So what if you have an entire table top with the coating, a layer of mist (probably have to run a fog machine to keep water present) and glide another such surface on top of that? Would it float on the water "beads" or push them out of the way?
A superhydrophobic substance will have a log(octanol/water) coefficient of at least 6 or higher, probably around 8 or higher actually. There are a bunch of substances like this, and if you start with looking at these log(Kow) values you should find your chemicals.

Tacky McSad, I mean Rocky music? PREEEEEEEEEEEE-DICTABLE! Goodness i would have given yous more credit for originiality. Every pseudo-sport of the 'we're cool, honest :\' variety uses it, how very 1997. And it always proves sad. Yep water droplets, hahaha yep they move. great.
Thank you for your measured comments. Unfortunately I fear you have missed the point somewhat (not to mention the irony!) Our soundtrack really is inconsequential when the implications of this technology are considered. I assume you are not familiar with the field of wetting so I'll excuse the "yep they move. great" comment. A quick browse of the 17800 google results for "superhydrophobicity" should go some way to convince you that to a substantial number of people it is, in fact, great.
Sorry for my scathing comments. Had just one too many Rocky theme tunes. I find it endearing, the zeal with which you defend your experiment. I am sure it is impressive.. but entertaining? If you wish to be (YouTube) peer approved then take it from a layman, your experiment is impressive, but choice of soundtrack detracts from it!
actually, i didn't write that because i was convinced of the science; frankly, it bores me. My girlfriend, who studies Chemistry, showed it to me and I judged it on its lameness. Having agreed with me, she affirmed that despite this the science is still impressive and i decided to apologise to the endearing C3PO look-alike for being so harsh. As for "way to use a thesaurus" What are you talking about? I'm a PhD student in English Literature.

You should make a tiny superhydrophobic table top football game. With wee little footballers on sticks.
