@MPHansen83 I was against the war in iraq until my unit deployed to camp taji. Seeing the mass graves, the skeletons of babies, bodies missing heads, etc really changed my whole opinion on the thing. I believe the US did the iraqi people a great service by getting rid of sadaam... should it have been done in this way? maybe not. I can think of less expensive ways to get rid of a ruthless dictator but whats done is done. Even if your against the war, you have to admit, atleast some good came out.

As a soldier I spent the majority of my time overseas with the civilian affairs team on their efforts to improve the local society, and in doing so got to know many locals, who are mostly just like us trying to make their way in the world and live their own life instead of taking others. Our interpreter, who was a local hire, became a close friend to me and is still my friend to this day.

I was there. In 4th Plt. The lead guntruck had a flat and the CTIS couldnt compensate. We were about 5 k's from the ECP so the CC's vehicle punched ahead and crossed engineer bridge without searching it as was Security Plt's responsibility. After the blast my truck raced to the front of the convoy and held perimeter security in the wadi while the CC's humvee reasted on its roof.
