In some ways, this is a kind of scaled-down version of the live showpiece Introducing The Band, in which every band member played a solo after being introduced by Hansi. Not as many solos here, but just as impressive.
this is spectacular. amazing how many, and the impact of, arrangements, with this song, and it's timelessness. is this on cd?? i couldn't find it. thanks.
Is this available on cd, if I recall a diff version was on the uk album Happy summer night. Is it possible to download these clips on to your hard drive
He also played with Kurt Edelhagen and the WDR Big Band. The other soloists are Lennart Axelsson (second trumpet), Herbert Bornholdt (tympani), Karl-Hermann Lüer (sax player with shades) and Harald Ende (bearded sax player).
Can you give me any more info on him? He is a long lost relative of mine....no really ...and I am trying to get in touch with him. He lived in the States but then worked in German studio bands if I am not mistaken. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. Woosailor@gmail.com

I PM'd you about this comment. Anxious to do some genealogy on the Kiefer's. Any way you could give me an assist in contacting Rick?

Hi - thanks for the comment. The reason I uploaded it was because this live version is not available on CD or LP. It's a great piece!

GREAT STUFF! Memories abound. Funny, when I was a boy, I hated this stuff, my parents used to play it on Saturday nights......

Oh yeah, he played with Maynard Ferguson in the early sixties, I think, as well. Thanks.

Trumpet player has horrible posture. He obviously can play, though. Anyone know who it is?
rdangelo 5 years ago
It's Rick Kiefer, as well as playing with James Last he has also played with Stan Kenton and Stan Getz to name but two.
