  • 8 months after giving birth to my own baby daughter, I was a bit afraid to watch it. Eventually, it brought back precious memories. snif.

  • what is this -a horror movie ? lol

  • You gotta admit, he did have a beautiful wife.

  • Stan B.- "shit, doc! CUT! we are going to have to do the birth again. pure crap on your part. try to make the audience fall in love with your gloved hand. really feel it. ok? annnnnnd.....ACTION!"

  • beautiful for sure. the birth. it has nothing to do with technique

  • The sequel, in which the child enters first grade, is called "Doorknob Blackboard Bully Threatening."

  • saw the movie in 1975 in college, never forgot how moving and beautiful it was and still is.

  • Beautiful. It's difficult to appreciate this film when you're watching it for the first time. Give yourself enough time, e.g. 6 years as in my case, then watch it again to the sound of slow jazz music or whatever does it for you. Thanks to my Canadian film studies professor for showing me this back in 2003. Good shit.

  • hehe, good shit!

  • Beautiful, beautiful, raw and real

  • i think its like some forms of free jazz.....brakhage knew what he was doing.....whether everyone likes it is another story......

  • I agree, it does remind me of some forms of free jazz. I wouldn't describe this as aesthetic, like most free jazz, but pure self expression, well almost... which I think is it's true beauty.

  • maybe i was harsh but its still nothing to be in awe of. It really

didn't take too much cinemagraphic work, talent* . Seems theres just not that much skill in filming. The editing is wat makes it almost worth any kind of hush

  • yeaaaa beautiful.....its fucking wacky, it shouldn't be a film, its messed up. Exploiting something natural, turning it into something dark and weird.

  • i think this is ballsy filmmaking on both of their parts.........theres a lot on the line here that isnt dark or weird..........................

  • maya deren objected to this film (these are mysteries meant for women) as did tarkovsky on similar grounds......

i have always found this film very beautiful.....

  • incredibly powerfull !!! love it

  • well there are pictures of vaginas in it.

  • Great Film!

  • Anyone that says this video is disturbing is an absolutely misled individual. There's nothing wrong with this film whatsoever! It's normal and natural child birth. Though violence in the movies aforementioned may not be real, the actions are not "natural" phenomena of nature. Get a Life people! This is a totally legit video.

  • that macks me scared to ave my baby! if there going to do that!

  • This film is one of the most powerful films I have ever had the privilege to watch. Absolutely Amazing!

  • What does it say about our priorities when this is flagged as inappropriate, but any minor is free to search for and watch scenes from Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas that feature brutal violence and death? Why are we so terrified of the human body!? Anyone who says that this is more "inappropriate" than watching someone get their head blown off with a semi-automatic shotgun is seriously disturbed.

  • Those scenes from Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas are not real. I'm sure if there is a video on YouTube of someone really getting their head blown off, it is already flagged. Now, I haven't been a minor for quite some time, but I'm pretty sure I would find Window Water Baby Moving more traumatizing as a child than anything in Pulp Fiction or Goodfellas.

  • And that's the problem. You should be more disturbed by an artificial construction of death than a real vision of birth.

  • Why should I?

  • i agree. this is beautiful. Brakhage is pretty amazing. I believe this is his wife too, as I was told by my professor.

  • Holy crap.

    I had to watch this.

    Now i'm even moreeee scared to give birth o_O;

  • I cant believe this was made in the 50's.

  • very experimental

  • One word - BIZARRE!

  • Jesus Holy Mary of Joseph Christ Almighty, that was disgusting. Man....that is so scary. I vowed that my woman will give birth underwater and squatting after seing this: first birth movie I have ever seen. But it really doesn't make a difference does it? it hurts anyway. I just don't like the way the doctor pokes and prauds at the woman's vagina. Doesn't that risk the baby having head trauma or a squished head or something?

  • Come on, take it easy. Happy new year!

  • I'm glad somone's happy,because I'm not,but then if you were in my shoes,you wouldnt be happy either,AT ALL.Happy New Year,hmm another year of waitng begins,yours Stew.

  • everyone's happy, it all depends through what window ur looking

  • the sound is your choice!!!!!!!!!!!!!! try with gymnopedie # 1 by erik satie

  • its the placenta

  • Wow. That was amazing. I've never seen someone be born before. What was that he pulled out after the baby? Was that the womb or the placenta or something? -feels uneducated-

  • this video freaks me out whaaaa, the video is filmed so close to the characters, it's just like a horor movie...

  • no sound?

  • Correctly, no sound.
