  • queensryche rule irish fans

  • We need speak.

  • anyone who said "Queensryche sucks", can you do better in Lyrics, guitar tabs, bass tabs, drums, or vocals? I can't drum, I can't play bass, I can't sing (that's for damn sure), I think I can play guitar, not well, but I can play. BOTTOM LINE: Queensryche rocks!

  • @frankisfunny2007 They rocked before losing Chris DeGarmo and before Geoff Tate started smoking. I don't think they suck but they aren't as good as they use to be.

  • @MetalElf exactly, Queensryche never sucked

  • if you`ll notice it`s part of a larger picture and rock opera.watch the final chapters and see what happens, then you can better comment on the topic...

  • To the ones who's bashing ZX2ManDave. You people do understand that there are MANY similarities to our country now and to the way it was then. Queensryche even portrays that in Operation Mindcrime II. In fact, Geoff Tate did the sequel, not just to appease the story itself, but because things still haven't changed.

Damn good band Queensryche are. I love how they think and how they PLAY. lol yea.

  • Change yea that is all I have in my pocket. QR are all about Revolution. Obama is not even a Citizen. He is a Communist and needs to be arrested.

  • To ZX2 obviously your powers of comprehension are missing. 1) Queensryche are talking about social equality and 2) This song is from Operation: Mindcrime in 1988 when Republicans controlled the country. If you really listen to Queenryche's lyrics you would know that they support Change.

  • @helsaint

Reagan was the Republican president from '80-'88. Then GHW Bush became president in '88.

Regardless, the Democrats controlled Congress, so the country was actually run by them, though Reagan was the president. It's Congress who are the final authority in this nation, not the president. It's Congress who make and approve the budgets, enact laws, etc.

  • I Love this song. It has a message without question. People need to Speak. It is why we have voices. Just Speak.

  • I Love this song. It has a message without question. People need to Speak.

  • I love the guitar from Michael Wilton on this song. Maybe my favorite album of all time.

  • Best Album Ever.

  • Ah Queensryche back in the days when they were a bloody amazing band. How I miss them.

  • Ryche = Band for brainy metalheads. We rule!

  • The hair is hilarious! Ahhhhh, I miss those days. . . ha, when I had hair.

Shit have you guys heard their new side-project? So fucking good.

I found Parker Lundgren in iTunes, and it's called Don't wake me up. Super sick.

  • Hollywood needs to make a movie out of this album.

  • @ravenlorans No they don't. Hollywood is another aspect of the media, and corporate controlled. If they even made the movie it would be awful.

  • I'm trying to learn this album on bass by ear and damn it's so hard! This is my favorite song on the album. My older brother saw the 1992 tour where they played the entire album and I'm fucking jelous! They are playing in my town tomorrow but it's some gay caberet thing.

  • thanks for upload! they are one of my favorites.

  • ZX2Man,

Just so you know Queensryche is a hard core leftist band. So I don't think they'll be joining your idiotic/Sarah Palin Tea Party brigade.

  • @seospider TWINK

  • You gotta love rock opreas! ^ w ^

  • Queensryche, simply one of the all time greats.

  • wait did they say burn the white house down um.........i like the song but that bothers me a little probly cuase my dad is in the army....gotta think about this

  • @MasterJokoth, you have to listen to this song within the context of Queensryche's masterpiece album (or should I say CD), Operation: Mindcrime. The album tells a story, which needs to be listened to from beginning to end, with your headphones on, lyrics on hand and at least an hour of your time. Respect to your dad and I know for a fact that Queensryche supports all military. Check out QR's recent release AMERICAN SOLDIER, songs created from soldier's perspectives. RYCHE ON!

  • @MasterJokoth aaah ok i see now thanks man

  • @MasterJokoth Well, take a listen to the song, read the lyrics and you'll see why they said that. Keep in mind this song was from the Reagan era...Reagan was not a hero. You know that Bin Laden bogey man? Well... Reagan and his Conservative cronies funded, trained and armed Bin Laden and the Mujahadeen.

