Is it possible for citizens of the United Kingdom to get any their National Health Services (NHS) health coverage benefits transferred to them if they move outside the UK? Can they get any reimbursement for medical fees incurred outside of the UK?
The U.S spends more money on Healthcare per GDP than Britain does.
For the money, every single British person is entitled to use the NHS, for everything from Antibiotics, to surgery that would cost over $100,000 in the U.S.
The Americans are paying for something they aren't even receiving
@theunderone1 it's extortion...how do you oppose it? under the guise of "healthcare" few will. They say, make me rich or you MAY die. We say, we'll take our chances. They say, you will make me rich or you WILL die. Yet, Im sure our Creator is not asking us to make others rich or die. Yet, that is what our "healthcare" system has turned into. It's nothing less than extortion and now legalized extortion forcing everyone to participate world wide.
When I pay taxes, it goes to the NHS, not to a private company.
I don't understand why the U.S doesn't just scrap the current Healthcare and have a National system, it costs YOU less, the Government less and it is far more effective.
The NHS costs less than %1 of your wages, most people don't even notice its cost.
Plus it is very easy to manage and you don't have to deal with paperwork that overcomplicate the system.
@theunderone1 last heard touted here was more like 8 to 12% of wages. Not 1%. It's a "make me rich or die" situation. Pay the high costs or die. If you cannot afford healthcare you go without or go bankrupt. To prevent individuals from going bankrupt because they refuse to be extorted by overpriced services, they simply nationalize care making it illegal to go without thus extorting money from all.
Britons spent $2,992 per capita on health in 2007 while earning 22,202. Are these numbers wrong?
Well, if it is 8 to %12 percent of your wages they will take, that's a very different story.
I don't even know why they would take that much money, both my Mother and Father only pay less than %1 of their wage, (I'm a student so I don't pay anything at all).
The "Make me rich or die" idea would be impossible under the NHS, when you pay taxes, it goes straight to the NHS, like funding for Schools or the Police, it doesn't go into anyone's pocket.
@theunderone1 I don't think Britons are paying just 1% it looks more like 8 to 10% according to the numbers I have seen. Could be wrong though, I have not verified sources.
The most I've ever heard of anyone paying is something like %3.4, but that was because she was an American living in Britain, so I think she had to pay more (as she had lowered taxes).
If the new American Healthcare is as much as %8, then I would oppose it. But did't Obama say that you didn't have to pay for it if you didn't use it? If you already have Healthcare then you don't pay taxes, like in Britain, if you pay for your own Healthcare, you get a tax reduction.
@theunderone1 Obama says if you can pay and don't pay you will pay on your taxes at the end of the year. If you don't pay your taxes than what? The IRS is left in charge of the mandate and what do they do to people who "evade" their taxes? Over here, they put you in jail. Not a pretty picture....sounds like pay or die to me.
If you don't pay your taxes here, you get a fine or they take it from your wage, you only get sent to prison when you lie about your tax tomake a profit.
The U.S is turning into a Communist system for the people and Capitalist for the rich. I am in no way Left wing or a hippy, but it seems that way.
Americans pay more tax than us, and receive far less, you should really ask yourself, when I pay taxes, what does it really go to? because you're certainly not benefiting from it.
@theunderone1 that's funny "lie to make a profit" that is what our "capitalist" system encourages...lying to make a profit. I hear influential individuals over here rail against social services and at the very same time bash those who are in favor of things like a higher minimum wage. Anyone who works ought to receive enough wages individually to cover that which society deems necessary to survive. Anything less is an unjust wage. Many social services would not be needed if just wages were paid.
our medical here in canada is also great, although our medical system has one major problem, AMERICA lol serously, the states pays the docs way to much and because of that canada struggles to attract doctors. hopefully reform will lead to lowering their pay so canada can get competitive. having a border with the states has it's up and downs thats for sure.
Well, good paying jobs are OK so long as individuals utilizing essential services can pay for them individually without having to resort to a collective system in order to pay for those services.
Just wages sustained by a governed market place is justice for all.
It is so wonderful living in the UK where I NEVER have to worry about how much healthcare costs. I recently had surgery and it was great to know that I didn't have to concern myself with insurance or money or worrying if I was covered. With the UK NHS I was seen by my doctor, referred to a specialist then stayed in hospital for my surgery and left. Healthcare available to EVERY citizen no matter who you are or how much money you have. UK NHS is great!!!!
The injustice is every single person pays regardless of use allowing those within the industry access to excessive profits they otherwise would not have. What would be nice is, if ever single person had access to real wages and health care costs were real affordable.
Individuals, individually, not collectively, should have access to affordable health care.
Wikipedia: "NI in the UK ... a ... system of insurance against illness ..." This system costs everyone. Less then 1% profit from it and no one is extending their days on this earth only recapturing days which have been lost by individual choices and choices made by for profit collectives.
Nearly everyone will need healthcare at some point in their lives. And in addition could it not then be said that paying any tax is an injustice???? Perhaps people should pay for schools individually or the postal systems??? I think there is also a lack of understanding on the NHS system in the UK. Hospitals here are solely owned by and operated by the NHS and DO NOT make profits whatsoever!!!!!!!!!!
Paying tax: render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. ?what things ought to be Caesar's?

The U.S. Postal Service "The independent government agency relies on postage and fees to fund operations. Though it has a monopoly on delivering the mail, the USPS faces competition for services such as package delivery." answers . com/topic/united-states-postal-service
No one is forced to pay for postal service and this service does not increase the cost of mail delivery. Health Insurance does increase the costs of Health Coverage for everyone including the uninsured, which is unjust.
Community under the influence of the Holy Spirit had difficulty as their is sin in the world. We see this exhibited in the early Church. Men everywhere are still being called to repentance, to faith in Christ.
Better to keep powers separated and wealth with the individual.
