My daughter and I hope to visit Samoa one day. It is one of many our places we want to visit. • Beautiful..... Just beautiful....

  • My daughter called me at 1:00 am and got me out of bed to see this video. She had stumbled upon it and told me they were fantastic singers, I agree but there was an even bigger reason, my ex husband, my daughters father, passed away very unexpectedly June 2010. The gentlemen who is singing with them who is the next to last from left to right (big guy with beard on his chin) looks exactly like my ex husband. I almost fell out of my chair! I live in the U.S. but they say every one has a twin.

  • @purplechic103 that is so true..everyone's got a twin...I'm still looking for my twin... Sorry about your daughter's father!

I first heard this samoan version from Lapi Mariner and Sarah Jane Auvaa. Incidently, Sarah Jane and Maria (the Bride) are first cousins. I thought it would be nice song for the boys to sing. • Taywon uso ; and taywon voices xx

  • BRAVO BRAVO!! luv to my USO's worldwide!

  • This song is Antonio Prieto´original, version in spanish in youtube: Antonio Prieto La novia.

"Blanca y radiante va la novia,

le sigue atras su novio amante,

y que al unir sus corazones,

    haran morir mis ilusiones.

    Frente al altar esta llorando,

todos diran que es de alegria,

    dentro su alma esta gritando.

    Ave Maria.

    Enjoy

  • BEAUTIFUL!! That said, I'd like to pay tribute to the author of this song, Joaquin Prieto, and the great singer who made it famous; his brother Antonio. Both Chileans. Antonio Prieto, who was one of the greates voices of the romantic music in the 60's, is unfortunately ailed with Alzhaimer's today. Originally writen in Spanish, and named "La Novia" ("The Bride"), the lyrics are significantly different from the English version. It's about a girl forced to marry someone who se doesn't love.

  • @Fernanditoslc he isn't the author of this song.. this song was written by a Samoan. The composition maybe the same but the words are entirely samoan and have a different meaning from La Novia

  • @emanresu808 No doubt that this lyrics were written by a Samoan. It is very common to write free versions, which I stated in my comment. I remember the Spanish versions of some Elvis or Beatles songs, back in the days; not even close to the original words. I just said that the original song, written about 50 years ago, is "La Novia". To be honest (for me) the words are not the most important in this tune; it is the melody and, in this case, the singing; beautiful harmony and voices. Manuia!

  • @Fernanditoslc "I'd like to pay tribute to the author of this song"

I was just pointing out that Joaquin Prieto is NOT the author of THIS song as you stated earlier. NOT the same song. Same beat, two entirely different songs.

  • @emanresu808 Well, since you want to be so specific. The author of THE song is Joaquin Prieto. Somebody made up THIS lyrics for THE song, which means that somebody wrote a FREE VERSION of lyrics for THE song. About the melody, it is not just the beat, is the whole musical composition which is being used for THIS lyrics, which are different from the lyrics of THE song. The two ARE NOT two entirely different songs when they have THE SAME melody.

  • @Fernanditoslc ahh give it up already.. different lyrics= different meaning.. different meaning= different song.. got it?? not the same song??

the Samoan version could've been talking about taking a dump and just cuz the beat is the same you think the song is the same?? think again.. or think for the first time.

Enjoy THIS song.. it's called "Avea a'u mo oe" written by a SAMOAN not a Chilean

  • @emanresu808 It's not about giving it up. Please, you think again. A song is comprised of lyrics and melody (beat is a different thing that has nothing to do here. you can hit a wall with a stick and have a beat). When we talk of a song we talk about its original melody and its original lyrics. If I write a free lyrics version of "Yesterday" Does it make me the author of Yesterday? Obviously it doesn't. The authors remain Lennon & McCartney. Please...

  • @Fernanditoslc a song encompases lyrics, beat, melody, etc.. the lyrics to THIS song, in THIS video is NOT original therefore "Avea a'u mo oe" is a different song from "La Novia".. again, it may have the same melody and beat but it doesn't have the same lyrics.. which in turn makes it a different song..

  • @emanresu808 We would not having this Byzantine discussion if you would just understand that whomever wrote this lyrics is exactly that; the author of these lyrics, not the author of the song. To be called the sole author of a song you must write words and melody. Any changes after an original piece are just versions and nobody can claim authorship of the song, you can write a poem or make a personal rendering, but it remains a version. Anyway, keep calling song to whatever you want. Salud.

  • @emanresu808 ... and, by the way, if it is so different from "La Novia" ("The Bride") How comes that it is being sung in a wedding? (This is intended as humorous) I don't know if you are Samoan, but please, accept my respects for the fine Samoan tradition in singing. I know many Samoans here where I live and Samoan choirs are always a pleasure to listen. I propose to agree on disagreeing about what a song is or is not. Regards.

  • @emanresu808 Dude, you don't know what a frigging song is. A poem is not a song. If you have the words and you don't have the music you don't have a song. Read some and argue later. Cut it off!

  • @marcedomin ah Dude mind your own business.. where did i say a poem is a song?? besides you don't know what a song is.. a song is a poem that is accompanied by music..

maybe you should go read some and don't come back..

  • @emanresu808 You said it because you call song to what it just lyrics. Don't come back? OK Mr Youtube... I mind my business, if you call this a song, then whomever wrote the words is plagiarizing the melody. Shame on who did it.

  • @marcedomin huh?? yeah you obviously don't know how to read or write. i never said that a song is just lyrics. i said this is a different song(from La Novia) because they chagned the lyrics and meaning to it..

and yes they borrowed the melody.. so sue them.

  • @emanresu808 How do you call a music without words? A song. Do you call it a song when it is just a poem? NO! a poem is not a song. I don't care about suing, but I sent the video to the Chilean Copyrights Association. Because this is obviously a commercial rendering, they probably will hear from them. Now I can go. And you are still an ignorant.

  • @marcedomin oh shut up.. it's not like they published this song.

  • wow! they having very voice and looks too!

  • just wanna 2 kno who sings this song.

  • the Samoan version or English version? Well the Samoan version was translated by Mr. Falefatu Enari and he later recorded it with Mrs. Fauolegogo Tanielu.
