transfomers was awesome, the cgi, visual effects, special effects and sound effects were all amazing, the golden compass, good movie, nice cgi but the cgi was so obvious, it didn't look that realistic but in tf, the robots looked so realistic, i felt like i could reach in the screen and touch'em, big up to industrial light animators and visual effects artist for such an outstanding job on tf

Let me enlighten you a little bit.

ILM (Industrial Light & Magic) did all the VFX and CGI in Avatar. Also did they do most the VFX and CGI in Transformers.

Maybe avatar was better, the movie was shit anyway..

But dont argue what was better.. just agree that ILM is amasing :D

ILM and Digital Domain both worked on transformers. And i respect both their work. ILM also did Avatar, Iron Man, Pirates of the caribbean, star wars, star trek, jurssaic park and so on for ages..

Sure ILM is better than Digital Domain, ILM is the ones who invented CGI and VFX. (watch the documentary about them called Creating the impossible) They started over 40 years ago.

Digital Domain is smaller, and is owned by Michael Bay. So both is amasing, but ILM is a little better.

You gotta keep in mind that CGI in Transformers 1-3 is really massive, if not most ever. And Digital Domain simply doesn't have the resources, expertise, and manpower to achieve Bay's vision alone. ILM does, so they did the bigger CGI and VFX while Digital did less major work load in order to finish within the deadline that Bay and studio needs the movie in final cut.

"Most ever" would probably go to the prequel Star Wars trilogy. 90% of the movies were empty sets with green screens. Entire sequences were done with nothing more than the actors, and the rest was CGI.

It didn't take much resources for them to render backgrounds in any prequel. Just the sheer volume of work needed to render and details of crafting every single piece of a robot in ROTF outmatches all three movies of Star Wars prequel.

Going to put in something I didn't realize you meant. We aren't talking about just backgrounds, we are talking about EVERYTHING. Foreground scenery, characters, equipment, vehicles.

If an actor did not directly hold onto it for balance or to climb, it's a chance it was CGI. Yes, that takes a hell of alot of resources to render that. While the Transformers they did for the movie were indeed detailed, the amount of time and resources it took cannot compare to one movie, let alone all.

Michael Bay let Digital Domain do the work that ILM didnt bother to do. (The meteors crashing and the ice area where megatron was crash landed when captain witwicky found him)

Because ILM is the best of the best, thats why he paid them to do it. Digital Domain is propably not capable of doing it. ILM is huuuuuuge, DD isnt.
