Regardless of whether you believe in astrology or not (I only read it for amusement of to have a laugh with people) but regardless of your belief in it, do you think that very soon we will either conclusively prove or disprove the existence of a divine being(s).
I'm agnostic, NOT atheist but currently feel closer to atheism than religiousity...but as long as the answer creates a positive change for humans, I would be fascinated by the answer either way...
I don't really think astrology has much merit, and so I don't really think that 2012 will signify any catastrophe, but since this is the "information age" and depending on which astrological calendar you believe, we have started or about to start the Age of Aquarius - meant to signify an universal change in human society and knowledge...also the end of Pisces the age where piety is very strong.
The language can be misleading, to humans, but our responses are predictable and programmable; perhaps there are those 1 / 10 million who can fool anyone with their micro-emotive control, most people cannot. It may be obvious, but the implications are not as clear.
This could assist cctv-based crime control, now / in the future. Fascinating really. Perhaps a little daunting as well.
@16242T in both traditions, science and religion, it is only as open-ended as the minds of the people teaching it. science at least has a highly standardized and understood aspect of open-endedness called the scientific method. it is the product of a more intellectually developed age than any major religion.

ive stopped about a 3rd or the way threw cause this guy keeps bringing up darwin like hes infatuated with the guy, does he know that darwine was also a white supreamist who thought the anglo saxon race was more evolved than the other "mongrel races" but i'll give this a chance and finish it
Jefferson owned slaves, yet he was a key figure in gaining our freedoms. MLK jr plagiarized his masters thesis and slept around on his wife, yet we recognize him as a great civil rights leader. Gandhi was a terrible father, yet we think of him as a great peace leader.
So what if Darwin was a racist? I agree that's a flaw, but it does not detract from what he is considered great for: the Theory of Evolution by natural selection.
Darwin was a great man, and flawed like the rest of us.
actually the "theory of evolution" is talking about man evolving from apes which hasnt been proven hence the missing link. Evolution isnt a theory animals do evolve which he pioneered the discovery but his work has been twisted to make people think that one day an ape woke up with intelect and a sense of morality. how you like them apples lol
I don't know when you were educated in school, but the "missing link" has long been known. There are dozens of examples, and that's excluding the finds of Neanderthals.
Although Ida was sensationalised and was not the best candidate for Our evolutionary path, it does indicate very lucidly the path we pobably took.
Also, I really don't think everyone has an "inbuilt" sense of morality.
Intelligence and morality don't evolve suddenly. They evolve slowly over millions of years if not longer.
If your disbelief in human evolution is based on a supposedly "sudden" emergence of intelligence and morality, then I'm afraid your disbelief is entirely baseless.
The theory of evolution does not say we evolved from apes. It says that we evolved from earlier hominids.
We are one, very special and valuable species of animal.
And it is true. One day, a hominid woke up with intellect and a sense of morality. Actually, we can see the roots of intellect and morality in lower animals around us today.
Creationism will not get you very far these days.
A wise religionist will view Darwin's theory as insight in to how God created human beings.
"One day, a hominid woke up with intellect and a sense of morality"
This is actually not completely true :) A single individual didn't wake up with intellect and morality. This must have collectively with many many individuals, a population in other words. Remember, evolution doesn't happen in large scale in one individual. It happens in large scales with a whole population of individuals, creating a new species over time.
@freesk8 i dont know where he said they were "less evolved" because there isnt really anything more evolved, would you give me the quote or point me where i could find it. also im sure your aware that he might have thought that but he wasnt a racist, he criticized his people for enslaving and killing tribal people
Darwin first thought up the idea of evolution, which is an excellent and extremely well proven scientific theory to explain how organisms are complex.
As for his "white supremacy", someone has been lying to you because he actually found profound modesty in knowing that all modern humans took the same evolutionary path, especially noble in a time where 99% of Britons/Europeans were racist because it was deemed acceptable.

While I accept this as a valid test - at least superficially - I think it is also a poor one. I would never do that to Maya, and she would never do it to me.
why is he soo insecure of what he is saying?
or is it just the american english that you have to pause after every word?

OMG this is fascinating.
But what came first?
The notion or state of reverence or the "small, submissive" position which signifies it?
Did we invent god rather than the other way around?

Why was this part of the video the part that was clipped?
This is all so obvious.
Body language can also be misleading, such as a naturally more tight/dominating body

WTF? when was he a raciest?

There are several passages in Darwin's writings that suggested that he thought that blacks and other races were less evolved than whites.
Darwin was wrong about this, and we should forgive him for his antiquated views.
But we can't ignore them.
And they do not detract from his theory of evolution, which has been confirmed in tens of thousands of ways.

I have not been told that before and did not see it in what I have studied of Darwin maybe I should do some deeper digging.

@jbBuckn, I do not seen this in Darwin. He may have hypothesised that Europeans evolved from Africans. Today we know that humanity comes from Africa.
Everyone is just as evolved in their own way.
But even in this context, the idea of superiority is not a scientific one.
'Superior peoples' is a religious concept, it requires a good superior and an evil inferior to compare itself to.
In science there is no such comparison, things just are part of Nature, to be described and understood.
