Great knot set-up for tying down objects on a trailer/roof of a car. For example: tying down some kayaks or Christmas tree to the roof of your car. Use this all the time!
Be sure to make the second loop to the slip knot come from the side of the rope that is nearest to the object your looping around, otherwise your slip knot will tighten down on your rope and be hard to untie.
Will send you a video of them next week....I don't want any of the bull that goes with oooh I made that....just call them by the names I gave them and share....tie back....and a drag knot....will send you video next week of them....please send email address for me to send
If you do not know how to tie a Dolly knot I can video it for you and a double Dolly...the two knots you will never find on here or internet and not even in the Ashley book of knots is a fastening knot and a drag knot used for pulling pallets and cages off trailers which never jams or slips...the reason they are not anywhere is because I came up with them especially for this use which no other knot was doing....it is no used by many truckers I have shown it too and passed it on.
@zchuss1 That's right. This is not the famous "truckie's hitch". This one demonstrated here starts with that loop which is hard to undo when there has been tension on the rope for some time, or worse, when the rope has been under tension when wet.
You can make a trucker's hitch without using a directional figure-8 in the middle to create your mechanical advantage. Instead you just use a bight and slip it through a half hitch and apply tension. The half hitch will cinch up on the bight when you apply tension, but after you are done simply loosen the rope and it will fall apart. This is useful if you don't feel like untying the directional figure-8, which could be difficult after it has been placed under much tension.
Don't use this method! Your 'slippery hitch" wont work! as soon as you put tension on it, it will slide into your turn and limit your tensional ability. moreover, when you go to release the assembley it wont be so pretty and wont release right away or any at all. Your close though, just start off with a simple 'eye loop' to thread your turn through. In the future...consult an expert before you go teaching other...that's how people die.....Dick Head!
With many ropes, the "slippery hitch" can squeeze shut under stress, making it hard to untie. To prevent this, make TWO passes through with the bight (loop) when tying the hitch (the "pulley" knot). It takes 2 seconds longer, and eats up a tiny bit more rope, but will always untie.
that second slipery hitch looks like s slipped half hitch to me.. certainly KNOT the same knoat as the first one he called a slippery hitch and of course 3:1 MA minus friction
@az09lawl I like watching clips on You Tube because there are a lot of great well done clips that give wothwhile info or teach a skill . Clips that misinform should be given critical feedback nomatter how well intentioned they were. As far as securing a load this guy has no idea. I'm no expert, but I can tie a proper hitch and know securing a load must be done right for safety You want to see the right hitch technique check out Bikeman 1948 on the subject.
Expert village strikes again,THAT IS NOT A TRUCKIES HITCH.The hitch you use would be impossible to undo quickly if they had been used under heavy load unless you wanted waste the rope and use a knife. That how a girl would tie down a load. A proper truckies hitch uses self gripping twists is completed in less than 10 seconds and can be undone with no effort when the tension is released. Bikeman 1948 shows the correct hitch technique and it is so powerful you can rip a rope apart using it.
@labrat7357 iv seen the knot your talking about and evin thow your right and its better this way is good to mostly for beginers or campers so dont insalt the video couse its not a bad video
Agreed with safeway 56, I may not have been a trucker or have 40 years experience. but ive been an eagle scout for a long time and was taught how to tie that by a logging trucker.
The first "slippery hitch"will tighten up on itself and will not release. Go to my channel for a better version of the "slippery hitch" quite similar but will always release with ease no matter how much tension you put on the Truckers Hitch.
I've seen lots and lots of vids put out by these people, (they are all over) and the one thing I have never seen from them is anyone, that in any way, resembles an EXPERT. If you count on their expert advice or survival info, YOU ARE IN BIG TROUBLE. You will not survive. You tube blocks people for telling the truth about world events, but allows these people to spread BS that could cost you your life. Imagine that!!!!!
the first knot is called assholing,i asked the old man why do you call it that,he says cause only an asshole would tie it that way,he was kinda of mean old guy looking back
Hilarious - actually the way he shows the knot is the probably the first way most people learn this knot - although the correct way is definitely the way to go as it doesn't create a semi permanent loop in the rope.
@Davethemusicmaid actually when I see that it is expert village I always laugh because they always have some goober who doesn't know his arse from a hole in the ground doing the video :)
@ArtisanTony I agree. The "expert village"name reminds me of the corney old joke about an expert being a hasbeen drip under pressure. The use of the word village makes me think that this village seems have more than their fare share of village idiots.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
What a load of crap. I have cut so many ropes because of this knot. It gets tighter with more tension and cant be untied when wet. What a load of bull shit.
I tried this, and noticed when using tightly braided line, like quality prusik cord, it doesn't like to grip well when under tension....this is when I was tryin to tie the holding knot at the end. It did work well when tying it 'fast'. ( meaning secure, for those not up on all the rope jargon...some 'experts' seem to like avoiding defining the words they use )
if you want to tie and untie many times and for quick one hand readjust check out "hitchcraft" videos on youtube. Also will save your rope from abrasion.
hmm. thats pretty good, but i was always told to end it with a taut-line that way if it's loosened, it tightens itself. But yeah, that should work too

thats the hard way to do that knott.. there is a much easier way, where you dont need to thread the left over rope through the whole.
to stop it slipping make the loop at the end long enough to half hitch around

GforceDown 2 years ago
Safeway, you're right. This is not the truckers hitch, this is a slippery loop plus a slippery hitch.
And for you as well as for Cloud9sa:
My way of making this knot is as follows:
first I make a slippery figure of eight loop,
on the loop I make a half hitch to make sure that the loop easily can be untied.
Then I make the loop an connect it with a slippery hitch.
Good luck. (former member of the IGKT)

As a trucker of some 40 years experience may I be so bold as to say that isn't a truckers hitch.
