Hey, I'm looking at a Kel-Tec SU16c. I'm in college and can't afford an Ar-15 (budget's tight). In your opinion, is this gun worth it? I'm reading a lot of good things about the accuracy and durability. You sold it for an ar15, so was it just not worth it?Thanks a bunch!
@woodynum86x It's a great gun, easier to clean than an AR and upgradable. I sold it for an AR because I wanted a real AR with all the bells and whistles. It would of cost me $140 to upgrade the Kel-Tec to a pistol grip, so sold it for $720 and bought an AR stripped lower receiver for $100 and got a complete upper with all Magpul furniture for $606 shipped from Del-Ton. So I recommend the Kel-Tec, but if you have a little more you can build an AR. It's your choice on what you want as upgrades etc
@jcainmc Thank you! Really helps a lot. I shoot the Ar15 in the Army and its a great gun. Expensive to maintain (parts) but is awesome. Thanks a bunch for your reply
@shotgunsurgeon23 Should work fine as it accepts all AR mags and has same clearance for the mag well as the AR15. Just sold this Kel-Tec over the weekend and decided to build a custom AR15 with black and olive drab as the color scheme. Video to come in a few weeks, take care.
I would like to know how accurate your rifle is. It's one of the alternatives to the Ar that can be used to hunt with in Canada. Thanks for the video. I appreciate it.
@nobull60 Very accurate, same as an AR which means even better accuracy if you use more expensive ammo. Good choice if you cant afford or own a standard AR platform, the Kel-Tec gets less dirty than a standard AR also.
you can add the pistol grip and get a sidefolding adapter for your telescoping stock. Folds to the left side, pistol grip and still fits in your bug out bag.
@jcainmc His stock blows and he has the alpha but this shows you can do it. Brings it a lot closer to the ar but if back pack capablites are your main concern its definitely worth it. You have to but the PLR pistol grip though. You can call kel tec to find out what adapter if any is te specific one that works or if any will do. I want to pair it with the Magpul CTR. If you look good you can find a replacement steel qhadrail forend.
@onehitkill The gun has a standard AR front post sight and a ghost ring in the rear to line up with. I chose the Kel-Tec for three reasons: A) Price, it was only about $620 locally. B) Upgrading, ability to upgrade to many choices and low price of parts from the manufacturer C) Spring action carbine, burns cleaner than standard AR platform and easier to clean/maintenance.
These are great weapons! Good before and after video. I will do one of my won for sure in a couple of weeks. You should look into a better optic. One of the most important aspects of your weapon is the optic you choose. These guns are capable of reaching out a good distance if the optics are right. I would rather have a kick-ass weapon than a bad-ass one anyday.
@scubaguy007 Yeah if you read my description I got rid of the China clone sight! I have put on my Bushnell 3-9x40mm scope for now until I get something better. I added the front handguard grip also....huge improvement with that grip!
Awesome rifle. I don't quite side with your choice of magazine, but if everyone wanted the same thing from their weapon the world would be a little more boring. Glad to hear you moved away from Commiefornia!
@jcainmc I would prefer one that didn't interfere with the functionality of the folding stock. I understand the visual aspect, but functionality is more important.
Congrats, very nice mods.

I think kel tec putting the "bipod" on the su16 is like swiss army putting the tooth pick in their knives. Thanks but no thanks.
thejmeister88 1 year ago
@thejmeister88 Agreed!
jcainmc 1 year ago
@thejmeister88 Moot point when you don't have to deploy the hand guards as a bipod or you can just replace the hand guards with a rail setup.
