God is amazing... the message to me was loud and clear via a question: "What was the name of the person who Paul requested be excluded from the church in Corinth, 1 Cor 5?"

A man.

No names. No public, personal reproval. Those within the church knew the "man" very well, and it was unnecessary to mention the name.

Christians on YouTube need to find an in-person church community. Too many are doing it on their own.

1) Was it smart for a son to call out his father for fornication to the whole world on YT?

Quite possibly not - i wasn't subbing either of them and I don't know the details.

2) More generally, should you publically call out a Pastor preaching on YT who is in fornication or preaching heresy or something?

Try a few PMs first, but if that doesn't work...

YT isnt a church, its a public forum.

And that means the correction has to be public too.

The only problem is I don't believe pj777 preached any heresy and if it weren't for jordan none of us would know that he was struggling with this issue of sin in his life off the camera.

There is your doctrine and your walk - both need to be right.

Of course I'm sorry he has fallen into sin. however there is a criteria in the bible that "pastors" (aka elders) must be held to. fidelity in marriage is one of those criteria.

This is true. And he did set his standards high by making himself known as "Pastor" Jer.

Still don't like the way it was handled though.

His channel should have been taken down after they talked about it and then a less specific message should have been made letting people know that he was not at a time in his life where he should be preaching... I mean, I don't know what the best scenario would be but I have a gut feeling that what Jordan did was not it.

Yup... I agree with both of you guys here... apparently, there were others who knew the situation, but who did nothing about it, either. It should have been left in their hands.

Left in the hands of the sons -- at the very least -- is the risk of a blatant violation of one of the ten commandments.

Amen... Youtube is not a church, it is a public forum, a very worldly one at that. Episodes such as this do however bring the church into disrepute. The pattern of bringing the one in error before 2 or 3 is aimed at restoration and reconciliation and is intended to be "inhouse", not as some Jerry Springer show. The church will recover from this, it will become a mere speck on the horizon after we move on to the next outrage. What worries me most in this unfortunate affair is the future of...

Jordan and Jerrys family relationship. This will not recover so easily. I realise Jordan is feeling hurt, and rightly so, how Jerry is behaving is terrible and I in no way condone it. But Jordans actions here will only serve to add to Jordans pain in the long run, as well as make Jerrys reconciliation nigh on impossible. Many people due to our sin nature will never forgive Jerry, nor give him a chance to move on from this. And many unbelievers will relish this as ammunition. Sad affair...

Im sorry guys, but I'm with Jordan on this one. I mean he did say that he confronted his father about this to come clean, so that he wouldnt have to do this. As it is written, "Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them."(Eph.5:11)

I agree with you that people should not embarrass other christians like that. But you got to remember Pastor Jerry is a public licensed minster!! So he should know better! And he should not be preaching if he's doing something sinful like that. It's one thing to fornicate. But he let a lady move in with him. He should know better than that. He needs to repent.

What Jordan did was scriptural.
