  • This may be way to late and maybe you'll never read this, but the easiest way would be to replace the cd drive. You could replace just the spindle, as it is slipping by the looks of it, but that would be more work then its worth. Just pick up a old PSONE, and switch the drives out.

  • can anyone help me with my ps1 it spins then it stops and spins again please help

  • @kyuubinaruto233 google

  • i have the exact same problem. i hit the damn thing to hard after getting mad about wu tang game.

  • try to change the lens

  • My PS2 had that problem, I just got a new one

  • go to repair..

  • Ahhh... never mind my last comment! I actually just had a PS1 with the same problem and here's what I did to fix it... First step is to take apart the lens drive assembly and clean it up. And I don't mean just wipe it off... Take the ENTIRE assembly apart and clean out every little nook and cranny with either a needle or a paperclip, then add a little Vaseline to the cogs connected to the drive motor.

If that doesn't work, google "Playstation Lens Servo Adjustment".

  • The disc drive motor is damaged/dying. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole lens/disc module. Maybe someone out there knows how to replace just the motor itself, but finding a compatible motor might be a problem, and most replacement distributors only sell the whole lens module. They're only about 15 dollars on ebay.

  • i have a PS1 and the game doesn't spin

and it takes me to the memory card

and audio cd options could someone

    tell whats wrong with it

  • @bill842408 My PSone has that problem too

  • @bill842408 i ot the same problem too

  • @bill842408

The PS1 laser probably isnt reading the disk. Easy fix would be to replace the cd drive. I believe if you have a 5501-900x series have the same cd drive, and if you have a earlier model, just cutting the plastic a bit will make it fix.

  • I have a problem a bit like this. i got a PlayStation 1 of Ebay and it came in the mail. the disc won't spin and the motor is runing faster than it should. Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • I'll sell you my drive (works, 100% guarantee) for $20.

It seems to me that what's not working is either your ps1's driver/firmware OR your drive could be damaged. I hope it's the drive that's damaged, cuz you can spend $20 (courtesy of me) and fix it, and if it's a firmware short/problem, then you gotta ditch the ps1.

  • scamer

  • ok i have a problem with my ps1:

so the support where you put your cds like in this video is completly destroyed...

and now i can't play no games and don't seem to find anything like it to replace it on the market.

    so any suggestions ?

    thnx in advance.

  • Have you tried taking an old cd players disc holder out and putting it on the PlayStation.

Pry it off with a flat head screwdriver, do the same on the cd players, carefully so you don't break it, and stick it on the PlayStations motor spindle.

  • happend to my old ps1 well its stuffed for good dude

  • OCCASVS.. can you tell me if you game loads up or what ever.. what happens on the scree with a game in it? does it just go to the memory card/music thing? cus i have that problem with my moded ps1.. i was playing legend of dragoon and in a cut scene it just froze and wont load any games up just goes to the memory card bit and im tryign to get it fixed lol

  • ok so after seeing many videos on here and googleing alot of forums heres what i did to fix my problem tho i dont know how long it will last... i just took the drive out and fiddled around with the laser thing on the underside (not taking it apart) and then i just plugged the cords and stuff back in an it WORKS!!! :D hope that helps P.S. most ps1 makes horrid grinding and rattling noises well all of mine have any way haha

  • Thanks for your reply! This is the boot sequence of my PS: -power on -lots of rattling noises (as you can hear on the video) -it tries to load the game (Sony logo on white background) -it DOESN'T display the PS logo on black background -it goes to the memory card menu instead Basically, it can't load anything now. When it still worked, I had random freezes, a/v desync, weird noises, graphical artefacts. Maybe I may try to replace the spindle hub if I find one. Have you fixed your problem yet?
  • yea i had the exact same problem.. i just fiddled with the laser on the under side of it with out taking it apart and it just happened to work for me.. i also unplugged one the the cord things the plastic sheet one and plugged it back in.. i also noticed you have one of the mini psx's i have an origional so i dont know if it will be the same thing my psx is also chipped wich is why i was so devod wen it fuct up cus i just downloed 6 final fantasy games lol

  • @OCCASVS Your Drive Motor May Be Dying It slows down from its normal speed so you need to get the drive replaced

  • @OCCASVS My PS1 is weird but cool:It spins cd but DVD TOO!

  • mine does the same thing. I have no idea why either.

  • dude mine makes a tick tick tick noise and the disc wont read
