On the Black River there is a 70's Chevy pickup buried in the riverbed, all that can be seen are the tops of the doors, the bed sides and the top of the dash. It's cool to see.
I know of a place kind of like this only much much larger on the banks of Whitewater River. Its south of Richmond, IN near Brookville Lake State Park. Its a stretch of bank that goes on for about 500 feet or more and it contains a layer of cars, all pre 60's, about 20 feet thick and covered by about 20-30 feet of dirt. The cars were not crushed and almost seemed to come up from the ground/water. Who knows how long they have been there. I was on a canoe trip when I found it. It was very creepy.
Ive been on this same exact float from the Palisades to Allenton River access. My floatie poped not even half way there so I had to swim the rest of the way. We ran out of drinks. And we didnt get to the river access until 9pm. WE learned always over prepare for a float trip and know how long it is before going.
You know, we had a hell of a time on that same stretch. Took us 6 hours, 3 people in a float and not a hint of current. We felt like we literally pulled ourselves up the river to our destination. What a drag you had to SWIM!!! Maybe we both need to try a different stretch of river in future! Take care.
nice video!
