Oh my gosh, his face at 5:16 is hilarious! You can tell that he totally remembered that story! He's like "oh crap, I told everyone about this...dang..."
It was aired around November 11, those are poppies that are meant to be worn around Remembrance Day to show respect for the soldiers of WWI and beyond. ...Actually, I'm not sure if it's called Remembrance Day in the UK, but that's what the poppies are worn for.
it is called remeberance day here in the UK. or amestice day or poppy day are used too. but its mostly called rememberance day. we have two days for it. the 11th of November and the closest sunday too it, which is Remberance Sunday
the idea of a poppy comes from the poppys that would grow on the hasty graves of the dead in war. they would spred lime over the graves (i don't remember why) and poppys liking the lime in the soil would grow in abundance.
@MysteriouslyMichele As you know we do wear the yellow ribbons for our soldiers who are staioned abroad. However, we also wear poppies. the poppies are handed out to people who donate money to help our vets and during certain military rememberence events. I believe this started not long after WWI.
@MysteriouslyMichele It is possible that you have ot seen many people wearing them if you do not live in an area which supports a military base. I also live in the Northern US, but as we have a base in our state, the poppies are common.
@egsafety "Great song...great voice...and a sexy backing singer...who is she?¿" excuse me? i dont know what your talking about? the singer on the show? she is called Alison Moyet. its in the description. lol
She could be using a lot of reverb and one of those digital harmoniser things, but it's probably just a backing track that's only been half-arsedly covered up.
You made my night, David John McDonald.

@Tamashi88 : i think poppies are a british thing though. I'm not sure... European atleast.

@darkpassenger09
They are not just a Europian thing.
I live in Canada and we wear poppys to remember.
I also know that some places in northern United States has the Poppy as well.

@Tamashi88 : Awh well Canada is understandable being a british colony. Didn't think America had the poppy...hmmm. ahwell

Amarica was also a colony. not as long as we are.

@Tamashi88 I'm from Northern america, and I was wondering what they are too. We have ribbons, but I've never seen a poppy.

@MysteriouslyMichele
hmm... maybe what i have seen northern Amaricans wearing was really a ribbon... and i just thought they were poppies 'cause that's what i am used to.
Tamashi88 1 year ago
@Tamashi88 I am from the US and we wear poppies also. US veterans will also hand them out when you donate.
