If you guys want, go to precentral (dot) net, and check out all the homebrew stuff for the pre. You can patch a lot of stuff to make the pre into just what you want. One patch allows for a dedicated camera button like the dude says in the beginning. Lots of awesome open source development going on there!

Haha, I'm not even a Palm user! I'm an HTC user. And the fact is, you can buy a phone separate of AT&T. You see, most people who have brains dislike being CF'd by atrocious cell phone plans as provided by their service provider. Thus, we buy phones, not plans, and subscribe to a plan as we see fit, not get tied down to one. I use Verizon, but the day I decide I want an iPhone and a service provider that's hemorrhaging money, I COULD switch to AT&T, no strings attached.

First, over 250 engineers left apple and other companies to make the pre. The designs seem similar because the actual people that invented them should have the right to use them. Secondly palm was one of the 1st touch screen devices. They originated threaded text messages. You didn't see palm bitching about all the other patent liberties apple took with the 1st iPhone. Bottom line when phones and carriers compete we all win. Sprint's CEO worked for and turned around ATT now history repeats.

Anyways, to me i am a business owner so the Palm Pre is a better phone. I used to have the iPhone and didnt like it. sorry =D The only thing I give the iphone a better rating is the music app (common sense) but besides that Palms have always been the fastes and most reliable phones on the market =D and stop talking about the 3.0. It;s crap, all they added was landscape view and search bars to all their apps, and that should have been a feature since version 1 of the iphone.
