  • This is amazing!

It seems to have some serious output!

Have you measured what the wattage output is?

    I'm really interested to know!

What kind of speeds can the unit withstand?

  • Aeinar, thanks for your intrest, i have placed this project on hold for now. i am trying to finish The Column VAWT project. i will get some data for you as soon as i can.

the only messurment i have is 18kmh 42 watt. not much but i still can improove it with more efficient wind deflection. but for now the project is on hold.

    Best Regrads

    Sam Chamas

  • Nice design. 1 question, though. The 'big O' you placed around the edge, was that to create a sort of Venturi effect? To speed up the wind coming in from above?

  • yes, the Big O did improove the wind travel downward.

    thanks

    sam

  • hey now that is a cool design and it is eye pleasing also it really gets them blades going good :)

  • don't come to close with that cam. hehe.

That thing would take out your cam easely and your hand too.

    Extremly cool turbine.

Looks really hard to build but you did it.

    Congrats.

    Greetings

    Erik

  • thanks Erik, it is Dangerous, it should have been 3 feet higher. your projects look promissing too, keep up the good work.

    regards

  • Hi there guys, I am working on a new style of FAWT, a bit simpler in design.

Winter is coming in fast here in Canada, it will be an indoor project for now.

    Best regards

  • i relised that ceiling fans are capable of producing ok power and they are all over the junk yard, the magnets can be found in speakers or old PC hard drives.

here in north America we can buy Neo magnets, but other places in the world not so lucky.

    regards

  • hi there guys, just to give you a qiuck update, i am working on the blades, but the homemade blades are folding backwards, i tried a ring on the back side and it works but noisy.

the blade housing cover fell on me. i readjusting how it is mounted.

    always fun,

so you know the objective is to make my blades and PMA from things we can find arround us.

  • Super!

Wash must still set on the axis of rotation fixed fairing to increase the speed of the wind and not lose half of the wind flow. Like the airplane, the propeller.

    regards

  • thanks, i am going to test with other diffrent prop shapes to figure out the best style.

    regards

  • Thanks. It looks like it turns faster in your funnel than it does just out in the open. Is that what you saw too?

Plus it's kind of nice that the funnel protects the blades and keeps people from getting hurt.

  • well, i am not sure that this is true, when i had it on the deck, it was pointed in one direction only, the wind might have been on a angle. but in the FAWT Silo the wind hit it at approx 90 degrees, with a great air compressed force. i still have all kinds of improvement to do but i am follwing trial and error test, i do not have and fancy tools.

    regards

  • another awesome update. this thing rips I hope it does not fly away while you sleep.and if it does I hope it lands at my house.GREAT JOB KEEP US UPDATED THANKS

  • thanks dude,i hope it land where no one can sue me...lol... i am planing to mount my "custom propset 01" with the cieling fan i moded on the fawt Silo...that will be another vid..

    thanks again

  • what is the rpm of the fixed axis wind turbine compared to the vawt rpm?

  • vawt 350rpm vs fawt custom propset 01 are arround 450rpm very simulair at wind 15kmh.

i did not messure the carbon fiber blades, they are way up there on speed i think 800rpm at 15kmh

    regards

  • the custom blades has alot more tork, not like the carbon fiber ones. so the custom blades require custom pmg and carbon fiber blades can use dc motor like the treadmill dc or ametek.

    regards

  • DO drop the cat in there!!!

    BUT

    Save the dogs :D

  • You did it! Congratulations!

  • thanks man, it does not look the best but for a backyard frist test, it it pretty sweet.

    regards

  • Don't drop the cat in there!

I'm impressed with the airflow even though you have re-directed it!