Also the comment about the White House is in regards to 'The Haves' and 'The Have Nots' .... Like today, 2% of Americans control 90% of it wealth. Lets tip the power balance...

  • HEY... HEY... listen to me!!! lol

  • wow im not realy a queensryche fan but this song is awesome

  • Theres always a gr8 band whos so underrated. See their show and see why they are killer live.

  • best guitar solo dance +100

  • great song, great band but wtf??lame shirt for Geof!

  • such a POWERFUL SONG about everything that is wrong with the merging of the corporate world with the government. How could they have had such insight 20+ years ago?? true genius.

  • All politics aside, how many bands and pieces of musical art would have died out if not for "Unauthorized" fan uploads to Youtube and other sites. Seeing some og the videos I used to bang my head to when I was in high school just reminds me that I need to replace these albums - so therefor they will get my money again because this music is the life's blood of American culture and the foundation of some of my most cherished memories.

  • What about the facsicts? The right wing+ get a grip ppl. Its a political song.

  • @109Thunder What a retard! You dont even know what fascism is

  • The extremes of both sides suck... in fact, politics in its entirety sucks when democracy isin't really democracy.

  • awesome song thank ya

  • THE PAIN YOU FEEL!!!!

  • death angel with a gun... brilliant.

  • zajebiste połączenie solo z riffem !

  • For me, this song is like foreplay... Holee poopmonger! haha! The way he sings "Speak to me! The pain you feel!".... /dreamy sigh

  • GOOD SONG!!

  • i love this album as it practically stood the test of time. i think in Revolution Calling, you can just replace one word (Communist), and the song holds true. supposedly, this album is fiction/sci-fi, but sometimes you wonder when you hear the anger in the lyrics if it wasn't encoded to mean something else.

  • They seem to be STUCK in FORMULA!

Frenetic Heavy Metal is to me an Unfortunate Waste of a probably good band's innate talent

    for seemingly insightful lyrics.

Please show me (with clear analysis)

that I am wrong about them?

This is coming from an aging Jefferson Airplane fan, looking for a modern version of them.

    Any ideas?

  • Lol....music is a personal thing, if you don't like Queensryche, don't listen. But just because this song seems "frenetic" doesn't mean that all Queensryche is such. Queensryche is probably the most melodic metal band of all time, you need to hear more. Music is also cultural as well as generational. Jefferson Airplane, to me at least, sounds ridiculously dated and other than White Rabbit, most of it sounds like a bad movie soundtrack. Why would you want a modern version of that?

  • I get hard when I hear "we'll burn the white house down." This is a great song but this entire album is amazing, probably in my top 15 of all-time.

  • Let's tip the power balance and tear down their crown, educate the masses, we'll burn the White House down...

  • One of the greatest songs of the 1980's.

  • I really can't believe a lot of people have written here in the comments, as if Queensrÿche ever held any Republican beliefs. This song, and entire Operation: Mindcrime album was written out of anger and hatred towards the Reagan Era. The majority of their political stuff is Left-leaning.

  • i dont think queensryche is dumb enough to believe int he left vs right illusion. If they hated the reagan era they must hate the obama era just as much.

"ERADICATE THE FASCIST! REVOLUTION WILL GROW!" Obama is fascist as shit....just look at all our tax dollars he sends to private offshore banks.

  • Obama is a barely left-of-center Democrat, despite what the crazies and talking head gasbags would have you believe. I didn't vote for him, but the idea that he's a Fascist is ridiculous. The only real Fascist thing about our gov't is the insane amount of power wielded by corporations. This isn't any fault of Obama's, as this country has danced to the corporate fiddle for well over a hundred years now. Anyway, Queensrÿche (at least Tate and DeGarmo) is pretty well known for being left-wing.

  • Please! The man so far has stolen power from congress by announcing the government will back the warranties of both GM & Chrysler(a huge new expense)without any legislative approval, he is trying to control the internet(internet 2), He is trying to take away our guns, the list goes on and on ...he so far has more power than any president we have ever had...how is he not fascist?

  • 1. The Executive Branch of government possess so much power now as a result of the Bush administration seizing it with little opposition. Congress could have stopped it if they had wanted to.

