There is something seriously wrong when the Feds are going after oil drillers in ND for 6 birds dying because of sagging nets over holding ponds...and then they turn a complete blind eye towards this.
Cats, skyscrapers etc kill a lot of birds...that is true. But they are primarily very common birds that actually need to have their numbers kept in check. Wind turbines are most deadly to birds of prey and other migratory species that have much smaller populations. This problem is especially bad because wind farms are typically located near coastlines and other natural features that are typical habitats/hunting grounds.
Better tear down skyscrapers and powerlines too because they both kill more birds than wind turbines. Get a life. If your that concerned maybe you should quit consuming so much electricity. Fucking wannabe hippies.
I was walking down the streeet on the pavements, one of the floor tiles was uplifted since days. It had been a weee or so, Thatnow I saw a thick patch of grass , ver rich in colour grew out of it. Why we guys have made roads covering the firtility of soil for the earth to resist pollution.
NUMBER OF ANIMALS KILLED IN THE UNITED STATES BY CARS ANNUALLY: * 41 million squirrels * 26 million cats * 22 million rats * 19 million opossums * 15 million raccoons * 6 million dogs * 350,000 deer
NOT TO MENTION INSECTS AND BIRDS.
NUMBER OF BIRDS KILLED BY DOMESTIC CATS IN THE US ANNUALLY:
1 BILLION, AND THAT IS A CONSERVATIVE NUMBER.
SORRY IF I'M BORING YOU WITH THESE NUMBERS BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE PICTURES OR VIDEO.
I've heard the turbines are susceptible to static electricity generated in on the fins, so if you could channel that static into the turbine then you could destroy the wind-turbine engines. Massive amounts arc welds and compromised parts.
You could cut the earthing somehow and the turbine would destroy itself.
Marco, i suggest you would go back to Mexico if you dont like USA. wind tubine produce clean energy unlike the nuclear plants. fuck your birds, what about the chinese skinning alive cats and dogs and eating them?
my gosh you schmucks! they are wind turbines. if yr going to try and make and argument against them get their name right. get this 1.7 billion birds are killed by cats, and you wanna make an argument that wind turbines kill a few thousand birds a year?! go smoke another joint and try another reason.
@20JRad20 If it was an oil company killing birds you would be screaming your head off, wouldn't you? If you killed a Golden Eagle, you would have to pay a $10,000 fine, but these energy companies that own the wind farms pay no fines. It;s like "Save The Planet, Kill The Earth." Sacrifice Brother Hawk and Brother Eagle for the sake of Al Gore's credibility and General Electrics' profits
@Revvin If a golden eagle hits my car, I'm sorry that bird was next on Darwin's list. The Exxon Valdez killed a staggering 90,000 to 270,000 birds while the common cat kills a more than 1.7 billion birds annually. Turbines on the other hand kill on an average of 10,000 to 40,000 birds annually. If you feel it necessary you can look up studies on bird deaths due to natural causes, cars and other forms of bird fatalities.
There is no solution for all issues. Let's enter in the stone ages again and not use any kind of energy. ah, the time that you spend doing this video, helped to kill more birds. Think about this...
This video should give more technical details on that rather vague "tower" concept. It's unclear if the structures shown here could replace that many turbines with less swept blade area, along with being shielded from the wind by cages. Large VAWTs have not caught on for some reason.
The Maglev turbine concept has promise if it ever gets beyond vaporware.
@rcmadness13 thats a pretty narrow minded and ignorant view on things isn't it? birds are an essential part of a structured food chain that effects many other species.....including people!!! dramatically reducing any species of animal is bad for all animals in the long run. im no tree hugger or environmentalist but these are simple facts of life!
a lot more birds die by car , but I mean cheap urban birds , just throw one bread and u have 10 more of these birds in your back yard

WORLD RECORD: BIGGEST WIND TURBINE
Visit: windturbinecarriedbywheels.weebly.com
ZERO-NOISE from gears and generators since they are sealed underground.
SAVES THE BIRDS AND BATS since slow-moving.
DOES NOT NEED TO OCCUPY A WIDER LANDSCAPE since the turbine can be very tall.
MAY BE LOWER-COST since it may use timber and other cheaper things.
ELUDES HURRICANE FORCE since the blades automatically close.
NO FIRE since well-cooled.
HELPS THE WIND ENERGY COMPANIES since it is FREE FOR ALL.

SAVES THE BIRDS AND BATS because the turbines are slow-moving since the speed is in the transmission gears and in the generators.

Those water tank looking wind turbines won't work.
Google "transpower" clothesline turbines, they failed here in CA bad, same idea.
And do you realize all the birds that where killed by Dai iche in Japan or by BP, come on?
