend,is a tremendous hard heavy tune off this record also.sounds like Saxon and a little early on ACDC OR EVEN ROSE TATOO