    2. Only countries like China control and restrict the internet. If we get to the point when the internet is subject to censorship, it'll already be to late to do anything.

    3. I've not heard anything about Obama wanting to take away guns. Gun control is one of the few Dem stances he's left alone.

  • You havnt heard of it but the information is out there if you look for it. Congress did nothing because they were paid off by the highest bidders. Obama is continuing the madness of Bush. Obama's label of "democrat" does not mean shit. If America had any sense and looked into who they vote for instead of eating up what the maintreem media feeds them(democrat vs republican soap opera)Ralph nader would of been president and all these thugs in our system just may have been prosecuted.

  • There is a good video on youtube you can watch that does a good job of explaining the madness of our system and current puppet in command. It's called 'The fall of the republic" look it up on youtube.

  • Nader is actually who I voted for. Go figure. Unfortunately someone like him will never get elected, as you said, because of the system. I really don't feel it's quite as bad a you do though. Something must be done, yes, but it takes time and willingness from not just the public, but at least *some* of those in power. There's no other way, realistically.

  • @necromancer1989

    Try Australia too!

Re: 2. Only countries like China control and restrict the internet.

  • tup they are all on the same fucking page.need a party for the people.

  • First of all, "hair metal" isn't a genre. It's called glam metal. The Poison and Nelson shit from the latter part of the 80s? That's POP metal. GLAM metal is Motley Crue's first two albums, Twisted Sister, etc. It's traditional heavy metal with pop influenced hooks. The metal sensibilities are prominent in the tracks, much unlike Poison. Have I mentioned I hate Poison?

Anyway, Queensryche is the first progressive metal band, paving the way entirely. :)

  • Actually lots of people would consider Fates Warning to be the first prog metal band (chronologically), but you're making the right point. Fates Warning, Dream Theater and Queensryche are all prog metal pioneers, Queensryche differing more from the other two IMO.

Unfortunately they haven't lasted as well as Dream Theater, but every album up to (and including) Empire I just adore, some of the best prog metal out there, period.

  • Actually, the prog bands from the 70s predate the prog bands from the 80s. They all sucked too.

  • However oosakinana said progressive *metal* band, hence Fates Warning were the first successful prog metal band, not the first prog band.

There were plenty of good prog bands from the 70s anyway, eg Yes and ELP- however they're not everyone's cup of tea.

  • Your wrong actually, Fates Warnings first demo came out in 1984....a year before that Queensryche had already released their self titled Ep.

  • Ahh ok that sounds right, wasn't 100% sure on the specifics.

I know that The Warning came out in 1984, that certainly would've been the time prog metal started gaining momentum.

  • Thank you. =)

I have loved this band my entire life.

  • "(P) 2007 Capitol Records, Inc.. All rights reserved. Unauthorized reproduction is a violation of applicable laws' $#$ wtf is that?? Seed up folks!!! :)))

  • Some lines in this song really stand out for what we are going through in our country/government today.

"eradicate the fascists revolution will grow-

educate the masses we'll burn the white house down"

Maybe thats what things are coming to here in America. Maybe its time we throw the "change" out the door. I dont want my country to be the United Socialist States of America. I want my country back.

  • As far as I'm concerned, USA is heading for the right way, finally.

educate the masses means: educated people can think for themselves and are not blind, dumb-ass followers of any sicko telling them what to do. So: eradicate the fascists.

  • It wont be the socialist states of America ...much worse I believe .... each state will be broken up and controlled from a central world bureaucracy, like every other state in the world. You will be a number, a commodity and when you out live your usefulness you will be terminated.

  • @ZX2ManDave - Wake up, it's not the socialists you need to worry about. It's the corporations -- AKA our capitalist heroes -- that are robbing future generations of funding they'll need to have a decent quality life. Our top five banks have trillions of dollars in toxic assets that will need future bailouts. The welfare queen has nothing on Goldman Sachs.

  • @MrBigwong

Oh yes, guys like Mao Tse Tung are just sweethearts, big old Teddy Bears who take care of their people. And dont forget the Nazi Party, they were socialist as well. They never hurt anyone.

