Wow, that is a good iMac, I have the 700mhz G4 and still use as a downstairs secondary mac. My imac c2d would smoke it but I still love it. Good video and I am getting a wd green 720gb soon.

@ThisIsAdamB Not sure if you can answer this just yet, but would you consider a Drobo to be a suitable solution for a NAS? I assume one could simply connect it to a networked machine and use it as storage over the network.

@fswmacguy That's what I plan on doing with it. Either hang it off my Airport Extreme or attach it to my mini and leave that running File Sharing. Drobo administration would be easier on the mini, come to think of it....

I'm a big fan of the iMac G4, I have one at the bottom of my bed to run EyeTV and whatever other media software. Would be nice if I could have Plex on there to but ah well. One question, how quietly does yours run? i know running EyeTV is no mean feat but I've got the 1.25GHz G4 but only 256mb of ram so I think an upgrade is in order to make it run quieter. Again, happy birthday Adam!

@dfoggin It's a good machine, but I don't use it for much. I just acquired it and wiped out the hard drive, and I'm only using it as a utility Mac for the moment while I get the Drobo set up. Once I'm done with this project, I'll be selling it.

When I was using it to help my stepfather with projects, it always worked well and I never noticed the fan running, before or after upping the RAM.

But, yeah, put as much memory into yours as you can. It'll help with whatever you want to run on it.
