  • I WANT THIS TUNE ! It's seeping into my utmost desires.

  • yo the patterns are untouchable! and we still drool all over this. wake up boards we want more already!!

  • @chukees69 apparently there's a new album on the way and may be a double album : )

  • there's an actual name for it though

  • This song just sends you to another place.

  • 2012 should be the year of new Boards of Canada.

  • goddamn, if this song would be released in an album with good studio quality, it would be so good. boc has to release something already!!!! :(

  • can they please release that track now? :(

  • This is really great!

  • Please change the song name to Spiro 'Live'.

  • love this track :) By the way, the name of it is "Spiro"

  • I think I have listened to this song 5 times in row repeated for the past week :)

  • does anyone know what synths/programs they use?

  • @djteq9

lots of old analog hardware synths. they've never mentioned specifically which ones though if you do some reading on classic synths they probably are using Roland Juno's, Roland Jupiter 80's and other expensive classic synths of that sort. They specifically shy away from using virtual software synths and prefer to use hardware, record it, and then use computer programs like Logic purely to manipulate and sequence. They don't like to use software for effects or processing.

  • @djteq9

They don't use programs. They use organic sounds that they record and manipulate into melodies. They also use a ton of analog gear/synths and hardware, guitars and flutes. They are not fond of computers. Half the stuff you hear in their songs aren't even synths.

  • i didnt think they ever played live...hmm lucky ppl who were there...

  • @juggz79 they used to play live a lot. :( But I was too little and grew up on "hip-hop" to know what electronic music was.

  • "o-m-g what is this weird ass noise? hey mister deeejay, put on some van buren so me and my girlfriends can paaaartay!"

  • @ajre82 if youre doing a joke its lame

if you mean it fuck off^^

  • @528freddy

it's not a joke, it's an actual quote from someone. fuck u too

  • @ajre82 If you want music to party to then don't listen to that van buren shit. Listen to Vibrasphere, that's some tight shit you go crazy to, check out the song "Erosion", fuck me it's good!

Btw, Boards of Canada is amazing. Smoke a joint and put som BoC on, it's fuckin unbelievable. Try "Peacock Tail" or "Olson", great stuff. I agree with you on this song, it's not that good, but check out those songs.

  • @BadassSnowman This song is excellent in my opinion.

  • @ajre82 are you serious?

  • this makes me feel like a particle of dust drifting through my pc's insides and passing by the internet's room where everyone's having a party.

  • @AnalogueAbsynth haha nice one very nice

  • B-O-A-R-D-S O-F C-A-N-A-D-A

  • 5:33 lol, "Listen to that stutter! DAYUM!"

  • this is so hi scores

  • love the synth sounds. like a fly over white clouds.

  • OH MEINE GOD.

There is no words, only how many unspeakable things I would have done to have been at that event. And those fucking people talking, I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN!

BoC need to make studio magic this year, then take some of their audiophilic love out to the world.

  • What song is this? I would like to search for a non-live version...

  • as bad of a recording as this is I've probably listened to it over 20 times

  • There was a massive power failure half way thru their set, All the music stopped with all the screens going blue with a loud electrical tone. They quickly recovered and things sounded different after, darker.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was deliberate and a message for us 'Not to rely on technology' as one day it may not be here ?

  • @electricbeanbag

Sounds about right, they've made many comments to the effect of moving away from technology as much as possible. No recordings of said 'drop' out there?

  • I was at this Lighthouse gig at the Docklands, London back in 2000, they had a few problems and the stage had to be moved early on in the day from one end right in the middle of the room, It was the most packed gig I've ever been to, like sardines!

When Boards of Canada came on the anticipation was huge, the gig and visuals (which they also do) we're equally great with lots of unreleased music.

  • BOC fans got trolled by warp with the spiro locked groove loooooololol

  • Hey! I think this is in the same style as seven forty seven!

  • holly shit! i've had recuring dreams of those mountains :O

  • Spiro

  • Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin , Autechre and Squarepusher are the elite

  • @blacky23859 Add CLARK to that list and I would agree.

  • i hate that bands keep this material all locked up, and that warp only released three seconds of it. cruel, because that vocal sample is sick...they took telephasic workshop to a whole new level

  • Hope I can get this on some record somewhere. Not live. One of the best tracks I've heard from them. No other artist I know of can create these dreamy audio-landscapes. Need Spiro on CD now, please, thanks! Very nice photo as well! Would be neat to know where it's taken and what grows on those yellow fields. Just curious

  • Spiro? nice nice

  • i think boc likes it when people talk on their music. It adds that extra bit to their atmosphere ... ( why do they use so many samples of talking people else? background talking samples i mean then ... )

  • B E A U TIFUL

  • this song is dope. i love it..

  • But Bitch please! stfu!

  • Wicked contrast, those sounds with those beats, rockin

  • Wish I could have been there, but at least we have youtube!

  • Some people have the rare privilege to attend Boards of Canada live and what do they do ? They chat the whole fucking time !!!

  • @topheecheesecake They probably cant help it. Like the gurning ;)

  • fuuuuucking amazing

  • anyone else hearing the words "Accept" and "A pit of guts" a couple of times in there?

  • I know the randoms having a convo near the end is unment but i really love it tbh. Chatting about houses and art school and stuff. Convos of youth :)

  • This is what going to heaven sounds like

  • Looks like China. I can't be sure. There were a lot of caves there eons ago that collapsed and formed strange looking mountains. This is why Chinese watercolors of mountains look so distinct. They look like this photo for geological reasons. I do want to be sure to say that I'm only pretty sure that this is China. I don't know for sure.

    Peace.

  • I didnt know it weas caves that made those places.

  • @Sadsic It is, if you were tripping balls when you died.

Oh, wait. I remember your name from w___.fm! Your music is fantastic, keep it up!

  • @BarbarossaOp ty for the compliment! i have loads of music in the oven right now =)

  • Where is this crazy landscape from??? please tell me.

  • Then again it might be Thailand.

  • Anyone know where this picture was taken?

  • Comment removed

  • Dude, you rock for uploading these... I'd kill to see BoC live

  • The name of this song is "Spiro". Go to bocpages . org and look at the article for the Lighthouse bootleg to read more about it.

  • Many later muscians in the electronic genre have been influenced by these guys, you have to admit they always pull something uniquely beautiful and dreamlike out of the bag. Kind of like lost memories.

  • I second that, this is priceless

  • Seniarz...you effin rule

  • Gold

  • wow, thanks for the uploads!