  • @ZX2ManDave - The Nazis were socialists, really? If I recall they were more about spreading death than spreading wealth.

  • @ZX2ManDave Are you an idiot? Despite the name, the National Socialist party was a RIGHT-WING organization that Hitler was sent to spy on because the Weirmar Republic suspected it was communist. When Hitler realized the truth, he joined the party. And the rest (literally) is HISTORY!!!!

  • @AvengingAngel777

Starting out your post with calling someone a idiot shows where your mentality and maturity is.

Regardless, if you dont see the ties between what Obama is trying to force upon America with what past dictators have tried to force upon other countries then you must be blind. They all started out promising "change"-and boy did they ever deliver it.

  • @ZX2ManDave

Au Countriere! I merely ASKED if you were an idiot. Your imagination did the rest.

Don't try to cloud the issue with anti-Obama statements. Stay on topic. You claimed the Nazis were socialists; any rudimentary student of history would know that they were about as left-wing as the Ku Klux Klan.

  • @AvengingAngel777 that is only partially correct in Europe they would be considered rigtht wing, but here in the US they would still be left wing. Let's look at what happened. He nationalized banks and businesses, nationalized healthcare and started the Hitler youth. the Nazi's were socialist.

  • @AvengingAngel777 All of the conservatives I know believe in a small central government and the rights of the individual. Where as the Nazi's believed in a strong central government. in Europe there aren't any parties with power that are what would be right wing in the US but communism, socialism and fascism all believe in a strong central government and little individual rights.

  • @silkshadowdragon Fascism is right-wing, whether you believe it or not. I think what we are REALLY talking about are the extreme-wings on either side. That's when things get blurred.

I see no real extremism in our current central government, though it was getting iffy there during Bush 2. That's why we have checks and balances.

  • @silkshadowdragon You must have conservatism confused with libertarianism.

  • Research who this song was written about!!!

  • @ZX2ManDave There is no perfect system, but it's about time we throw those thiefs out and make the world for everyone, not a few wealthy people who pull the strings and fuck everything up as long as they can earn money for their yachts and what else... Trampling on others because they supposedly lazy is just greed and need for power. They trashed and trashing this planet, because of their so called great need of having more and more belongings.

  • @ZX2ManDave AMEN brother!

  • @ZX2ManDave COMPLETELY AGREE©

  • @ZX2ManDave

You know this song came out in 1988 back when Reagan was in the White House, right?

  • @ZX2ManDave well, man Socialism isnt bad.

  • one of their best songs...and someone brings up hairspray?? hahaha go check out pantera BEFORE cowboys from hell heh

  • "Eradicate the fascist"

    "let's tip the power balance,

    and tear down the crown,

    educate the masses,

we'll burn the White House down"

  • the prophets of metal... and wow what a drum set >.>

  • 2:06-2:11 is the best . i've never heard better compilaction of riff and solo

PS Chrid DeGarmo looks a bit like Marty Friedman in this video

  • They werent hair metal ..Hair metal is for pussies

  • It's early prog metal (or late prog rock), imho. They were ahead of their times :P

  • Comment removed

  • HAIR metal band?! I am personally offended.

  • Come on, :) this group totally screams the 80s and hairspray and power chords, they were just light years ahead of all those other hair groups and eventually evolved into their own sound and style. Not to mention hair metal isn't totally a bad thing, I mean a lot of those hair metal bands are much better than all that emo crap that has come out in this latest generation.

  • yeah yeah yeah...but they ditched the hairspray after '89.

I'd actually argue that they evolved INTO a 'hair metal' sound on Mindcrime and Empire after starting out with a more NWOBHM sound on the EP and Warning (even if the hair was big anough to smother a small child), then back out and into a real progressive vibe on Promised Land.

  • No matter how many ways you look at it their a feakin awesome band! And right up there in my top ten.

  • Definitely agree with the first bit, but as for being in the Top 10?...I Challenge you to name 9 superior bands.

