Erica took her mother and for granted, and frankly was downright abusive towards her. I don't think they had a healthy relationship at all. Mona turned a blind eye to Erica's sickening vanity and self obsession and I think the best kind of mother refuses to allow her child to be spoilt and self-entitled.

i miss their relationship! it was so real! erica treated her mama so badly--it was hilarious! but, her mama was always there for her because she knew she really needed her anyway.

No wonder Phoebe's hailed by fans and experts alike as a classic AMC character...even in her biggest detractor's death does the woman poise much sophistication to even nearly throw herself atop her nearby coffin. The writing team's class, combined with Ruth's elegant diction, illustrated just precisely one of many reasons why AMC continues as a TV success/icon.

Ruth Warrick was such a class act. Phoebe, Langley, Myrtle, Mona, Ruth, Joe...these are characters that should never be taken for granted. The current regime at ABC daytime does, and it's not right. This was a treat back in the day.
