it is not american, many countries in Europe have this module. It is a good thing that we are having this debate. I now want to see better schools being built all over the country. It is all good talking about the type of education we want for our children but it isnt good when we have overcrowded classrooms with leaking roofs and no desks or chairs.
@K especially giving power to locals to influence the hiring and firing....lazy teachers gossiping and selling cookies in class will be history and no more maternity leave every year...!
I think it is a good idea for counties to manage education. Kenya is a diverse nation, what is good in one area is not good in the other. The national government role is to distribute funds and manage national exams. Let the parents, teachers and local leaders make decisions that will help the kids not someone who sits in Nairobi sipping tea, reading a newspaper and eating chips.
Why copy us? Are system is failing! Copy another country that has better results. How much is education about of Kenyan's culture (for those who have access to education)?
@benadede You are absolutely right! The system in the US is quite messed up(if you live in a poor area then you will go to a poor school et cetra, et cetra, and the vicious cycle continues) and for us to simply copy it would be a mistake.

Students have the right to education....as long as they don't break the law or abuse the system otherwise they end up in jail!

The American system of education can be very dangerous. Some regions may be left behind forever!!!!