  • yes Queensryche is and always will be a phenomenal band

  • @immortalsoloist

This must have been written before the dumb ass cabaret tour

  • dude everyone knows that Queesnryche was a Progressive Rock/Metal band they are so not hair metal.

    Cheers.

  • Speak!!!!!

  • First time hearing this song i used to listen to their greatest hits but now im goin to listen to all of them!

  • speak the word are you all listening? The greatest lyrics ever written! wake up and feel the music.

  • Those are lyrics that speak to your soul, and not just your ears.

  • haha dont get me wrong, i've been listening to queensryche ever since i was in my mom's belly in '91, but they are wayyy wayy much better live then in the recording studio/ there regular videos. Operation Livecrime in madison was amazing!<3

  • I saw them in 1991 on the empire tour. They played Livecrime in it's entirety then. It was my first real show. Suicidal Tendencies was good too!

  • I Was there too awesome light show right? R U from Denver?

  • Dear God, some of you people commenting here are a bunch of FN FREAKS!!!!!! queensryche is a great band that makes great music........can you just not enjoy it for what it is. If you want to make political blogs about bullshit that you CANT CHANGE anyway, then go to some political blog bullshit site. Damn you guys are freaks!!!!!!!!!! by the way this is their best song!!!

  • This and operation mind crime is about MK-ULTRA and the media brainwashing of certain people that make them do suicidal things, which is used as a pretext for government to clamp down.

  • Revolution is just another iteration of the cycle... oligarchs fall, to be replaced by a new class of oligarchs, possibly worse than before.

  • the more I listen the more I Like. Speak the word. The word is all of us. You are being influenced by our political figures. Learn inform yourself. There is various information. You have no Idea what is going on behind the scenes. I'll get a file by the CIA after this comment. If you are true and honest for a cause speak out.

  • best song forever and ever my theam song hahahahaaaaaa... !

  • did he borrow his fuckin outfit from bruno?

  • Fuck yea. This is by far the best work they have done this whole album was so good and I havent heard anything so bone chilling since.

  • One of the most powerful albums of the 80s. "Speak" was always my favorite track on Mindcrime and still sounds fresh and inspiring today. Its too bad most people associate them with "Silent Lucidity" This was their masterpiece

  • The liberals in the House just took the first step in completely destroying the middle class, today. The Senate won't stop it. the present will sign it into law. Our government won't support freedom in Iran, and will take the property of its own citizens without remorse. America is dead; revolution calling.

  • @grunt1966 Revolution, more like another civil war -- Federalists vs State(s)

  • Comment removed

  • what happened to queensryche's dark side. E.P. and the warning are my favorite albums. If they would come out with a dark themed album, they could take those Emo death metal punks out of the music buisness!!

  • wow,you r so fucking stupid

  • Did you really just put emo and death metal in the same generalization? Really?

  • idk but they just resently put out a new album

havent really got to hear it

  • The system needs flushed, We need to clean out the white house, the Un and Eu inside out and eliminate the Corrupted officals.

Obama is not corrupt, just because he's young people think he'll mess up. there is one other president who was young and changed this country, his name was Kennedy!

  • The problem with politicians is they want to run everyone's lives and make decisions for everyone. Healthcare reform, Economy reform it's all there man. Obama, Bush, they're just faces for every politician. The government is going to bankrupt this country because they can "fix" every problem we have. Then we switch to one world currency, and one world government. Then, the end of the world.

  • This is one of my favorite songs.

Obama is listening, you can believe him, he loves you. Sure.

  • Obama is not as bad as the fucking republican party.

Screw the republicans, and anyone who thinks i'm wrong!

  • Obama is a disaster. The best advice I could give him is to sit tight and for god sakes don't touch anything. Don't spend any more money. Don't give any more speeches to terrorist nations. Just smile for the camera and the Republicans will be there in 2012

  • obama is fixing our problem!

G.W. BUSH IS THE FUCKING DISASTER YOU DUMBASS!

the government is playing you like a puppet. they want a black man to be George bush's fall guy.

You should be blaming George bush.

He's the one who fucked everybody over.

