Amazing creatures. Thanks a million for taking the time to compose and to share. I searched this video due to further learning for a Biology class i am presently taking. I am familiar with Betas having owned them singly, never in pairs.

I did not realize they bred in such a way that the male played such a pro-active role, very intriguing.

And the whole fact that he places the eggs singly into interior portions of bubbles is something new to me. I had never heard or read of this before.

@tjrouge When me and my friend researched and bred our betta fish it showed most of the time the male WILL chase the female around. Once in a while the female will accept without a fight but if a female dose get a bit battered and hurt I would not be suprised. It's just regular mating for the betta.

Nope! A good number of fish need filters because it circulates the air so they can breathe, but Bettas are known as "surface breathers," meaning they get their air by swimming up to the surface and taking in oxygen.

In the case of betta fish, filters aren't necessary, but they make cleaning the bowl/tank much easier.

naw. males are the ones with the really poofy tails. also, they have those flaps near their gills that flare up when they see a female. Female betta fish don't have those flaps.

Yes they need to be separated. Only females can live with other female bettas. Males can not live with other males unless you have a huge tank. Males can't live with females. After they are bred the female is taken out so the male can guard the eggs. If the female is left in the male will hurt her while guarding the eggs.

all you have to do is get some hay or grass(hay works better)put it in a jar with water and a little bit of air and leave it in a window for 3-4 days hoped these helped

first when the male is done taking the eggs out the female u take the girl out and leave him with the eggs then when the eggs hatch and the babys are swiming u take the father out from there on u have to feed the babies baby brine shrimp or microworms or infuzoria if u kno how to make them and yes u can leave the baby there o r move them to another tank if u want

I think you're supposed to put the female in a container in the male's tank (10 gal) for one week to allow him to get ready. When he has a nice sized nest then release the female.
