I suppose I don't mind if I'm prayed for. The idea is sort of nice. All I wish is that they would stop proclaiming it. Quite often they do it out of spite, and that's not very Christ-like. Pray, but quietly.

Speaking as an Atheist I encourage religious people to pray for me. In my opinion, prayer is the next best thing to doing nothing. And doing nothing is much better than having them do something that might actually have a result.

god will forgive you if you truuly from your heart repent and recieve jesus, god will keep on us to pray for you but it does come to down to free will. if you want hell that bad god will not stop you. but god loves you and will still have us pray for you in hopes youll change your mind and chose heaven instead while you still have the chance

A message to all Christians. Keep praying in private to your imaginary friend. Or the trinity whatever you like. Keep it private because all the other Gods that you don't believe in could be watching.

hahaha, who do you think you are to be able to blasphemy the holy spirit? there are like 5 conditions that must apply to the person before that verse takes into affect, and not a single person on earth can meet them. i got a suggestion: rather taking parts out of the bible, twisting them, then pretending to know the bible, actually READ IT! *lightbulb* :) God Bless you!

Atheists SHOULD know the Bible. Making a decision like that with no information is hardly short of insane. That being said, if you solely use the Bible to judge whether or not there is a god, then you're being ignorant. Also realize that ignorant isn't purely an insult, it's an adjective.
I suppose I don't mind if I'm prayed for. The idea is sort of nice. All I wish is that they would stop proclaiming it. Quite often they do it out of spite, and that's not very Christ-like. Pray, but quietly.

Im an atheist, and I want christians praying for me. It's not going to hurt me if god is not real, and if for some reason im wrong and god is real, he might answer their prayers and set me on the right track. Logically there is nothing wrong with people praying for atheists.

@MacksP0w3r But they have some kind of need to tell what they're gonna do, just do it we don't need to know, besides it's usually said in a pretty condescendant way, also often it's said when you explained something, and that's kind of rude, is like "I ignore your post or posts, I answer nothing and I tell you that I'm gonna pray for you"... wouldn't you be a little frustrated if you were explaning something to me and try to make a good point/argument and I go "whatever.. I'll pray for you"?

Kind of a fun point. Though I think the idea of prayer is to repent and show your love and faith for God. I wouldn't know, I'm an atheist and don't pray, but praying for someone's soul is pretty silly if you've researched your Christian faith and take it seriously. I won't quote the Bible here, because I'm sure some Christian would tell me I'm wrong or I'm paraphrasing, but I will say this: The Bible contradicts itself. Historically, philosophically. Don't take it literally, for the love of GOD

@IvanTheHealer Read it dude. Historically the facts don't add up, it says certain things happened a certain way in one passage and in another it will say something else. I'm not going to cite it for you either, you need to research your stuff before you go and say ignorant things like this.

@chalupaho im not ignorant. please give me one example of the bible contradicting itself...oh right you cant. the one place i can think right off the top of my head is the gospels each have a different say on what was written on Jesus's cross...the argument is that words are placed differently in each gospel..SERIOUSLY? SERIOUSLY? it matters not in what order the words were placed, what matters is what was written...cant think of any othe contradiction off top of my head :(

Matthew 1:6-16 vs. Luke 3:21-38 - not simply contradictory, but childish, as one "traces" Jesus back to "Adam"!!!
Acts 9:7 contradicts Acts 22:9 & 26:14.
1 Jn 4:9 vs. Job 1:6 & Gn 6:2
Prov 3:13 vs. Eccles 1:18
Gn 11:12 vs. Lk 3:35-36.

@chalupaho continuing from my first response, i read the bible, i love it. im taking bible classes and im a very open minded person, and am willing to accept and hear other people's arguments..only the insecure and the shallow, blindly close themselves to everything else. i would be happy if arguments that the bible being a piece of shit were directed at me, id be happy to provide an answer :) God bless you good sir!

@IvanTheHealer Didn't say it was a piece of shit. Said it was FULL of shit. I just wish people took the lessons of kindness and charity, and forgot the 'God hates fags' idea. Just as an example, anyway. To be honest, I'm not sure if this link is entirely accurate and I've not cared to remember the ones I knew a while ago, but maybe you should google 'bible contradictions' or 'bible inconsistencies'. Not to mention remember the time it was written in and how words don't mean what they mean now.

@IvanTheHealer You also have to remember that the bible was written through word of mouth by people who didn't actually witness the events first-hand. 30-90 years after jesus had died, it's believed. That in itself should tell you that there might be some inconsistencies, not to mention all the times it's been translated and edited. And edited and edited and edited..

Speaking as an Atheist I encourage religious people to pray for me. In my opinion, prayer is the next best thing to doing nothing. And doing nothing is much better than having them do something that might actually have a result.
