i understand you, but you got to remember that there are not that many s1's left these days, i guess if you own one, you drive like this and never push it but of course it can handle some punishment.:) best car ever made. btw a friend told me that they tested a s1 vs a f1 car, and the s1 had better lap times then the f1... on dirt...
Who ever thought up the idea of introducing the 100db noise limit needs putting on a rocket and sending to the moon. The world rally cars we have now could sound good if they hadn't been muted by some fuckin arse hole.

Audi changed the order of the spark plug ignition to reverse (1-2-4-5-3 I think) for the quattro. So the engine sounds somewhat different than a "normal" 5-cylinder.
Btw, the sound of that big turbo charger is great! Problem: You have to keep the engine at high rev to avoid that massive turbo lag...
I do not understand that. I have a normal 2WD 5-cylinder (2.3E) and mine also has 1-2-4-5-3. I do not think they changed that just for the quattro.
The differences in the sound might have to do with 10V or 20V technique and of course, different exhaust systems. The car you hear above is a 20V turbo.