  • Obama isn't fixing anything. N. Korea is testing nukes more frequently now and are unafraid of our president because they know he wont go to war. The fact that he embraces Muslims more than the Brittish should make you scared. How is George Bush a disaster? Why should I blame him?

  • Kinda funny how NK refrained from these frequent tests when GW was in office.

  • @MastoidPress How is George Bush a disaster? 9/11 and Iraq, all for some fucking oil

  • @zartanhatesyou Yes, because Bush somehow inadvertently caused 9/11, and Al-Qaeda and Iraq are TOTALLY related -_-... It's ignorant douchebags like you that are dragging this world down...

  • @PrimalLight2323 You really think Bush and people within his administration had nothing to do with 9/11? You must be one of the few people left that still believes everything the Government and the media tells them. The fact is its sheepish retards like yourself that are destroying this country and letting the Government do what ever it wants. That’s what this song is about - speak the truth, something the Government and media have a hard time doing. WAKE UP

  • @MastoidPress You must remember. A lot of the problems we have started with BUSH and Presidents before. You can't trust any one of them. They are all politicians with their own agendas and special interest groups. Don't become blinded, educate yourself. Plus the Bush family has been dirty since they came off the MAYFLOWER.

  • I wonder if they could lend me some talent?

  • Good God...there never has been and never will be a band like Queensryche...noone can equal Geoff Tate's range, power, and delivery...noone can replicate their clean, yet powerful sound...their deep introspective lyrics. Man, I wanna bring good music like this back - todays music sucks!

  • agreed 100%

  • @richiebeegood :) I almost agree but: #1 Floyd #2 ryche

  • @evilmboard OK...but you don't have to be high to listen to Queensryche LOL!

  • @richiebeegood :) :) :) :) I thought I was the only one that listened to Pink Floyd with a nice "cigar" ;)

  • @evilmboard LOL! ssshhhhh! don't tell!

  • Operation Mindcrime was a fucking masterpiece in my opinion....Revolution Calling,I dont Believe In Love,Speak...classic!!

  • It almost could be said that Mindcrime was too damn good for the band. How could they ever equal it or top it again? They came close with Empire, but since then every album they have released just has not came close. Its not that they are now making bad music, its more that Queensryche will always be remembered for Mindcrime. Every CD they do will always be compared to it. People always want their next album to be better than the last, and sadly sometimes its just not possible.

  • Queensryche was good up to operation mindcrime after that they became more commercial more mainstream.Dont get me wrong i love them up to mindcrime but after that they fell off.

  • This album is unreal,no one else has the balls to make an album like this.Brilliant.I can listen to it forever and never get sick of it.

  • best damn vocalist around those days and still bellowing out the songs. Too bad the line-up changed. My favorite QR album by far, although, Empire runs a close second and sometimes it takes over first place depending on my mood. Yeah, that's it, both albums kick ass...

    \m/

  • Sean Connery would have made a great Dr. X.

  • I remember when Chris DeGarmo and Geoff Tate premered this video on MTV's Headbangers Ball!!

  • No shit!! Sin pajas!!!

  • Fuck, all the wasted years without this band.

  • Good Lord. Look at that Trailer Trash hair!

  • Brilliant song from a masterpiece album. This is one of the greatest albums of all time, and is vastly underrated.

  • totally agree. This was one of the best albums of all times.

  • Absolutly the best album of that decade!!

  • Easily my favorite song off OMC and possibly my favorite by Queensryche.

  • Very cool tune. I think the riff in the verse is one of the most sinister heavy riffs I have ever heard. Its fast and moody and subdued with its palm mutes. Fantastic riff. Very cool band.

  • this and eyes of a stranger are probably my favorite songs on the OMC album...still cant wait for the movie

  • is there going to be a movie?

  • yeah actually there is so i hear, big rumor on the internet and i have queensryche on my friends list on myspace, they were saying stuff about OMC being a movie

  • "Deathly to my cause, SPEAK TO ME... The Pain you feel."

    Godd times, good times indeed.

  • deadly to my cause!!!!
