Katra uses a different vocal style than the first album. In the first album she sang like a "opera style and technic", but on the new album's melodies are more "pop style", and she used suitable technic for the songs. She's an artist and she has the ability to change the style that fits the new songs.

I came to listen a bit to some songs after some friends told me about this band. What I see is so much potential, but something about the vocals just lack. They aren't bad, but they aren't special either. :/

Reading through the comments I see that this is not the way she has always sung and previous albums may be better. I'm curious and I will definitely check those out.

But yes from someone who knows nothing about the band to me it is not bad, but not special either.

What ever happened to Katra's voice?? can anyone tell me? on her first album her voice was extremelly powerful!!! Bombastic! and now... It seems like Jewel's voice, Avril Lavinge's voice (I'm not saying their voices are any bad) But Katra used to have a totally different sound on her album. Maybe producers told her to soften her voice a bit. If you haven't yet, I highly recommend you guys to listen to her first album and then compare. You'll notice the difference.

Her voice seems higher pitched but weaker overall. Kind of reminds me of the change in Tarja's vocals from Wishmaster to Century Child. =/

Katra doesn't have that "fragile angelic soprano" voice that so many covet. Her voice is deeper and more powerful, but that doesn't mean what she does do well is bad. Rather than trying to imitate someone else's vocal type she should stick to her own, IMO.
