確かに、

rusty nail =　錆びた釘　（直訳）

ですが、

のように２つの意味があるのではないでしょうか？

ＨＩＤＥは「爪」の訳を用いて「欠片」につなげ、

カクテルとして表現することで「唇」につなげた。

ＨＩＤＥの卓抜なセンスが見られる１行ですが、

このＳＣＡＲＳの歌詞からも、そしてＭＶアニメに映る無数の爪か­­­­­らも、

“Ｎａｉｌ”に対して釘と爪の両方の意味が意図的に込められてい­­ることは­明白で­す­ね。

次回から字幕をつける際には 《錆びた釘 / 錆びた爪》 と併記しようと思います。

@MetallixKnight It's normal when you first discover a foreign artist to make references to stuff you're familiar with. When I first heard November Rain, at a time when I didn't really know Guns, I thought it reminded me of some X Japan ballads like Endless Rain (1989) or Say Anything (1991) No matter how you see it, it's always good to broaden our horizons, and glad to see my favorite band becoming a little more known in North America than I would've ever hoped :)
